I stayed 6 nights because I used reward points Day 1: 1st room had a lovely view of the roof top ventilation system Just ugly

I changed rooms and the view of the parking lot was better The fire alarm went off No fire (Thank goodness) Big booger on lampshade turned my stomach Day 2: Breakfast buffet was barely edible Potatoes were dried out; gross Coffee was great! Bath mat had black slime under it Gross Fire alarm went off again FD couldn’t get elevator to work; had to hike up 5 flights of stairs Mattress was broken in on one side like sleeping in a hammock Day 3-4 Did not attempt breakfast buffet Day 5: went to pool Disgusting Big greasy ring around the entire pool Gross Staff is nice Location is great I’m done with this place

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary We got the king suite with the ‘jetted’ tub When we checked in, the male receptionist was very accommodating and polite

When we took a bath in the tub, the jets were broken I think if you are paying the price for a jetted tub, then you should most definitely get one The breakfast buffet was alright, but I would say not worth $20 You can get the same type of breakfast, if not more at a 2 star hotel with free food The breakfast staff was polite, and attentive The hotel was extremely disgusting I mean, especially during COVID I felt like I was staying at a one star hotel with how gross it was The receptionist explained that they were understaffed I believe that there is no excuse to be that filthy In your spare time, do some of the cleaning yourself I would never allow for my hotel to look this way Children’s handprints all over the glass and sticky door handles throughout The pool was more green than it was blue Trash laying around everywhere- inside and out Plates from the buffet had fingerprints all over them Silverware not polished Floors were dirty too When checking out, we had explained to the female receptionist that our jets were broken in our ‘jetted tub room’ She didn’t even apologize to us for the inconvenience! The hotel manager was just coming into work at the same time, and she failed to get him, or mention our concerns to him If I were in her position, I would have grabbed that manager, and offered some sort of discount since we paid for something we couldn’t even enjoy To top it off, their restaurant was shut down due to being understaffed as well, and the free lemon water was not accessible, so we didn’t get to eat dinner there Instead, we had to go out into town to get food (which took time away for our ‘hotel getaway’ experience) We will probably give this place another chance down the road, I hope they get more organized by thenStay duration: 07/24/22-07/25/22

I stay here quite a bit Nice place Can use some upgrades

The place is recently very busy which is GREAT! Staff usually very nice and helpful BUT when you come to check in at 7:30 pm and there’s no one at the front desk because they need to run around the place putting out fires…that’s an issue I’ve been here many times and they def need more staff at the evening and night time

If there were “0” stars available, this property would receive below it The room we booked online, was not the room we walked into When we inquired, we were told “they” (whoever that was) overbooked the hotel

The room was adjacent to the lobby, steps away from the elevator and dining area Additionally, when I tried to get back into my room after discussing with the front desk, found my card key did not work I went back to the front desk and was given a new key We were traveling with our grandson and went down to check out the pool Once again, none of our keys worked to get back into our room and our dog was on the other side of the door Back again to the front desk and now the manager on duty tried, also to no avail I mentioned it was probably not the card key but something internal with the lock itself This finally resolved itself Fast forward to midnight, all of us sound asleep, when an entire party, not certain if wedding or otherwise, proceeded to chatter up a storm for about a half an hour, this along with the elevator dinging every couple of minutes I was concerned our grandson would wake up with all the noise No one from the front desk came to ask them to quiet it down! It finally settled down, until around 4:00am, when the elevator started dinging again People were leaving and had no respect for other guests and again nothing was said from management I was more than livid Having been in Hospitality and knowing the difference between right and wrong, this was wrong on so many levels When we checked out and I asked for our room to be comped, I was told the best they could do was approximately $40 I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was the manager In my dealings in the industry, this was unacceptable In leaving, I mentioned I would be taking this to social media and was told, “okay” This was in May, but my first chance to voice my dissatisfaction with the hotel We will never stay here again, not recommend and think twice before staying at a Holiday Inn Express again

Best hotel we’ve stayed at when going back home to visit the kids and grandkids Cozy, clean, our room was spacious and I’ve never seen a bathroom mirror that is lit up around the whole edge, and when you shower it only fogs up around the edge next to the lighted edge I’ve never slept so good in my whole life, I want this bed in my house

The employees were all friendly and worked with us when we arrived early for our reservation, then when we had to extend our stay to give us the best possible price The only downside is not anything to do with the hotel, but other guests with dogs We travel with 2 small dogs and always clean up after them Other guests just leave their dogs waste everywhere, it was disgusting Winter cold and snow is no excuse to not clean up after your dog, but I believe they wouldn’t clean up after their pets no matter the weather SO IF YOU TRAVEL WITH YOUR PETS AND CAN’T CLEAN UP AFTER THEM PERHAPS YOU SHOULD LEAVE THEM HOME OR BETTER YET YOU SHOULD STAY HOMEPERIOD RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE, THINKING THAT CLEANING UP AFTER YOUR PET DIDN’T APPLY TO YOU YOU AGREE TO IT WHEN SIGNING INTO THE HOTEL PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE HOTELS PET FREE AND A PAIN FOR THOSE OF US THAT DO FOLLOW THE HOTELS RULES AND CLEAN UP AFTER OUR PETS!! I’m sure y’all are pulling the “Karen” card but when I’m trying to find a clean spot for my pet to go on and there isn’t because others left dog poop everywhere, it pisses me off The hotels should use outdoor cameras and put on the agreement you sign when you bring your pets that you will be charged extra when you are viewed on camera not cleaning up after your pets That would be awesome!

The company I work for choose this hotel because it was close to the company The rooms were big and clean Comfy bed and clean bathroom

Staff was super nice especially Shawn on the overnight shift Hotel is close to shopping and restaurants Pool was nice and heated if not so deep The complementary breakfast was standard Overall a good experience and I would recommend this hotel

This hotel is one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed at in its price range The room was comfortable and clean, the service was good and friendly, and the location was just what we needed with lots of food options nearby The only minor complaint I might have is that the bathroom was a bit awkward in our room, but the shower was fantastic and it was a minor complaint at most

Angela Blair

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! We stayed this past weekend for a wedding and it was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced! No one in our wedding party got any sleep due to all the commotion and craziness going on at this hotel and the majority of our guest were In fear of coming out their room at night due to multiple Fights in the hallways BOTH Friday and Saturday nights, police coming out twice on Saturday, loud noises throughout the night inside the hotel and outside in the parking lot, smell of weed throughout the entire hotel and it seemed like the staff was real comfortable or used to these activities as this craziness continued throughout the night both Friday and Saturday! It was a straight up hotel brawl And to top it off the Hyatt charges $100 deposit hold per room…on top of their nightly rate, absolutely ridiculous!!! If your staying in that area shop stay somewhere else!! It was an absolutely traumatizing experience

Michael Kiska Jr

stayed four nights for work great rooms great staff only 4 stars for service cause breakfast is the one thing that needs work i dont think fresh scrambled eggs and some sausage is asking too much

especially when you’re already putting out them gross pre-made sandwiches and their coffee pumps were broke two of the four days I was there only little things though stay was great my only other complaint is the $4 cookie it should be $2!! conveniently right off the highway in a non-congested area, east road access and food nearby highly recommend

Hampton Inn McHenry offered a friendly check-in There was a real door on the bathroom! Yay!! This was the only one of our entire 10 day road trip involving several Hampton Inn stays We were so happy for the privacy

If Hilton would consider using real hinged bathroom doors again, we would appreciate the change There was no hot tub as in the pool pictures online It’s spot was filled with concrete The hotel seemed newly redone, and the immediate area seemed nice Mostly it was surrounded by farmland but is within less than an hour of downtown Chicago

Not only did the hotel over charge my credit card SEVEN times they laughed about doing it Jacquline charged it when I checked in, Steven charged it on the way out When we were standing in line everyone else was getting print outs of their folios (receipts)

When it was mine and my fiancés turn, we checked out and Steven said the printer “broke” and he’ll work on it It broke conveniently when it was our turn to check out because Steven was well aware of what happened He said not to worry and he’ll email us a copy of our folio He did, and the receipt said we should’ve only been charged twice, half on debit half credit For a total of $37962 and that was fine I was expecting that However, on our ride home to Tennessee I noticed my credit card was charged 5 times and my debit was charged 4 times Each charge was for $18981 I called because my bank was sending me emails notifying me of fraud on my accounts I called and spoke with Jacquline and she essentially said that it wasn’t her problem, laughed and hung up I called back and spoke to the GM, he said he was terribly sorry, released the funds immediately and profusely apologized I called back when I saw 3 more pending charges on my credit card for $18981 and again spoke to Jacquline who then transferred me to Steven Steven said I have to deal with the bank because the payment wasn’t approved, the funds were released and he had to collect payment in order to check me out If payment wasn’t collected, why was I refunded money that I was overcharged? That was a lie because my card was never once declined, money kept being withdrawn My total should have only been $37962, but the total between my two cards was $1,32867 The payment was approved MULTIPLE times and they thought it was FUNNY to keep charging my cards I had to report it all as fraud, be sent a new card and go back and fourth with the bank about why this is happening Not only did over charge my card multiple times, they laughed about and continued to authorize it until I had to report it all as fraud because apparently charging someone’s card for hundreds of dollars is absolutely hilarious according to Jacquline I also requested housekeeping service on my second day, which I never received I had to, at midnight, make my own bed because the housekeepers didn’t My fridge also went out while I was there The engineering/maintenance department was the best part of the stay They were prompt and quick to fix that issue I will never stay at another Hilton property let alone a hole in the wall joint like this one I’ll be staying exclusively with Marriott after this HORRIBLE experience This is my first and LAST time ever staying at a Hilton property Avoid this property like the plaque I could get better service at a Motel 6 than this placeAlso the room was gross The window blind had stains all over it The bathroom vanity was held together with drywall screws There was hair all in the shower from the previous guest

I came down to visit my son and his family I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice this Hotel and marina was It was clear there had been some updates made

It was clean; that is what I look at Very pleasant and accommodating staff The balcony facing the river was my happy place I even extended my stay an extra day The restaurant is closed; but there is no shortage of restaurants, bars or places to go within a short distance from the hotel

Mark Sturges

What a nice, quaint, little private owned hotel! I found this place because I had business dealings nearby I was impressed with the owner, Gary, as he was the one who took my reservation as well as checked me in upon arrival Great conversationalist

My room faced the river and was nice, clean, and comfortable, although it was a little small But I was solo so it was ok for me Even had a small balcony to step out on to watch the boats and jet-skis go by

Austin Olesak

This place has so much potential to be a booming hotel that if fixed up and ran right it could easily bring in $150 a night due to its prime location

Honest reviewPictures, signage, etc are very misleading The bed is extremely hard along with the pillows Bed feels like you’re laying on the floorCarpeting is old and has stains Water damage on the ceiling Cheap “repairs” made to the walls, ceiling, baseboards, and bathtub Water smells but it is well waterNo amenities or atleast very littlePositive sideShower pressure is strong almost overwhelming Very hot water Heat/AC works amazingly well No found smells other than the water No signs of bugs anywhere other than the occasional spider Front desk was very nice Easy after hour check in process Just call ahead and they’ll tell you what to doStayed 4 nights during a holidayWould I stay again? No and that’s mainly due to the extremely hard bed and hard pillow If the bed was more soft than I probably would stay again

This place is not as advertised I stayed here for five days on business and the wifi worked for only one of those days There were some crunched up Cheerios on the floor next to my bed on check-in

Mid-week I asked the front desk to vacuum them up since it was not happening during the day The woman wrote it down on a slip of paper The next day my bed linens were changed (which I did not ask for or need) but the Cheerios remained No internet makes it difficult to work from this hotel Businesspeople may wish to book elsewhere

I stayed here back in September for an event in the area As soon as I walked in, guest service was kind! Very generous They gave me my key with no hassle, gave me my room number, and sent me on my way

I got up to my room and opened the door, and I heard the voice of a grown man shouting in dismay at the door opening, and I could hear the shower running I was given a room that had a grown man in it who was showering I rushed back down to the front desk and explained it to them, and they seemed confused It turns out that the room had been given to someone, but it wasn’t logged into their system that it had occurred They gave me a new room that was the same as what I had requested, and they walked me to it to make sure that no one was thereI get nervous thinking about that scenario I was all alone, I’m a young woman, I’m very small- Had it been the other way around of a man walking into my hotel room while I was showering, I’m unsure on how the situation would’ve gone Guest service was kind, but I hope that after these months, they have themselves better put together I didn’t feel safe there after that and I had left my luggage in front of the door to prevent anyone from entering the room if the door lock failed I hope others have had better experiences than I have

Check in was fine Friendly & courteous customer service Easy on & off the highway

Place is very clean! The restaurant off the front lobby was great! Nice bar to wet the whistle The food was hit/miss Another table had sandwiches and they all were stating “hit the spot”my entree not-so-much Grilled chicken was delicious but the veggies seem very “BLAH” (Againhit/miss with food)Room was clean and decentMy shower is a death trap!!! Slippery surface even before soap hit the floor (It’s in their best interest to get that changedit’s a lawsuit waiting to happen!)Shower head is too small to be hanging from the ceilingnot getting the right balance with water distribution (need larger head for the effect you’re wanting to give off) And the half glass wall allowed me to soak the bathroom as I was trying not to fall in the shower (no joke)!!!And for truck driversthis location is starting to break away from us parking here on lot That back drive into Extended Stay that loops into Holiday Inn is NOT TRUCK FRIENDLY (EXTREMELY LOW TREE BRANCHEStrust meI “know”!

Here is a list of all my issues

For the room I purchased online I was told the price was wrong and was charged an extra 50 dollars No towels in room, no soap in room, trash cans still had trash in them No microwave Place charges for breakfast with outrages prices! Staff was nice but quality of stay is poor I don’t recommend anyone to check into this place for the price they charge was not worth it You get better perks at a roach motel!

The room was nice and clean and the staff was friendly as well The pool was closed so we didn’t get to swim but maybe next time The concierge at the front desk was super helpful, it offers free breakfast in the morning but we were so comfortable in the beds we never got up early enough to eat it

There is a bar right next door that we went to and got absolutely smashed which is great cause we could just go right to our room and chill for the night I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area

We left a dirty hotel room and came here Rob at the front desk was an absolute angel, he listened to me vent after a long day of travel and losing my credit card at the dirty hotel He was so kind and helpful, Hilton this man deserves a bonus! He even gave my kids some bags of snacks since we had such a rough day

This hotel is very clean, comfortable, and the staff is amazing Don’t waste your time trying any other hotels

Jenn Soderblom

We stayed at this hotel for a “Stay and play” youth hockey tournament The hotel was more than able to accommodate us and did so well The check in and check out process was quick and easy using the Hilton app

They didn’t seem to mind the many kids in and out On Friday night we had pizza brought in and they allowed us to eat in the lobby and gave us the conference room to use The staff was very nice and always willing to help The only reason this is no a 5 star review is the breakfast It was awful!

Ross S

This was my first stay at this Hilton location, As I am not local to the area However, I wanted to give special recognition to Graciela at the front desk I had a moderate inconvenience, and She took care of everything

Let’s face it, there are so many hotels we can stay at In this day and age, but she and her team put people first Outstanding job Hilton! Highly recommended

I booked a weekend at the Victorian Rose Garden B & B with friends recently for an event in Chicago I thought I was booking just a room, but what we had was an entire experience Sherry graciously opens her home and makes you feel welcomed and more like friends than guests

We enjoyed this lovely Victorian home and all it had to offer Our room had a wonderful feel including a private bathroom with a claw foot tub If you are looking for a place without interaction from your host, this is not the place for you Sherry greats you when you arrive, sat down at breakfast to share in the conversation and was always on hand if needed If you are looking to be treated like family I would definitely recommend checking into this lovely B & B!

Michael Grossenbacher

My wife and I came out for a long weekend to reconnect and get some time away from our kid The experience was overwhelmingly positive Sherry was a fantastic host, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfasts were amazing

We expected the sort of continental breakfast you’d get at a hotel but instead got a different homemade meal every day – apple french toast, cheese and spinach quiche, and vegetable omelets, all with fresh fruit There’s really nothing negative I can say about this place We’ll be staying here again when we come back into town

Jennifer Moody

I had a great experience at the Victorian Rose Garden B&B I was only there for a night, but got to enjoy some quality conversations with Sherry, had a delicious breakfast, a comfortable night’s stay, and a great book on the porch I stayed in Lady Teresa’s bedroom – the bed was comfy, the air unit kept the room comfortable without being loud, and I didn’t hear any of the other guests

I actually thought the room was much bigger in person than it looked in the photos Downtown Algonquin was cute and so close – we’ll have to come back to stay so we can experience that

We were taking our toddler to see family, hours from home and hours from our destination Suddenly, he started sobbing, then vomited EVERYWHERE – all over himself, the car seat, everything in the back seat It was already a little late, so we stopped and went to the nearest hotel, which happened to be this one

First, the negatives: the hotel is under renovations This was never a problem for us – no noise, no mess, but worth mentioning They do not have free breakfastNow the positives: this hotel is pretty friendly The room was a little dated (will likely be fixed soon given ongoing renovations) but clean and well appointed The beds were comfortable and the sink and bathtub easily accommodated all the stuff we had to wash The parking lot felt safe (my husband was outside scrubbing our car until late into the night) Thankfully, they had washers and dryers, so we were able to clean off everything we could in the bathroom to remove the gross parts (clothes, car seat padding, etc), then wash it all in the machinesThe best part of this hotel, however, was the staff They gave us tons of towels, were kind as I carried my very upset toddler through the lobby, and checked us in fast Whatever they are paid, they all deserve a raise Really dedicated to customer service and super nice people Highly recommend this place if you happen to be in the area!

This place was incredible I had a room here for 8 months while I worked on a job and I was very impressed with the cleanliness, quality and professionalism of the hotel The appliances all worked great refrigerator was big

The rooms have recently been upgraded so it has all new furniture as well with very comfortable beds The staff was very friendly, personable and helpful For the price this is probably the best place you can find in the area

Lynsie Bernier

The staff were very helpful and friendly Decent location close to the highway but room was quiet Fair price for traveling with a dog, $25 / night

Loved having windows in the suite to open for fresh air This property appears to be in the middleof an update The room I had was not updated The bedding, bathroom and kitchen were clean The doorjams, sides of cabinets, carpet and couch needed a good scrub down Luckily I wasn’t in the room much, gone to a scent work trial all day each day Would stay again because of the low pet fee Hopefully will be updated and cleaner next time

Overall this hotel was nice It was clean, the beds and pillows were comfy, it was nice having a couch in our room and everyone was friendly We got a really great price too! I just wish they had microwaves in the room and the standard size hotel fridge instead of the tiny little cube fridge

We stayed their for 4 days and had hoped to be able to eat some meals in our room but without a microwave we couldn’t do that And the fridge was too small to put leftovers in

The staff here is wonderful! Very friendly and helpful This is a pet friendly hotel BeAdvised there are additional fees for pets

Room was good, nothing fancy but clean and a lot of room Not a lot of grass for pet walking They need a pet off leash area that would be a huge asset to this property We would stay again

I had to leave a review and I never do this But I’m this world today and this economy a good hotel is hard to come by And especially having 4 full time jobs between the 2 of us and sleeping in the car most nights

This place was a god send Most hotels have moved to check out at 11AM since when I was growing up And WE DESPERATELY needed someplace to sleep comfy for the night and to shower And the minute our heads hit the pillows and the BLINDS kept all light out BEST nights sleep I’ve gotten I panicked when I woke up at 11:15AM thinking we were gonna get a late fee and I was gonna be interrupting their cleaning schedule but BEVERLY up front when I called to apologize and tell her my room assured me it was okay and it was noon I appreciate that so much from a world that has gotten so cold I highly highly HIGHLY recommend staying here if you’re ever in the area!

Bruce held my laptop for over a week, until I was able to return back All in all, an excellent experience Oh! They serve fresh popcorn too!

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff especially at the front desk, not the people I would want as the face of my business Not a single one of the three that I’ve encountered has ever smiled or said hello, have a nice day not one single pleasantry was ever exchanged The woman that checked us in never even spoke until she muttered sign here

There is a much nicer much friendlier place right across the parking lot

Very outdated hotel The front desk staff were unfriendly (except for the nice gentleman who booked our stay) Bed was very uncomfortable

The carpet in the room had stains everywhere, it looked like dogs had accidents all over the floor The bathroom had a jetted tub, which I’m not sure how housekeeping would sufficiently clean Horrible coffee Didn’t bother staying to taste the breakfast We paid $191 for the night and it wasn’t worth anything close to that
