Debbie Giusti

The room was clean and the staff very friendly, love the refrigerator and microwave in every room But that’s all I can say about it The but was like a trampoline, the walls had holes that were patched but never painted, there was no clock or radio in the room, and the electrical socket was so far from the bed that I had to get up to see what time it was

The heater sounded like a car going through a crusher You need to be able to carry your luggage up stairs because there is no elevator We asked for 2 rooms near each other and got 2 rooms as far from each other as it was possible to be The indoor pool is beautiful, and the Eel River Pub next door is a fun place to eat Easy parking

sara dryden

This is a motel that has been re-done to make it look and feel more upscale and “boutique”, sandwiched between two chain motels They did a nice job overall, loved the murals, lobby, and dog area The name is a misnomer, not a walk by a river or redwoods, but as a place to lay our heads as we explored the redwoods, it was fine

It was pretty loud, cement walls reverberated, but it was clean and friendly Walk to Eel River Brewery with a nice outdoor seating area (dog friendly!)

Rebecca Leerssen

We had a great stay at the Redwood Riverwalk The room was clean and the shower was great We were able to walk right over Eel River Brewing for a great meal & beer

The breakfast at this hotel is absolutely fantastic Everything was fresh and organic; biscuits and gravy, yogurt with blueberries and granola, fresh fruit, blueberry muffins, and fresh coffee

Becky , employee at the Cafe inside casino, is a fantastic asset to your establishment Even when dealing with a long line of customers, she keeps a level head, makes everyone smile and is highly efficient no matter the volume of orders coming in at onceThe staff in the kitchen are great as well

The casino has some of the sweetest little ladies who clean machines regularOnly staff who can use improvement are some of the security at entranceThey are slow to greet if they do greet and they don’t go out of their way to open doors for customers entering casinoThere should be better poker tournaments on a regular basis as wellHotel is nice and rooms are well stocked and clean

Avery Ziglubon

Everything we in the dinning lounge was delicious The casino table hosts were all very pleasant and eager to help and the security opened the door for us We had a ball playing and even won a little money💰

Decided to stop here bc it was the closest motel to us when we decided to be done driving for the evening What a fortuitous decision that turned out to be! The area is very quiet and so was the motel Although the rooms look a bit vintage, they are comfortable & incredibly clean

Like, incredibly The towels are amazingly soft & the shower has great pressure with plenty of hot water There are also ceiling fans in the room, which I have never seen before That was a great touch, for me If you’re looking for a comfy place to spend the night, look no further

Gary Neumann

My mom and her friend stayed here for about a week when they came to visit around Thanksgiving time My mom said she was pleased with the accommodations It was nothing fancy but it was clean, quiet, the room had a really nice TV, full size fridge, there was cute sitting area outside in a little garden area (complete with bbq and picnic tables), the owner was very nice

Last but not least, the price was right It was perfect for what they needed for this trip If my mom was happy with it then you know that I was happy too

Kathleen Wilson

Very clean and cozy I’ve stayed at a couple of different places in the area but this is by far the nicest for the price tag The shower heads had good pressure so I also felt very clean after a long day exploring the redwoods

The cat was also very friendly so it was really comforting getting to pet it when I was missing my own fur babies

I am livid that I called in to book 2 nights, they made me book 3 for a 3 night weekend minimum, then their new worker Cheyenne charged me for 4 nights When I went to the office to clear it up and get a refund for the 1 night, they told me I must have misunderstood and so it’s my fault Wow

Oh and the person with the power to refund me isn’t available How convenient If the owner will contact me I will happily remove my bad review

Macy Suchan

They raised the prices at check out, the place was gross, and the staff was incredibly rude to all of our guests who stayed during our wedding weekend because one guest had to cancel her reservation a couple days before when she found out she had Covid She canceled so as to not get everyone at our wedding sick They asked multiple different guests of ours if they were related to her which is just so inappropriate and even went so far as to tell my mother in law they weren’t sure if they were even going to let her stay there the night before our wedding because of it… just horrible customer service

They told her our aunt should have canceled two weeks before…what kind of policy is that? I’m grateful we were able to book an Airbnb that honestly cost less and was so incredibly quaint and clean Do not stay here Try the Scotia lodge instead if no airbnbs are available Camping is a better choice as well

Jen Brady

Very clean, small cabins No issues with check in Plenty of hot water/pressure for showers

Went in November off season with the husband and dog as a base camp to visit Avenue of the Giants/Eureka Lots of small touches (birdhouses, Christmas lights, flowers), can see how it would be great fun for kids and families in the summer, post COVID (hopefully the fire table and hot tub will reopen for use then) Room rates increased 20% between the time of our reservation and payment upon arrival, but price was fine and location in the redwoods was far better than staying in Eureka Would return!

This place was awesome! Beautiful and thoughtful aesthetic, vibe, decor Comfy bed Cool history and charming

Our room came with a little binder with some info about Scotia history and the hotel The bar downstairs was awesome – good cocktails, service, and ambiance We usually never spend that much on a hotel room, but it was worth it because we got there early enough to enjoy the space, get an appetizer, and hang out at the bar and chat with with people (they stay open up until 10 BUT if it’s super slow they might close early, FYI) I will say that for one of us, the shower in the morning got a bit cold, but maybe that’s just part of staying in an old building – we didn’t mind much Overall, a great experience!!!

Samantha Dean

Wonderful experience Upon arrival in the chilly night air we were offered a hot towel and a complimentary beverage The front desk clerk personally showed us to our room and got us settled in

Room was excellent and the Caspar bed gave us the best night’s sleep we’ve had in a long time Local brand coffee in the room was so delicious we found where it was sold so we could bring some home Conveniently located across from a gas station and a market so everything you need is fingertips away Can’t wait to go back!!

Stephanie Vick

I love this place Will definitely be staying again soon The bar is awesome, the burgers were delicious! And the amenities just 👏👏👏 icing on the cake! Super cool in-room shopping as well with the mini-bar and special menu of fancy treats! The room decor is so pretty, and we loved the old windows in our room

We got snacks and hung out at a picnic table until the sun went behind the tree-topped ridge behind Hoby’s Market Pro tip, pick up some treats from the market like mini powdered donuts Took the pour over coffee in my room to another level 10/10 definitely recommend

A friendly and safe place to stay on US 101

Staff aware of your needs and welcome you to clean rooms and a hot breakfast On a cold day, the warm rooms welcome you and take the edge off of a long drive The parking lot is fashioned in a horseshoe shape and your room is only a walk away even if you park on the other side This is a good place to stay regularly

Jack Cannata

Our complaints are that they’ve cut back on room service to every three days, and the in-room coffee is terribly weak if you’re going to make coffee yourself, double up on the packets they give you! Becomes much more drinkable The room is clean and comfortable, the breakfast is adequate, and the chocolate chip cookies in the lobby are great!

G W

I stayed here for about 4 weeks while we did tree work on murder mountain Very clean, everything was in working order, we Bar-B-Q’d I was a little bummed that we had to miss out on the main breakfast because it didn’t open until 6 am and we had to leave at 5 am everyday

They offer a breakfast to go if you request it the night before which was nice However, I found that it was useless to request when the older guy was working He put a bottle of water in a bag with a granola bar Kim on the other hand, made our day better because she actually cared She even wrote on our bags, have a nice day with a smiley face Thank you Kim! As for that dude, he sucks

So much more than I expected! We booked the two-bedroom cabin last minute and I was a bit worried because I could not tell much from the photos I even called the property to get a bit more information about setting up fire pits and all that The place was clean, the cabin had electricity the noise was not too bad at night, the cabin swing was adorable bathrooms were CLEAN! The staff was super friendly spa was hot and the pool was cool

I was very impressed and happy with my stay also the store did not charge an arm and a leg for supplies so that was also wonderful if I could give it 6 stars I would!

Stephen Nichols

BEWARE They charged a booking fee of $10 but didn’t tell me when I called for a reservation They are trying to be like airlines and hotels: charge unnecessary fees to boost the bottom line

I never thought I would see this in this in the RV world and I have been RVing for over 20 years 99% of RV parks are honest and straightforward, not this one I won’t be back Otherwise, it is a good facility

Lovely little bed and breakfast Dog friendly on certain rooms, extra $25/night Friendly host

Very comfortable rooms, very nice decor Very clean Some rooms enter from the outside which is super nice, some also have private balconies or porches Grounds are gorgeous, very relaxing and private but also right in town, we walked to dinner No fridge in our room, shared fridge in common area Common areas are very nice, great for having a glass of wine and reading a book Breakfast was buffet style and excellent Scratch made quiche, Canadian bacon, and the usual assortment of pastries and cereals, but with organic milk and tea options Highly recommend

Hugh Byrne

Lovely location and comfortable accommodations We were last minute reservations with a pet, and as such only the most expensive room was available Furnishings are comfortable, and large grounds are reasonably well-maintained, though looking worn

Breakfast was decidedly a disappointment, even allowing for COVID limitations, with an offering of stale muffins, fruit and a refrigerator with a selection of yogurt, some past sell by date (coffee was quite good) Service was limited, but uniformly friendly While we were grateful for the last-minute booking, and comfortable at Shaw House, would probably look for better value elsewhere in the future

Carolyn Whipple

What a beautiful and neat historic place! The bed was super soft, the room was gorgeous The chef had made us a delicious breakfast in the morning The gardens around the house are beautiful and peaceful

It’s close to historic little downtown In addition to all of that, it’s pet-friendly, and the proprietors could not have been more accommodating to my dog, providing her with her own towel to lie on and a few little treats!

A beautiful B&B in an adorable town We arrived a little later, and the lady welcoming us was very friendly and helpful Our room was very clean and well appointed

We were not impressed at all when the breakfast provided For such a beautiful place, and the history that goes along with it, one would expect a more intimate experience and better food and coffee especially for the price

Marie Kang-Scott

Gingerbread mansion Inn is old but very cute and a block from the main street We stopped by on our way home from the Oregon coast to LA area The main street in Ferndale has cute shops, but most closed by 4pm

The service was ‘okay’ and the veggies were a bit solid

BUT but the rest of the food was truly outstanding!! Spicy garlic prawns came with a sauce so sublime we used our calamari and ordered extra bread (warm and crispy) to soak it up! Great clam chowder and steaks cooked to perfection Other little niceties included a bowl of extra parmasan and a bowl of croutons Good wine too All in all, a top meal Definitely worth a trip

Beverly Soto

I received a recommendation for this restaurant while staying at an Airbnb in Ferndale and boy am I glad that I dropped in I visited during COVID 19 and unfortunately was only able to pick up food to go However, the woman who answered the phone when I rang was extremely friendly

I asked her if there was any vegan options on the menu and she offered the primavera pasta sans cheese and a few other ingredients When I picked the food up, I could already tell that I was in for a treat as the smell of the pasta wafted in the airBack at the farm when I was finally able to open the cardboard box containing my food, I was privileged to indulge in one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had Wonderfully seasoned vegetables, perfectly cooked pasta, and a wonderful sauce of garlic and olive oil all tied in perfectly to one mouth watering dish This pasta made me happy so happy that called in the following day to pick up another for dinnerThe woman who initially helped me remembered me and was ever so pleasant I made sure to express my love of the restaurant and Ferndale in general It’s such a pleasant place to visit and everyone I encountered was very oh so welcomingThe only thing I was disappointed with is that I was unable to dine indoors The interior looks to have a lot of history/character and honestly, I could have used a drink But, that’s no fault of the restaurant

Easy access near 101 but no road noise Good for big rigs

Looks unkempt and old fashioned- it is However, it was great for us Butch met us in his golf-cart (& dog Bailey) Pull through sites for us and friends in same size RV Old park with many permanent regulars who were all friendly Really quirky, interesting campground to walk around and enjoy amazing old, huge trees On our site the water we connected to was brown – we think from rust, useable but not attractive Our power 30 amp only which worked fine Cell was decent,2/3 bars, we’re on Verizon We don’t use site showers/restrooms but looked in via coded entrance, very dated, expect old facilities, this might lower our star-rating if we needed to use them I guess We felt that we’d had a good value time discovering this little gem with awesome big trees and one particular extraordinary house built by hand in a 1200 yostump Great dog friendly stop over Olde worldy❣️

We stayed here in our van on a road trip from San Francisco to Portland I think of all the RV parks/campgrounds we stayed at along the way, this was in my top 3 We got in late which was such a hassle (if not impossible w/o a reservation) at a lot places, but there was an older gentleman at the front window that got us all set up

Price was the most affordable of the trip The women’s bathroom has a code to get in which I really appreciated showering late at night Bathrooms and showers were clean (there are water stains, but it’s clean) and no one else came in any time I used them Campground was quiet and felt safe As other reviews have mentioned, there are long term residents here- it’s an RV park, not sure why that would dissuade you from staying here

R S

The good: Very cute tree house for rent, cute little cabins to rent, very close to avenue of the giants Near by town of Fortuna has essentials The back of the park is for short stays, it’s descent enough

The tent area looked really niceThe not so good: front of park very run down, lots of long termers The short stay sites are set up very weird Very close to your neighbors Husband used shower one night, said it was very tight There were people camping in cars all around, felt creepy They were in & out of bathrooms all day & night There’s no sewage, but there’s a dump, you’ll block whole road to use it There’s 2 washers & 2 dryers, very old, didn’t use themIt was what was available so it was what we had to go with Seeing the redwoods on the avenue of the giants made it worth it, but we won’t stay again if we’re back in the area
