I have stayed here a couple of times for work First time was decent , this past time was the best ! I was by myself and I have mobility issues and the staff ( particularly Jamie and Denise ) went above and beyond to help me and did it as if they had been my friend for years That means so much when you are away from home

My room was accommodating I have found that many hotels even if they say “ handicap accessible “ still lack many needs This hotel did not I’m very thankful for their help and will be back if in the area Thank you

Located in downtown Ashland, this hotel features a number of great amenities and appears to be either brand new or completely remodeled We got a suite which includes a separate bedroom and a living room The furniture was nice, bedroom was large, beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was large with good counter space

The service was excellent Some of the great amenities and features include a highly rated restaurant, 2 bars, convenience store, large fitness center, business center, Starbucks, free parking, HBO Max access, and room service The only things you will want to be wary of are the following: possible long waits at restaurant on busy nights (there was an hour and a half wait due to a concert in the area when we were there), breakfast is not free, and there is no pool

Christina Olmsted

Upon arrival, we went to the room which had a strange smell of old cigarettes that was immediately overwhelming We found the fridge to be dirty and have a nasty smell coming from it We called ahead to inform the hotel that a fridge and freezer were absolutely vital due to me being a breast feeding mother with the need to store breast milk

The sheets were also stained with what looked like human fluids and had hair all over them The floor was disgusting with visible dirt and hair We called management who then inspected the room and agreed that it was dirty and said they would get us another room We then went to the second room, which was dirty and unsanitary as well The fridge was dirty and was leaking water, the sheets were stained with blood and again what appeared to be human fluids There was also hair all over the sheets Stained sheets, dirty and unsanitary living conditions, and foul smells are to be expected at a best western, not a “premium” Marriott hotel I have stayed at holiday inns that had higher cleanliness standards than this Marriott We drove six hours to get to this hotel to see a concert the same night of our arrival but since this hotel could not have a room with basic clean and sanitary living conditions, we had to drive back home (another six hours) and we were not able to attend the concert All this to say, no I would not recommend staying at this hotel to anybody, ever At a rate of $540 for two nights, I expect to, at a minimum, be provided a room that is safe for a five month old to stay in This hotel could not provide that, and they had two chances to get it right I’m sure that we are not the only people to be presented with disgusting room, but we are either the only people that are calling them out on their terrible way of treating guests, or they have been told their rooms are nasty and they don’t care enough to change it Either way is disgusting Lastly, I did not feel like anybody really cared to lose our business It just felt like they couldn’t care less about the situation Only one lady at the front desk seemed genuinely sorry, but it was very clear that the head of house keeping could not care less that HER staff was not doing there jobs Again, no I won’t be recommending anybody stay there

We stayed for 5 nights and never received maid service one day I had to keep asking for towels and and the last day, I had to go to the front desk No there wasn’t a Do Not Disturb sign

I told two of the maids were were gone for the day and it was all theirs The first night the sink was stopped up so they moved us to another room The other room had a phone but no cord to connect to the wall so it did not work I was ok with that until I had to contact the front desk for more towelsThe cook was great Good food and she kept it clean The staff was friendly too1 Star because our room wasn’t cleaned one time and no towels unless I went to get them I told the staff but they didn’t seem to interested in listeningI travel to that area a lot but I will not be staying there again Ah yea, they had no problems charging me the full rate

Lynne Andrews

Paid in full for a night with 3 adults, a baby, and a 10 year old thru booking dot com Hotel was ready to serve me when we arrived, until my multiracial daughter walked in Then suddenly, they had no reservation for me and no proof I had paid

They refused to look up the confirmation number I had and stated that if it isn’t under my name, then I won’t be checking in My husband at home contacted booking and they sent the confirmation over THREE more times while I was standing in the lobby The young desk clerk said “maybe this is your confirmation” as she reached for a new fax The older woman snatched the paper from her hands and said “I already told you that these people don’t have a reservation here and they will NOT be staying with us, no matter what booking sends” At that point I realized what the trouble really was and that it had nothing to do with booking Unfortunately, so did my kiddo She sat in the car crying “I shouldn’t have gone in the hotel in this redneck town mommy, we both knew better” while I handled the issue with booking and they moved us to a nearby hotel that was not racist Save yourself the trouble, just stay at the Days Inn They aren’t racist and even gave my kids a cake they had baked while we checked in and told them about our nightmare at the Hampton Inn Ashland, Kentucky is NOT a sundown town But clearly there are some racist people that handle the Hampton Inn there It’s really sad this still happens in a country as old as ours We will never again stay at a Hampton Inn, no matter where it is We are horrified and my daughter is traumatized Those desk clerks should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and I hope they end up on the other end of the racism counter one day

Rebeca Culver

Checking in, we waited there for 5 mins no one came I had to call to get someone at the front desk to check in The lady that checked us was unpleasant, made it very clear if we smoked in a room we would be charged

Which is her job but say it nicer, plus we don’t smoke The 3 days we stayed no one came to clean our roomwe didn’t have the “do not disturb” on the door When taking a shower the drain seemed clogged because you was standing in 2 inches of water, the water skicked was so lose i could move it 180 degrees both ways First time and our last time staying at any Hampton Inn hotels

Horrible experience They had overbooked and we had to take a smoking room Which really did not matter, the whole hotel smelled of cigarette smoke

They did not want to give you towels Tubs were small, slippery and no grab bar of any type Forget the breakfast No coffee makers in room Best reason to stay, if you were out in horrible storm, it would get you out of the storm

Annie Hancock

The pool is great, nice and warm The lady who checked us in was friendly and helpfulThe reason for 3 stars is the actual rooms, they weren’t messy, but not worth the price for sure

This hotel is maybe worth 70-80 and the price is way over what I think it’s worth The beds are extremely hard and not comfortable One of the male staff members was bumming cigs off of my mom Not the worst place I’ve stayed but not the best either

Michael Pitts

We were flooded by the most recent storm and needed a place for a couple of days We booked thru one of the coms on line

When I called the front desk to see if we could get an early check in at noon, I explained to her our dire situation She immediately responded and asked me if we were from Huntington, to which I replied, Yes we were flooded here She then replied “oh you’re going to have to pay an additional charge forincidentles because you’re local” I said really! That’s not very nice! However I’m from Florida but have a house here near the park, so do I still get charged? She then asked if I had identification to prove this? Of course I did but was still chargedI was taken back by the whole encounter!Prior to checking in we purchased some food from the grocery store so that we could dine in, microwave dinners, coffee ect, as every Ramada I ever stayed in had a coffee pot, refrigerator, microwaveMuch to my surprise there wasn’t a microwave or a coffee pot I asked about it and was told that the rooms didn’t have them I was very incredulous and asked some other patrons at the Hotel and just as I thought, they had microwaves and one had a coffee potWe were also put in a smoking room furnished with sheets and comforters complete with burn holes The charge applied to my wife card has not been returnedI must say that I have always found Ramada to be one of the finest Hotels but this was very disheartening

For a 2 star hotel, this place was great! We’ve been in the road for several days and have stayed in numerous places, but this was by far the best The breakfast was great, the staff was so nice and the location was perfect Right on a huge hill overlooking the city

It was clean, comfortable and we loved the patio area I’d stay here again and again! It was truly a great place!

Stephanie Heck

This motel said to an elevated location which results in a panoramic view of the local City and countryside The Establishment is well maintained and the accommodations are well above average Staff is courteous and helpful

The motel is a little off the interstate but well worth the drive up the hill to get to it Get her room on the back side of the hotel for an outstanding I unobstructed view for miles of the surrounding area

Steve Smith

Very nice rooms and beautiful views Extremely friendly staff especially housekeeping We went here so the kids could swim and luckily there was no one else there because the pool was very tiny

The gym is a good size I love that there were tables and a fireplace outside It was nice that we could bring our dinner and eat out there and we also took our breakfast out to eat, it over looks the mountains I assume pre covid they had better breakfast options because of the set up but there were not many choices, especially for our kids But there is plenty of seating in the breakfast area and it was kept extremely clean and they made sure the food was kept stocked

We had a great experience, at this location! Our home was damaged and we stayed here for a period of time, awaiting the home repairs The breakfast is amazing! Western omelets, bacon, sausage links, sausage patties, etc Typically, it’s the same food, everyday, however, they had a different style of eggs and meat, each day

The hostess, Brenda, is a doll! So sweet and always smiling The front desk went out of their way to find us a room, elsewhere, when they had no vacancy We quickly returned and we happy to do so! Definitely A+ ,5 Stars!

Sean Aryk

First of all: This hotel DOES NOT usually accept pets despite what Google says That being said, the front desk staff was extremely understanding of our situation and allowed us to stay The room was nice and clean, the breakfast was better than a lot of other hotel breakfasts we’ve had, and the bed was comfy

This was the perfect place for our stop on the way to Illinois

Mark Hotle

Typical Hampton Inn stay — quality service and cheerful, courteous staffHad king room Clean, comfortable bed, hot showers, cold A/C, and good water pressure– my 5 must haves

Easily access to interstate, but quietNext door to cracker barrelThis is why I choose Hampton Inns, they do not disappoint

Beautifully upgraded! As a designer I appreciate how they saved money by changing cabinets and furniture etcEventually they may want to replace the granite and have 2 sinks? But it’s really gorgeousLove the common areas

It’s very relaxingThey have been very helpfulLove the area and charming townGreat priceOnly draw back is they don’t have purple mattresses The beds aren’t bad but we can’t go anywhere anymore because we got spoiled with our purpleIt’s great they have special mattress covers smart to keep them cleanNice size TVMini fridge and microwaveVery nice sitting area!Good job! We needed lots of rest while traveling so we stayed an extra day!

David Humston

I love this hotel! Stayed here 3 times now and it’s always the same The gym is much nicer than most other hotel gyms There are actually plenty of treadmills and a separate room for free weights/machines! The staff is excellent

The food at the restaurant is good and they have Starbucks coffee The bar is large enough that it’s rarely full I will always recommend this hotel to anyone staying in downtown Huntington! Plus, there are so many places within walking distance, including Marshall University

Holly Mount

We are local and reserved a suite for a much needed Cabin Fever cure Our kids swam their hearts out and we played games and had a blast at our Staycation Sleepover! The staff was very kind and accommodating, and the hotel was extremely clean and lovely We love that we are able to turn our local establishments into affordable fun

Dinner at Backyard across the street and the excellent breakfast buffet and coffee rounded out the experience, and we drove the 15 miles home feeling refreshed ☀️ 💦We also had a pretty cool view!

The staff was excellent Room was clean and the property seems to be well kept But the noise was overwhelming

We were placed on the 2nd floor and the guests on the 3rd floor sounded like a herd off cattle on bubble wrap We could clearly hear a toilet flush or shower run in either direction I’ve stayed at low rate roach motels with better sound suppression The owners of this facility seem to like to hang “out of order” signs on anything they don’t want to repair or service; the pool has “equipment issues” for several months (as I was told by staff) and the only access to the motel is through the front door as the side doors are “out of order” But again, compliments to the staff for being great, but I would probably look somewhere else before staying here again

William Larsen

First, the hotel clerk was very nice Pleasant and accomodatingThe first disappointment came after check in, we were told the pool was closed for repairs but that was not noted on the Marriott App

The hotel walls were damaged, wall paper was peeling and bubbling When the elevator opened it busted inside, the panelling was coming apart, metal plates were damaged and smelled of mold or mildew When we arrived at the room , the door was propped open We were worried to go in there, it was nearly midnight and not sure who had been in there or why the door was propped open but the front desk gave us another room just to be safeHowever the second room carpet was musty and damp, the desk chair pleather was peeled and cracking severely The bathroom was well over due for a refresh Moldy spots and old materialsLastly, the bed frame was broken and the bed fell off to one side and my 4 yo rolled out on to the floor If this was a 1 star hotel I would have given it a 2 star review but for a Fairfield Inn it would have received 0 if I could have This hotel is about 3-4 years overdue for a remodel on the rooms Doubtful this place remains a Marriott property with out significant renovations

Business and EventsOur company had a retirement dinner for a longtime staff in one of the event rooms The Catering & Event Manager, Danielle Pennington was second to none She had the room set up early for us to decorate and was extremely accommodating

She was quick to get us the tables that we need for displays and assisted us with decoating Everything was just perfect when all the guest arrived Danielle wasn’t supposed to be there during the event but stayed the entire evening to make sure everything was perfect for us The food and beverages were just wonderful The pepperoni rolls and the dinner rolls are to die for My complements to the chef Everyone loved the food Brittany, our server, was really on top of everything She was quick to ask if there was anything else we needed and stayed on top of the beverage station and the buffet She and Danielle really made it a perfect evening for all our staff It was a pleasure to work such friendly, courteous and caring individuals We will definitely use Delta’s Business and Event Center again

The staff was very friendly and helpfulThe hotel was very clean and our room was great We had an executive suite and the livingroom was alot hotter than the bedroom

Maybe look into a way to control temperature in both rooms Also the hallway on the second floor was miserably hot I felt very bad for housekeeping because they all looked very sweaty with good reason I would be sweating just walking to the elevator The Hotel does not offer complimentary coffee downstairs They only offer single coffees in your room and the inside of the water reservoir was dirty and took over half an hour to clean and run water through multiple times to clean it out They did not offer free breakfast items and juice I would expect a little more for paying so much for a night’s stay But still one of the nicest hotels in the area

Kayla

Everything was Great Staff was always Friendly Very clean

Rooms are clean and staff is great, but the walls are ridiculously thin If you want a good night’s sleep, make sure the hotel is empty or bring ear plugs You can clearly hear the people talking or watching TV on both sides of the room

Plus, if anyone is even walking in the room above you, you’ll hear the thumps You can even hear people talking in the room above you through the vent in the bathroom I’ve never been at a hotel with so little noise barriersStaff couldn’t move us, but I’m not sure that would have mattered We’re here for several more nights and hopefully the place empties out to where we can actually have a quiet room It’s like surround sound, and these people aren’t being loud or obnoxious, they’re just talking normally We hear everything Not good

×Was in Huntington for tests at CHH two days in a row so we stayed here There was only 1 bar of soap for bathing and sink use No clock in the room

We ask for one at front desk and was given one but it was broken, when we called about it was told they didn’t have any more The commode had a ring of mold growing in it There was 2 coffee pods both decaf No coffee cup covers to protect hands from heat No coffee condiments at all Room was very dusty We got there late afternoon checked in, went to CHH by the time we got back it was late and I needed to go to bed so we did Just a bad experience

I love the look of the house and was decorated so nicely for Christmas We loved having our own private bathroom in our room and it was so quite and peaceful I was a little disappointed with the breakfast

This was the first time we have stayed at a bed and breakfast so I was expecting a really nice signature breakfast but honestly I’ve had better breakfast at a continental hotel (our breakfast consisted of what appeared to be microwavable bacon and sausage, eggs which were really good and could make ourselves toast bagels and oatmeal along with option of yogurt and other little prepackaged snacks) So overall a little overpriced but a nice little stay

Louise L

Just checked out of there on 6/28/19 and stayed in the Governor Willis Suite This place is WONDERFUL!! Tina and Alan are so very friendly and accommodating Karen is wonderful! This place is VERY clean and ran efficiently

Ashland Central Park is only a block away, and there are bicycles at the INN that you can use if you want to ride around The INN is nestled among blocks of historical homes and the neighborhood is beautiful! It’s also convenient to restaurants and grocery stores, yet it’s quiet and cozy I absolutely LOVE this place and definitely recommend it!

Melissa Muncy

What a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived! Tina was such a gracious host and her inn is nothing short of stunning! Pristine and beautifully decorated It truly felt like a home away from home I travel frequently for business and was looking for a more private and upscale stay at an affordable price, and The Governor’s Inn fit the bill perfectly! Definitely will be staying again!

Cabin has handicap accessible features, but the bathroom has some shortcomings It has only a handheld shower and no way to raise nozzle for someone who is standing Nozzle only sprays toward the wall Needs a complete redo to be honest But that didn’t affect our enjoyment of the cabin This cabin is 2 bedrooms but it’s so spacious you can have a crowd and not be stepping on each other Nice deck also No view of the lake however Wifi works fine, which is a plus for those of us who have to workWe received a pool pass with the cabin rental, so that was nice (didn’t use it) Be sure to pack in whatever food, drinks, other things you’ll need The park has a very small camp store with limited selection, and nearest stores are 20-30 minutes out

Their campground is nice, they have a few play areas, places to fish, an old cabin to site see In the summer they also have a pool and sandy beach area to swim There’s good places to walk around and kids can get good exercise roaming around

I do have bathroom and shower on site and a small laundry room which is convenient Also has a camp store just in case you forgot something

I did not stay here in one of the rooms I actually had an interview there for a housekeeping position But upon arriving there, the ladies at the front desk were super nice and helpful

The lobby was beautiful, and extremely clean The lady who conducted my interviews name was Tina She was very nice Extremely thorough about the position she was hiring for, and very upfront and honest about what she expected and how they conducted business there, which to me, is always a plus Every single employee I came across while there was very nice and everyone had a smile on their face It’s a very nice, clean, pleasant and positive environment to be in

Friendly service when we made it in to check into the hotel No problem with the valet parking at all I can say we were a little upset that they advertise “free breakfast” and when we went to get some, it was an extra $18 per person

The beds were not very comfortable at all It is a good spot if you need something just for the night and are not staying long at all

Fantastic location and stay I chose a 10th floor room facing the city on the Hilton Honors App after booking my room online I utilized the digital check in and digital key services

They were effortless and worked flawlessly during my 2 night stay The area can be a bit noisy during the weekend when the bars and lounges close around 1-2am but it was expected as this area is close to the collage sorority and fraternity homes but the sounds were muffled and would only be noticed by light sleepers The staff and valet were very helpful when I arrived at 2am and was unaware as to where to park They have very affordable valet services that will park your vehicle in an attached parking garage for $8 per day I utilized the free weekend street parking which was directly in front of the hotel on 3rd street The street parking is not free during weekdays and I believe city parking meters would be needed so I suggest taking advantage of the valet during the week Overall, I would definitely return and will utilize the guest restaurant and lounge services during my next visit as I was unable to try their menus which looked delicious I was hesitant because this hotel does have a few bad reviews however after my stay I honestly feel like most of the negative reviews were written by individuals who are the type who believe the world should bend at their whim and will lose all self composition if they are told no or they can not have something exactly to their unrealistic specifications The same negative Nancys we see on viral videos on airlines trying to fight the attendants for enforcing mask regulations Don’t be that person Nobody likes that person, especially hotel staff
