Excellent host, great breakfast, and a beautiful place to stay! Brian was hospitable and friendly, made us feel at home A friend and I rode to Jonesborough after about a 1200 mile trip from New Jersey to the infamous motorcycle road, Tail of the Dragon The town was an excellent experience if you enjoy a short walk from the B&B and Johnson City offers something for those looking for the city experience/night life

Miriam

Brian was very understanding and flexible with our arrival time which we modified a few times within the day of arrival It was fun to get a tour of this charming historic home and to note all the amenities there, including a fridge stocked with delicious breakfast items He explained everything, right down to the way to grind coffee beans in the Vitamix and to brew it in the coffee press

We also enjoyed the lovely deck and several walks into the beautiful town of Jonesborough Thanks Brian, for a great stay!

We were there tonight for a class reunion The food and staff were excellent How ever the hotel was unbearably hot in the halls, the banquet rooms, the lobby, the restrooms

We couldn’t fine anyplace comfortable We work out in the sun in our garden and are used to heat, but if I’m going to what should be a nice place owned by Hilton I expect just a little bit of relief from the summer heat It was cooler outside than in I don’t plan to ever come back here I don’t think the 50 to 100 people that were there tonight with us will either I’m glad we had the option of driving home I certainly would not have stayed there

Julie

Hotel wasn’t bad but it’s not great, very basic The only problem I had when I arrived, I checked my sheets as I always do and there was a red stain on the sheets Told front desk and got new sheets and everything else was clean, but still freaked me out

Breakfast is not included here, $12 for a buffet that’s very basic or $7 for the Continental breakfast I’d say it’s a little expensive here for not much, in my opinion

Melissa Hill

This was a disappointing stay Not up to Hilton brand standards I was not advised that they were doing construction on the property until I arrived

At that point, it’s too late The property really needs updating and shows a lot of wear and tear They are apparently updating the air conditioning The staff is nice but it’s hard to overcome the property’s shortcomings With the construction trucks in the front, parking is limited so I parked in the back The electronic lock at the back door was broken With a broken back door lock, anyone could just walk into the hotel My room had a moldy, musty smell The air conditioning didn’t work properly and the room was uncomfortable For some reason, the hot water wasn’t working on my last morning there I advised the front desk and their response was that no one else had said anything Broken lock, cold showers and hot rooms don’t make for a great stay

Still not fully servicing rooms, no matter how long you stay Requested service halfway through our stay and was told they couldn’t Room wasn’t cheap, but “hot breakfast” was honestly a joke- packaged breakfast sandwiches and packaged waffles

The bananas were as green as a bell pepper Housekeeping couldn’t even be bothered to run a vacuum or make a bed Insane that the price increases, as the level of service decreases; we didn’t get the services that are normally included, but didn’t get a discount on the price, either Bathroom floor tiles weren’t sealed properly and rocked when you walked on them, grout pieces came out throughout our stay, but we had to live with it because we couldn’t get our room serviced Even the towels that were replaced (after we put the used towels out in the hall) weren’t replaced properly; wrong # of washcloths, no bath mat, no hand towels Indoor pool is tiny and COLD Definitely not up to Marriott standards Christina, who checked us in was extremely helpful, though

Josh Chapman

This was our 2nd stay at this Marriott location in the last 7 months while visiting family locally Beautiful location, very clean, and nice staff There was an issue with the room booked vs the room given for our two nights stay but both Brandy (GM) and William (front desk hostess) were able to correct the mistake made by Marriott 800# reservations line for night two

No harm done and kudos to them both for finding a solution on a very busy 4th of July weekend

If you need a perfect place to stay while hiking any area on the Appalachian close by for a weekend or longer trip, this was the perfect place to stay The hosts were so friendly, food was AMAZING, and the accommodations felt like a home away from home I’d recommend to anyone and might even go back as there are a few areas I’d like to hike more on next time

5/5 was an easy review and hope many others can enjoy this place! Also there was a disc golf course literally within walking distance! Which was just perfect for me

We discovered Roan Mountain Bed & Breakfast June of 2015 We wanted to get away for our anniversary for peace & quiet It is one of our favorite places to get away & relax at this charming B&B! For the most part we stay in the Cloudland Room

It is nestled upstairs away from everything We even have our own little balcony! It’s our favorite roomso comfy! The living room is a place we like to sit with their antique Victorian furniture & the fireplace makes it so welcoming & cozy!! My husband and I were welcomed with smiling & friendly faces upon our arrival We made our reservations for a whole week and so glad that we did because it is the place for some R&R! Their breakfast is amazing All home cooked! Ann & Steve have become our close friends and we just love spending time with them every year!

We stayed at Roan Mountain Bed and Breakfast over the Memorial Day Holiday We were originally planning to camp, but I waited too long and all the reservable campsites were full So we opted to stay here and had a wonderful stay

It’s a great location right at the base of Roan Mountain, with easy access to Carver’s Gap, the Rhododendron Gardens, Roan Mountain State Park, and the Appalachian Trail We even saw wild turkeys in the backyard in the morning The hosts, Ann and Steve, are so nice and welcoming We stayed in the Cloudland Room – it’s the only upstairs room and has a private bath The ceilings were a little low, but other that it was a great room We had a cute little balcony and the room was very spacious and nice The breakfast was fantastic – Ann is a wonderful cook Every morning, it was something different, but delicious – eggs in a basket, pancakes with fruit topping, bacon, scrambled eggs, etc Ann and Steve were so nice and we enjoyed chatting with them in the morning and also met their little dog Gigi One morning, we weren’t sure where we were going to go hiking – talking to Ann and Steve, they suggested we go to Blue Hole Falls when we told them we love chasing waterfalls It was a great suggestion – we had such a fun time exploring around this waterfall We would definitely stay here again next time we’re in the area Since they cater mostly to Appalachian Trail hikers, they offer shuttling service for longer hikes Next time we visit, we’ll definitely use their shuttling to hike a stretch of the AT

We stayed at the Hampton Inn on State of Franklin due to surgery for my husband The only room available was the handicapped room which was fine because we are in our 70’s The complaint I have is the room was dusty and the the bathroom was dirty

The floor was dirty, the tub needed a good scrubbing We were disappointed to say the least

BE AWARE! DO NOT LEAVE ANY PERSONAL ITEMS!!!! I stayed here about 1 month ago for my birthday The bathroom was dirty and had hair all over the floor After checking out I realized I left my shirt and charger in the room

My husband called and asked if anyone turned in my items to lost and found and the front desk rep advised my husband that she located my shirt and charger in the lost and found She said she would mail it to our residence in North Carolina It’s been almost 1 month and I still haven’t received my items I have been calling the hotel multiple times a week for the past 2 weeks trying to figure out what happened to my items and always getting the runaround, they will lookinto it and call me back I have requested to speak with a manager multiple times and have never been successful with speaking to one One of the front desk representative’s, Casey, has been extremely rude and has the worst customer service I have experienced at a Hilton hotel!! She refused to transfer me to a manager multiple times and even lied saying she was the manager She never attempted to help me figure out what happened to my items and had a horrible attitude She hung up the phone on me several times and refused to let me know what hours the manages work so I can call during that time None of this makes any sense and all I wanted was to get an explanation about what happened to my items No tracking number was provided and nobody calls me back to give me an answer!! I can’t help but to think someone stole there stole my items and that’s why they wont let me speak to a manger to get answers! Please BE CAREFUL staying at this hotel WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I didn’t expect this from a Hilton hotel!

Heard about this hotel from a girl that swore up and down they had an AMAZING breakfast with this biscuit covered in all that is holy down south Now that I went to see for myself, I swear I would hire that breakfast staff full time if I won the lotto tomorrow 😍 We stopped in Johnson City on a very long road trip and everything about the stay was great Brand new hotel, great friendly staff, and unlike other hotels that hand you an apple and granola bar, they have something home cooked for breakfast along with all the regular staples

We were very happy with the stay

Ajimon Thomas

One of the most nicest hotels Ive stayed at in a while No complaints at all We stayed there for 1 night only

Plenty of parking Our room was super big for some reason, we might have booked an accessible one by mistake Nevertheless, it had a king bed and also a pull out couch Very spacious The first thing you see when you enter your room is a welcome sign with your name on, as the tv wallpaper The room also came with utensils and other stuff, more than you will need The bathroom was neat and thr shower pressure was so good The breakfast opens at 7 am and it was really nice So many options to eat and drink The hotel also has a pool and gym although we never used it We also got some cute tips from the reception and the staff was really helpful Definitely going back to this place if we ever get a chance

We had a great experience at this hotel overallwe travelled with 2 yo kid and a cat This hotel will offer these on top of your regular hotel expectations: historical building with prominent exterior and interior, close proximity to nice breweries, and walking part of the city, large and well equipped bathroom, great restaurant on property with option to deliver to your room, parking garage at no extra cost

I recommend this hotel

Beautiful hotel! Excellent service and such a comfy bed The food at the restaurant was great with a lot of whiskey options The spa did call and cancel my appointment with only a couple hour notice after saying there would be a $20 cancellation fee if I canceled

But, the hotel itself was amazing It’s like a 1920s time warp and super decked out!

I stay here occasionally for a run away (I literally live 11 mile away) and we stay here when my mom has to have any type of procedure This is our second time in two months being here for my mom having a surgery

I let them know in advance why we are here, and they literally go above and beyond Every time Everybody is SO kind They don’t bat an eye if you ask for something, and they always just seem authentically kind and gracious The rooms are lovely, the food is incredible, and the staff is beyond 5 stars! Thank you for always being so wonderful to us!

Here for a softball tournament The hotel was the host hotel but they were not very host like Broken elevator, out of towels at the pool, add a $250 fee if your kids our load during quiet time

Parking lot wasn’t the best The in house restaurant was understaffed and not many options Wayne the bar tender was amazing nice and polite Needed help running the restaurant and bar The lady running breakfast buffet came in on her day off was amazing also she had to cook and stock the buffet on top of cleaning the tables The hotel really drop the ball on this However they had so many front desk people maybe one or two of them could of help out in the restaurant or at least kept up with the towel and house keeping Our room never seen a house keeper we was in it for almost a week Trash was over filling so we went got a large bag to dump the trash in The room need so serious cleaning Found broken glass and other trash beside the bed and under the chair cushion The bed wasn’t level or very comfortable The remote work half the time The bathroom paint was cracking and falling down The bathroom was designed for kids not adults The counter was at way below waist and the toilet felt like you where sitting on the floor I’m 5ft10 so I felt like a giant in there The room doors don’t close alway until you pull them shut and check to make sure they close The little market they had on site was low or out of stuff

Autumn S

The entryway was very nice and the staff seemed friendly The parking lot was a little weird and seemed small for how large the place was The rooms were not as nice and the entrance and “garden view” apparently just means access to the pool

It would be convenient had I brought my bathing suit, but few plants were in sightWent to check out breakfast but it was going to be like $12 for a standard buffet unless you pre-purchased meal tickets with your stay (which wasn’t offered when I booked) so we decided to eat elsewhere Stay wasn’t bad but I think we’ll stay at the Holiday Inn Express like we usually do next time, at least we always know exactly what to expect like breakfast

Lorie Young

We stayed here for 4 very long days and I would not recommend this place to anyoneDo not let the lobby deceive you It is beautiful, updated, and very clean but that is not the case for the rest of the hotel

There are two elevators in the hotel and only one worked the whole time we were there The buttons inside and outside the elevator were filthy, the hand sanitizer stations near the elevators were empty for all 4 days, we couldn’t tell what was on the floor… was it pizza sauce or blood? And the one working elevator, was very slowThe room we were given was right next to the elevators All night long, we heard the elevator going up and down, stopping at each floor and would bang really loud every time it would stopThe rooms have not been updated The bed was uncomfortable There was mold in the shower, and the bathroom sink didn’t drain It’s like everything was designed for shorter people If you over 5’5” good luckAnd finally, there is a restaurant in the hotel but it is only open during breakfast and dinner, and that is if the cook shows up The breakfast is not free, you actually need to add that to your reservation if you want it included Spend your hard earned money at a different establishment

This is our second extended stay at Staybridge Suites in Johnson City In 2021, everything was fantastic In 2022, this hotel has deteriorated quickly! Examples: Garbage and towels put out in hall for pickup, still in the hall one and two DAYS later

Garbage from many guests at the trash can by the elevator (bags and bags), not picked up for days It was a fight to get towels, and then we would have to go to the desk to get them The room was not cleaned a single time in ten days We had to request sheets and change them ourselves The room had a broken toilet seat The slider shower door would not stay closed The lights and fan on the microwave didn’t work They had malfunctioning fire alarms, and didn’t bother to tell anyone whether or not to evacuate BUT THE WORST PART the front entrance is full of cigarette smoke I don’t care that people smoke, but I don’t think guests should have to navigate a crowd of smokers to get in the front door They could have a designated smoking area on the interior lawn but then I guess the front desk people wouldn’t be able to smoke and watch the front desk We spent about 2k on this stay, just for the hotel Very disappointed in the conditions and the lack of staffing to manage the hotel appropriately We didn’t eat breakfast, well, because if the rooms and common areas are that dirty, can the food really be all that sanitary?? Good points laundry is still free, but go early to get a machine The mattresses are comfy The two king suite is nice for a family; has two bedrooms/bathrooms and actually had three king beds If you are prepped to do all of your own linens/towels/garbage, then this might be an okay place to stay!!

John Paskell

Not a good experience this timeI got here at 7:00pm and rooms were STILL not ready Had to wait 30 minutes to get into my room

Then I went to buy some frozen food from the front desk, just to find out the GM does not allow you to put food on the roomHad I known that, I would have picked something up while I had to wait on my room to get readyNow I have to go back out to get something to eat! It’s OK though it’s not like gas prices are historically high oh waitBad job IHG, bad job

Brandi Elliott

Stay was OK at best However my main issue

we booked at a military rate which should have been discounted for the 7 days we first stayed + the 17 extended days a few weeks later They charged us the full rate and assured us they would refund for accidentally charging Supposedly the manager was out “sick” so she had to wait for her After a MONTH of the run around now we’re being told no refund… absolutely absurd we are getting screwed out of $600 This WILL be reported as it was their mistake and essentially now fraud
