Me and my family stayed here for 2 nightsOnly complaint i have is that we had to clean the room along with house keeping when we arrived due to numerous animal and human hair all over the bedroom and bathroom The room was discounted and we enjoyed our stay

Sade that works in house keeping was the best ever and I’m glad to have had her there to help with the cleaning She was very kind and caring while working hard to take care of that issue

Staying for my sister’s wedding The rate is 130 with the wedding discount The pool is not open and hasn’t been open for 9 months

The AC in the lobby is broken in the middle of summer My sister is pregnant and needed a crib, they would not take it up to her room even though it was the middle of the day so she had to haul it to her room herself and upon getting it to her room she found vomit all over the crib The toilet in my room was clogged upon checking in This hotel is absolutely trash Avoid at all cost

Tom E

Hotel is pretty dated Was disappointed with hotel condition, but it was clean Pool remains closed for some reason

Breakfast was poor Advertised scrambled eggs and more on the app and website but only had generic breakfast sandwiches that seemed to be nuked in a microwave and were not the greatest or most palatable It was food, I suppose

Kit E

The rooms are really clean and the hotel is pretty updated They offer a nice breakfast in the morning This hotel was extremely quiet at nightProximity to convenient food is good

Very walkable

Overall it was a great stay Family and I were passing through to another state and stopped here for the kids themed pool Pool and hot tub was awesome, free breakfast is a perk as well

The location is great for dinner options too both sit down and takeout nearby Losing one star due to the overall state of the king suite on the second floor The carpet needs steam cleaned and there are random drill holes by the pictures Some cosmetic damage to the doors and random carpet stains That aside, we had a great one night here Customer service was top notch, hotel was quiet at night and I would recommend staying here to anyone passing thru traveling with kids

Holli Frazell

The hotel itself was nice I was disappointed with the service, noise level and room Especially considering I picked this hotel because it appeared family-friendly and I was traveling with two toddlers

I asked for a pack and play upon check-in and was told one would be brought to our room Several hours later I called to inquire, again, about it and was told that they’d have to see if one was available… I never received a call back or notice that one wasn’t availableOur room was located on the second floor and the bedroom was extremely bright, even with the shades drawn I opened the window to check and found a large spotlight directly outside the window It felt like we were sleeping in daylightWe attempted to move to the pull out bed due to the light, but the sound was unreasonable with kids running, slamming doors and shouting constantly This was with a loud sound machine onWe enjoyed the pool, but the temperature was very chilly and my son was shaking after 20 minutes in itBreakfast was a highlight; nice selection and the service was great

Amy Morris

We love this location It is fairly clean and well maintained Breakfast is good

Coffee decent The pool is the reason we go but we are at the point of finding another location to enjoy winter pool time The pools are WAY too cold I mean, you’re indoors and shivering because it’s nearly unbearable Time to up the pool temp! I’ve heard many people complain

Carrie Budzinski

It was our family’s first motel stay and it met our needs The remodel is cute and the room was spacious The smart tv was great because we could watch movies our kids liked at night

It’s a 2 minute drive to Central Beach and 5 minutes out of Michigan City’s downtown (great breweries, outlet shopping, botanical gardens and casino)There was no contact with anyone beyond text and that is fine for us More space for trash would have been helpful There were also some cracks that let ants in but nothing to diminish our stay – just mentioning for those who this would be a deal-breaker forThere’s an old playground in the back that my boys loved playing on We would stay again

Shayna Thompson

We stayed for memorial weekend and ended up being surprised by the area! Upon first driving in you wouldn’t think there’s much to do, but the dunes national park adds a lot of fun sight seeing and beach going to the agenda As far as Al & Sally’s, it’s cool that it’s one of the historic motels making a come back in the area You can definitely tell they’re renovating and bringing it back to life still, but our room met our needs (aka showering and sleeping)

My only complaint is not having some sort of housekeeping service throughout the trip When we needed more towels or amenities, we were able to text and have them brought pretty quickly, but during our 3 night stay we never had a room clean (vacuum, bed made, or trash removal) They had mentioned not doing sheet changes after one night which was understandable, but it wasn’t made clear that we couldn’t get a vacuum or trash removal after I had asked for it Overall, we had a great time, it was good for our needs, and a cute “work in progress” to bring in some tourism for the area, but for the price on a holiday weekend I would’ve appreciated some light cleaning throughout

Erin O

Post-holiday provided for a quiet visit Minimal guests Limited staff

We were in a sparse but spacious room #1 near the officeI believe we were just a little too early for check inRequesting additional items felt a bit cumbersome, like we were inconveniencing staffWe never figured out where to walk from motel to water, but there were lots of other lake access options via car We chose Washington Park/BeachThe whole vacation was an otherwise top-notch experience for me::: Recommended places nearby::::Cool Runnings Jamaican had stellar foodHokkaido Sushi, Bubbles Ice Cream: very tasty!Fluid Coffee was fab! Multi visit coffee stopThe Sugar Bowl was everything I wanted for last morning brunchWashington Park and Beach was beautiful and perfect, even with eager seagulls looking for any and all snacksI had such a lovely time! Looking forward to going back

Yes, good price for large rooms with kitchenette I realize it is not the Taj Mahal However, there are real problems for me

Having worked out in the cold, all I wanted was a hot shower and hot water to wash my dishes In 7 days, 3 of them I had NO hot water Not at 6pm, not at 9pm, not at 1am I called the main number AND the emergency number several times Nothing and no one returned a single call NO ONE is EVER in the office, just a sign that says call the emergency number This isn’t acceptable The couch was severely and freshly stained and very nasty We had one cooking pan, 1 cookie sheet, and 1 boiling pan No toaster, no whisk, no spatula No towels to place freshly hand washed dishes on and had to use a shower towel Refrigerator drawers were filthy, and the oven drawer was full of what appeared to be hamburger helper molding Our beds were broken, so much so that one was leaning and stabbed you in the back with springs and FILTHY Also, I would like to add that the people who are actually living there are smoking in the stair wells and they are not being monitored at all Many pets barking all night, people running around the rooms all night long running/hitting into the walls I just needed clean, hot water, quiet after midnight on week days, and not to have to walk through the smokers lounge to get to and from my vehicle every single day and stink like that all day If you are wanting this too, DO NOT stay here

Carl Crayton

This place is the absolute worst suite/hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I travel very oftenDon’t waste your money or effort on these people, you’ll be better off going anywhere else and there’s a better hotel right next doorThe manager Veronica Luque, absolute HORRIBLE, the way she talks to people unacceptable, she had such a snarky attitude for someone who can’t even handle the simplest of issues

I was there for an entire week and was never checked on, when I did need things we were ignored Not answered, I arrived to check in at 3pm on a Thursday and the office was closed already and there is always doors propped open Whats the purpose of having codes for doors if housekeeping and management keeps them propped open

This hotel was disgusting upon arrival The toilet seat had spots of what looked to be urine on it The shower had black hair on the floor

The comforter also had hair under the folded area up top I was instantly turned off and felt like I shouldn’t even let my 10 month old be on the floor There was rust debris on the side tables of the bed and the TV stand everything in the room was old and dated I was very dissatisfied and disappointed I was glad that we were only staying one night I would have not been able to be comfortable here any longer than that

Loni Flowers

This was a very nice place to stay Rooms where clean, smelled nice No complaints there

I loved that they had lemon water at the entrance! The continental breakfast was so good! I was pleasantly surprised! The lady that was working the breakfast was so nice and pleasant They had WAFFLES! We will be staying there again The price was a bit much, but I think it was because of an event that was going on I’m hoping it comes down A very nice place to stay! I recommend 👌

Mike Weaver

I had to stay here for a week for a class, and on the second night I backed my truck up to far and got stuck in the trench I really appreciate how above and beyond the Manger went to help me out and made sure I was able to continue my school

The rooms are fantastic The food was amazing, and all of the staff members were very hospitable and polite I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling, as I will be only using this hotel in the future

Nice and clean Moving across the country and comfort was very important for someone with a bad back and hip dysplasiaThe bed was very comfortable and lived up to the Hilton standard

The bathroom was very small and not quite what I expectedI was expecting a 4 star hotel since that is what it is advertised as, but it definitely is not more than a 3 star in my opinionThat being said it was still a nice, clean and quiet, small hotel

Robert Letourneau

Great place to stay Especially within the last 2 months and became pet friendly which made it even more appealing to us to stay while traveling While visiting 11 national parks in 2 weeks we stayed at many places including Red roofs and super rates but then again you get what you pay for

The Hilton was an amazing place to stay just for comfort and also for being able to sit down with your pet out of secluded restaurant area that is set aside for them and us and have a regular meal and not have to go water out somewhere Definitely found a new places to stay for our next travel adventures

Our family really enjoyed staying at this bed and breakfast Train rooms are adorable and trains go by constantlyIt felt like you were riding on a real train when they go by

You hear them all night but they have earplugs if you need Beautiful lodge with a fireplace so lovely The people that own it are so welcoming and friendly Delicious breakfast, they had it early because we had to leave at 9 They were so accommodating We will be back!

Margaret Sen

So I’m really torn about the reviewCons: trains go through about every 20 minutes Even though there are earplugs, you will hear trains BLOW HORN throughout night

It vibrates the whole room You will not sleepPros: Unique , great for train enthusiasts, can hang out in depot, benches to watch trains, great owners, good breakfast, free parking, fire pit and grill to use, free parking when stay, nice accommodations like a regular hotel Next to a two block Main Street that has food and ice cream parlorSo go for the fun but do not expect to sleepIf you want to rent the depot I can see how that can be greatThe caboose only sleeps two The box car and the upstairs with balcony sleep 4

ArizonaRails

If you’re a railfan who loves the wide variety of trains that roll by, then this is definitely one of the best places to stay at! Located less than a block from Norfolk Southern’s Chicago Line, this is definitely the place for some of the best action that’s out there! Mr Riley is someone you’ll easily get along with, and also gets along with all railfans who gather at this truly special place right in the heart of historic downtown Chesterton I can’t wait for my next trip out there someday again real soon! 😁-AZRails

Wonderful service! Super friendly and helpful staff! Our room was clean and although the AC didn’t seem to work the greatest, we had a comfortable stay (I can’t speak for the other 3 rooms that my family were in) But the outdoor patio are that we occupied in the evening was very comfortable and cleanHotel staff was very accommodating to our rather loud family and I appreciate their kindness and understanding during our very difficult time

Erica Jones

Front desk clerk was very professional, rooms need to be updated to match the prices they are charging a night I have stayed at 2 other hotels in the area and both have better updates for the same price and offer a free continental breakfast The pool looked like particles were floating inside and the hallways were noisy at times

But the outer appearance looks great

Willeta Smith

I reserved the jacuzzi room the day before my stay and they decided to call me after check-in at 4pm Tammy told me that I couldn’t get that room because the jacuzzi wasn’t working and they couldn’t fix it They put me in a standard 2 queens room instead of the king bed

I asked to speak with the manager , which was Sharon the assistant manager She told me the same thing and that the pool wasn’t working either I found out that they put someone else in my jacuzzi room the same day and people were using the pool , too When I showed Sharon the pictures of the room and the pool being used, she said it must have gotten fixed after she left at 6pm I spoke with her about the room around 5 ish I really believed that it was discrimination She started getting irate and saying that it wasn’t I contacted Guest Services and they told me that Matthew would call me back, but he never did

After booking, I was nervous to stay here due to some of the negative reviews However, we did not experience anything mentioned during our stay The employees were friendly, the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet

The location is great! Everything you could possibly need is within a 10 mile radius The only thing we found odd was the sliding bathroom door without the option to lock it Not a deal breaker for us, but could be for those who want to ensure privacy Overall, we were very pleased with our stay

BED BUGS! We just had the worst experience ever here If I could just leave no stars I would I have never been so mad

My boyfriend was sleeping next to meFrom the TV light I see something crawling toward himit was a bed bug If this wasn’t worse enough, after turning the light on there was more We talked to the manager and after putting one in a cup for her to see she denied it all I definitely wouldn’t come here unless you want bugs that are SO hard to get rid of Oh and did I mention she said she couldn’t give us a refund Calling the credit card ccompany tomorrow

This place was almost perfect Here is the good parts first My husband and I had a king jacuzzi suit

The room was clean, comfy and the jacuzzi tub was huge and comfortable Great pool area and that was clean as well The food was great in the morning, hot and fresh and delicious wonderful for a hotel with free breakfast An employee named Patrick was there in the morning organizing the food and he was amazing!!! One of the nicest people I have ever met! Now for the bad, the reason that I only gave 4 and not 5 stars The Assistant manager named Kim that checked us in was one of the rudest and coldest people I have ever dealt with in customer service Hotels are supposed to be homey and inviting right? This lady made us feel anything but being at home I was so nice to this lady when we were checking in and she made me feel like I was a problem I later left my room to ask where the pool was and she told me where it was but acted like I was inconveniencing her Then after my husband and I took a swim on the way walking back my husband threw a plastic bottle in the trash can in the lobby and she yelled at us telling us no glass bottles at the pool My husband said it was plastic you can check the trash if you want and she said nothing Not even an apology after being rude to us Great hotel horrible assistant manager

Great stay, the staff was very friendly and courteous I was traveling from California to NYC and doing 700 mile days, this place fell perfectly on my itinerary The location is nothing to write home about just a few hotels and gas stations so I was a little put off by that aspect but once I got in my room my feelings changed

It was virtually brand new and the bedding was super luxurious Breakfast was being served at 7am on Saturday and I left at 5:30am but the girl at the reception made me a breakfast bag to go which was super niceAll in all a great place for a great night sleep

Stayed here over Easter weekend while we were visiting family The staff here is so friendly and helpful! Housekeeping always made sure we had everything we needed They offered a good breakfast and the lady working there was so nice and even brought in treats for the kids on Easter

Everyone went above and beyondWe would definitely stay here again We were pleased with our room and with the staff!!

Really want to put 3 stars But it is a 5 star place but something is off about this hotel House keepers and room at stand up

But as usual they find the most miserable person who is super slow With zero people skills to work front desk? These “property” management companies have zero ability to pick people This is usually a common problem Prices of rooms go up but intelligence goes down…

Ask Yourself

Stayed one night, last minute booking in the whirlpool room Room was clean, the whirlpool drained very slow, but the water and function of it worked very well The biggest complaint we had is with the curtains hanging in the window

We had a room facing the back end of the hotel which had so much light pollution The curtains in our room DID NOT close all the way to block out the light You come to a hotel to get a piece of mind and rest and that’s the last thing we did, was rest It was very difficult getting to sleep so we had to “rig” our window shut as best we could This is definitely an issue that needs to be fixed, especially when paying high price

The front desk person Madonna took my payment out for the reservation then her other associate also took my payment out They refused to believe that it was an error and I was supposed to get a call from the owner and I still haven’t Also, when we got in the room there was blood on our bedding so that shows that they don’t even change their comforters

They just replaced it back on the bed and left it I haven’t stayed at this hotel a few times and never had an issue It was an anniversary night get away and it was ruined because they double charged me and used what money I had for the night Nothing was done for our inconvenience
