Hotel is in a nice part of town, conveniently located Felt safe Honestly I’d call this review a 35

The hotel lobby was so nice, throughout the hotel was clean Pool was nice and kid friendly! The fitness center was underwhelming compared to other La Quinta’s we had been in, and about half of the equipment was broken/damaged The room was nice in appearance and clean, but smelled like other pets when we arrived Front desk staff when I called for the reservation wasn’t the best customer service, but after we arrived the experience was pleasant

Anna and Bradley Lane

I chose his hotel because I frequently stay at La Quinta‘s, and this is close to the airport for my 6 AM flight I was pleasantly surprised with the updated lobby, cleanliness, easy check-in experience The staff was gracious, warm, and very accommodating – Even when I checked in at 9 PM

The hotel and parking lot seemed very secureMy room was updated with nice finished, very comfortable, and quiet Those are the things I ask especially before traveling for work I will absolutely stay again

Stevana Clark

Rooms were good and clean, comfortable beds, only issue was that it was hot and the a/c didn’t work well at all Pool was nice but they shut off the lights at 9:20 and the pool wasn’t supposed to close until 10pm Wasn’t a fan of there only being one entrance into the hotel

Breakfast was inedible We ended up going somewhere else to eat Will stay somewhere else on our next visit to Kansas City

NOT A REAL HYATT! Nice staff but the hotel needs some serious updating 1st room they sent us to was not even cleaned yet, no towels or soap & disgusting green tinge on bathroom door handle Not worth your money!! & yeah I totally agree with any other negative reviews about this place! I understand it’s hard to find workers these days but then just say your full

Felt sorry for the one maid that was there at 10pm still cleaning rooms!! My one star is generous

Kathryn Edward

I would give it 0 stars if I could No one was at the front desk for a solid 20 minutes, and when someone finally came they proceeded to ignore me and take the phone call that had been ringing for 5-10 minutes Fine, I checked into my room and it was great looking, but there were crumbs all over the couch, some random guy’s shoes still there, and there were *blood* stains on the bed… I was disgusted so I moved to the couch bed

That was even worse It smelled of urine I slept the night in the bed and was starving the next morning I went down for breakfast and it was DISGUSTING There was a white foam over the eggs and the tortillas were molding together The “oatmeal” was oats in cold water in a cooking pot I’ve been with hyatt for a long time and never have I ever seen something this appalling Do not stay here

Brian Diamond

HORRIBLE Experience!! We booked two rooms The first one was right next to the pool The entire night we could smell weed so noone was bothering to check anything outside

The other room when we checked in was HORRIBLY Hot The thermostat was broken and was reading 78 degrees We were able to get the AC unit to turn on but it was either a meat locker at 62 degrees or a sauna at 78 degrees I will give the staff some credit as they did try to fix it by giving us a different room, but when we walked into that one it had a horrible smell of sewer gas so we decided to just give the hot/cold room a try for the night When we woke up the next morning, there was NO hot water Overall i would say this was a VERY BAD experience and we have stayed at this location several times in the past I highly doubt we will come back after this experience

This is a newer location down on Troost on KC I have stayed here several times before The first time was very nice and the location is good

I checked out today and I honestly cannot say the same The rooms have become worn very quickly In our room their were scrapes on the wall, the chair had old spill stains on it The floor was not cleaned well and I wish housekeeping would learn how to clean the floor of the shower (All it takes is a little baking soda to help get the dirt out Lastly, I always pull the sheets back and look for anything that requires attention While the sheets were clean they really should purchase a new mattress or clean the one in the room There was an old see through stain (maybe old blood) that was on the mattress This is absolutely gross I’m sorry As a Wyndham platinum rewards member, I always try to stay at the lower chains and honestly I’m gonna have to stop and stick with Marriott The noise has gotten out of control and the smoking outside the entry doors is annoying Cigarette butts are thrown all over the ground Management needs to look into these things

Derek Cowgur

The staff was awesome They were all great but night shift was the best Went out if their way to do more than could be expected after a mess up with Doordash

More than friendly and helpful It was like being among friends It was near downtown and one of the cheaper spots even booking 2-3months in advance Highly recommend this spot

Susan Payne

Booked a handicapped room here Got there about 2:30 (yes, too early) and was told the room wouldn’t be ready until 3 Went back at 3 and was told they had no idea when the room would be ready because she only had 2 maids

She was rude Didn’t ask for our phone number so she could call us when the room was ready Desk clerk was sitting outside smoking the whole time I had to keep the car windows up because even right outside the entrance the smoke smell was awful Had no idea if they really did have a handicapped room because the clerk didn’t go check the room in person when we called The area was a little sketchy on top of everything so we decided to just go somewhere else even tho we’d booked and paid for a room here Won’t be back!

Spacious room! Had a faulty air conditioner in my room, fan barely moved and it kept shutting off I told the front desk, maintenance came by and assessed the issue The manager said they would have a new one installed in 20 min

15 min later, a brand spanking new entire unit was installed The difference is night and day compared to the older unit Great service! 5 stars

Barbara Mason (Wax Boss)

We arrived without reservations The front desk clerk listened to our story and what we needed He then went straight to work on trying to meet our accommodation needs

He did! At the best rate possible too!! I am a rewards member with Best Western, so that’s one reason I stay at their hotels The room is very nice and spacious The bathroom has a handrail on the shower/tub combo to help with getting in and out Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, tv, and remote in the room A/C works great!

jmt green

Excellent hotel that’s affordable and close to the airport! Beautiful setting with very little traffic noise Super comfortable beds, and high quality brand HBA samples in the bathrooms One of the most impressive hot breakfast buffets we’ve ever seen and that says a lot, since my husband and I have opposite tastes

(He prefers country cooking; I prefer lean and healthy) And did I mention the friendly staff?! One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at!

This place was picture-perfect! If I were to describe it in three words, it would be clean, new and fresh The room was gorgeous, and check in/check out was super easy Additionally, all of the staff members with whom I interacted were extremely friendly and helpful

Being a Hilton Honors member, I did get a pretty sweet discount on the room, which certainly impacted my positive opinionMy only complaint would be that the breakfast is NOT free; it costs $10 per person, which seems pretty steepOverall, I would 100% recommend staying at this hotel!

Tiffany Stoiber

Stayed here for early morning/late night airport flights The shuttle was nice, but only runs from 4am-10pm, so we couldn’t use it on the way back Also, the website/app lists free parking but it is NOT free long term parking

We paid like $7/night Still cheaper than the airport lots, but an unwelcome surprise That needs to be communicated better by HiltonOtherwise, the rooms are very nice We did have an issue where our second night we walked into the room and it absolutely smelled like cigarettes (Like it had been attempted to be cleaned, but the smell from someone smoking or a very heavy smoker staying in the room still lingered) But we went to the front desk, and they helped us switch rooms, so we were fine Great bathrooms, lots of space in the rooms themselves, and a comfy bed We’d stay here again

Cindy Johnson

I found this facility to be very clean and quiet I think it is fairly new which may account for the exceptional cleanliness I did not get to use the pool or work out facility but they are a great add to the experience

There is a restaurant onsite as wellI would highly recommend staying there

Ed Austin (ShadowWolf180)

When visiting the area near Worlds of Fun, there are several hotel/motel options in the immediate vicinity; namely due West of the amusement park across Interstate 435 on Randolph Road/Corrington Avenue Going back some 15 years ago, many of those options weren’t bad at all, with one or two higher-priced optionsFast forward to 2022, and some of the motels are turning into places were the homeless or less fortunate live all the time

So finding a decent stay in that area is actually quite challengingFortunately, this hotel is still holding true to being a quality place to stay, and at a reasonable price The Staff are friendly, and the hotel is clean The rooms are what you expect with the normal amenities (TV with cable, coffee pot, etc) Access is through main doors to help with security This is a plus given the locationThe only thing to be concerned about (and honestly this is not the fault of Super 8) is the deterioration of the surrounding area Again, other motels very close by are not the basic bargain motels of yesteryear, instead hosting recent crimes as stand offs, assaults, and theftsMy wife and I were hosting our oldest son, his wife, and our grand daughter for a weekend We live close by, so we wanted them to be close by as well Given our local knowledge we had to do our homework and go through the reviews of all the hotels there and found this to be the best We weren’t disappointed, and neither was our son and his familyIf you are planning a visit to say Worlds of Fun and want to stay very close to the Park, this is really your one good option without paying absurdly high prices or settling for a 15+ minute commute from the Park to your hotel

Philip Dodd

The lady at the front desk was awesome, she gets 5 stars! the only reason I gave 3 stars is the jacuzzi had 15 spots were the coating was chipped off and the shower had 1 spot that was chipped off Since the jacuzzi is made of fiber glass underneath the coating, we didn’t get a chance to use it, I didn’t want to risk getting literally getting covered in fiber glass Other then that the room was really nice, and for the price it couldn’t have been better

I’ve paid more for a room without a Jacuzzi that wasn’t as nice as this one, and couldn’t hear other people in there room untill they open there door So the sound deadening was remarkable I’d stay there again if they fix the jacuzzi

Brandi Moss

This place was horrible First off you must have a credit card and an id that matches So you can’t use your husbands credit card with out him

Secondly our bed was broke and my son cut his hand on it when the bed slipped off and he fell The rooms were musty and moldy smelling The door frames were all bent like someone had tried to pry the doors open The lock on the inside was broke The gentleman that checked us in was hateful The only positive thing was the beds were comfy, but super small they are only a full size bed

I missed my flight and was extremely aggravated so I hopped on the shuttle and came here The front staff was extremely nice, the women was training a new employee at the front desk and check in was smooth! She was able to give me a slightly discounted rate and I am only staying until early in the morning She reminded me to book a spot on their free shuttle in the morning and asked if I needed a wake-up call since it’s super early

The bed is extremely EXTREMELY comfortable and I have a 12 level spinal fusion, so I’m picky The kitchenette is very nice and clean The bathroom is huge! Shower is HUGE! Thanks TownePlace for making my really bad day end on a good note!

Adra Maxwell

Liked the room, hated that interstate traffic woke me up ALL night 😑 The kitchen was lacking actual dish liquid Its hard to get some things clean in the dishwasher if they’ve stuck onto the pan

So a few of our dishes were dirty But other than that, the room was clean & comfy The beds are more soft than firm, at least in #301 The breakfast was oatmeal & spinach quiche No fruit, no meat, no waffles, etc This is the worst breakfast selection I’ve had in a very long time Most other hotels (I’m in different hotels about 4 days out of the week) have much better options The quiche is superb though, I will say that I could have been greedy and ate 3 more Lol But all in all the hotel was nice, just needed a few small improvements

Jason Soto

Stayed for a month Fourth floor is the best bet Far enough away from the noise downstairs

Room service was meh One of my coworkers found a small roach on the third floor I guess it is expected when there are kitchens in the rooms One morning, I grabbed my iPad from the bed, flipped the cover open and a millipede flew out of it I’m thinking pest control may be in order The breakfast sucked Seriously But the bed was comfortable and the TV was alright Kitchen had a good setup and facilitated my cooking No restaurant/bar There’s one down the street at the Four Seasons hotel Not bad for an extended stay hotel overall Great folks too

Brian Cultivating Minds

I was going to give 3 stars but there is a young man named Will at the front desk that made me give the full 5 Will was better at guest relations than the 500 dollar a night hotel we stayed at The bad: stayed in deluxe cabin the toilet would hardly take the water down and neither would the shower

Short staffed like everybody Bring towels bed sheets rags (for when the toilet malfunctions) The good: pretty clean pool and cabins and facilities Nice newer playgrounds Relaxed rules Golf cart rentals Fishing was great at there lake across the street Animal friendly

Zachary Stone

Beautiful area for sure We utilized the RV spot It was spacious and well kept

The gentleman that escorted us to our site was awesome He was able to answer all our questions Ever time he drove by he waved and made sure we were doing okay We had a deluxe spot right next to an upper trail It was a beautiful very easy walk The fire flys at night were fun to watch The place quiets down at night I slept really good Check this place out It is a great place to get away

Not a bad place overall, but you can’t expect a lot fr a 2 star hotel Service was pretty good, but housekeeping could be improved in my opinion Breakfast was pretty standard, unfortunately the pancake machine was out of order while we were there

Biggest complaint is the need for your key card to be in the slot outside the bathroom to make the light and outlets work They’re trying to be “green” which I appreciate, but really is more of a hassle for guests

Kimberly Arreola

Upon arriving to our room, the first thing we noticed was that our bed was not made We then checked the sheets, which were stained Management was helpful and switched our rooms right away

Our second room had stains everywhere, including the sheets, headboard, and the comforter Once again, management was helpful and sent a complaint to housekeeping The housekeeping manager brought us new sheets, but not a comforter We asked for a new comforter and we never received one We slept without a blanket We also saw four different pests, which we took care of ourselves On the positive side, the breakfast was very good, management was helpful, and the location of the hotel is convenient

Angie Partin

The staff who checked us in was amazing and very helpfulBreakfast was great!Beds were comfortable and the room was cleanVery reasonable prices for Spring break weekend

I would definitely stay here again

Kate

We had a lovely stay here for two nights Our room was large and well appointed, and the bathroom was big and all marble, with a no- fog mirror The hotel was beautiful, very clean, tastefully done

The online check-in was quick and easy, same for checkout There was music in the bar, which was lovely, and the bartender, Robert, was delightful We really loved having a balcony and a nice view of country Club plaza, and we were close to everything The beds were really comfortable, with one firmer pillow and one that was soft and comfy The restaurant was great, and our breakfast was really nice All the hotel employees went out of their way to do whatever they could for usWe did have an issue with the A/C, since I’m always cold and we could not get it warm enough, so we just turned it off The only thing I could suggest is a towel rack in the bathroom by the vanity, that would make things easier, but overall everything was amazing We’re planning on returning, and possibly staying at the concierge level next time Beautiful hotel!

First stay here Hotel is beautiful and spotless Staff are personable and professional

Although requests weren’t spot on the first time, either wrong room or forgot something, every measure was taken to ensure requests were fulfilled Wait and cleaning staff were especially top notch with care attention you’d expect in a five star resort Salad at American Slang restaurant was perfect Rooms were above average, with robe and slippers Management seems somewhat new in the profession but adapting Overall a great great experience

LaRhonda Boone

My husband and I had an impromptu date night The room and staff were amazing I highly recommend the concierge package so you can have access to the VIP lounge

Don elevated our experience to make it an unforgettable night There were several people waiting to check in and Jacob, who was walking out the door for the night, stepped in and helped everyone get checked in quickly We cannot wait to stay again

Definitely recommend this place for a relaxing getaway The only downside to our stay was the loud guests, which the hotel can’t control We had the theme suite and it was lovely

We did have to ask for more shampoo, as there was only enough for one person But they kindly gave me more! The room was very nicely decorated and the view was very nice Breakfast was really good, better than most hotels This was my second stay and I would definitely go back 😊

D. Anthony Coleman

So, it’s a hotel You want clean room, safe property, some conveniences like a microwave and mini-fridge, snacks, a bar, ample parking, you get those things What makes this place great is the people

Everyone I had to interact with was wonderful and always gave me the feeling that I was important and that what I had to say, they wanted to hear It was really nice From check, to the night shift worker giving me directions, to the guy at the bar and even the person who was taking care of my room, everyone was great This is a good place to stay by yourself, with a group or with your family I highly recommend and I will definitely make this my hotel of choice for all of my visits

Briana Schmidt

Great location, clean hotel, super friendly staff, amazing room (get the king with the whirlpool tub — worth it), AND, our favorite was that they have “adult swim” from 10-11pm There was a large group of teens at the hotel during our stay and, as kids do, they were all over the pool having a good time Adult swim hour gave us the time to just … chill, as adults like to do, without the craziness of kids being kids

If you need somewhere to stay in or around Kansas City, definitely pick this one It’s just far enough away from the big city to stay safe and quiet but also close enough to enjoy what the city and surrounding areas have to offerWill definitely book here next time I’m in the area 10/10

I stayed at this hotel for work purposes This is the cleanest hotel we have stayed at ever The staff is super friendly and Jeff the GM was welcoming from hello throughout the stay to check out

We never felt as though it was an inconvenience to answer questions or ask for anything We encountered an employee in the elevator at one point and it was late, this employee was super friendly He engaged in conversation and greeted us The rooms were far past my expectations Very clean and homey feeling There was enough supplies in the room to last the stay The view was amazing The hot breakfast was set up very nice Very clean and organized Lots of choices And price well below what I had expected We paid $102 We will be returning to this hotel in the future for anniversaries, vacation and just to get away Very classy

My cousin and I are traveling cross country and Cindy was very helpful in arranging a shuttle to pick us up from the airport when I called When we arrived she was also personable and attentive towards the fact that my cousin has a service dog, and was able to get us the accessible room on the first floor We also thought the breakfast was the best of the other residence inns we have been to 🙂 thank you for a great overnight stay!

The Vilma Pier to be extremely clean When I went to take my shower the next morning oh, there was here all in the shower No one had used the shower in my party before I did the next morning

Now I’m wondering just how clean the rest of the room was because they couldn’t even bother to wash out the bathtub in the shower They was here all along the walls and in the tub

Pool was an excellent temperature, even being an indoor and outdoor pool The hot tub was very relaxing even though it took us a minute to find the button for the jets The outside bit of the pool at night was magical, very peaceful

The rooms had very comfortable beds and a smart bathroom design The breakfast was delicious and there were so many options The breakfast included oatmeal that was made in a big pot instead of offering small packets of instant oatmeal which I enjoyed dry much Normally at hotels the biscuits for the biscuits and gravy are dry, but these biscuits were very moist and not dry and crumbly at all! The staff were very friendly and kind The location was so perfect, I thought there might be an issue sleeping because it said it was next to an airport but there were absolutely no problems with noise I would gladly stay again!!!

Quite, understated utilitarian elegance, cleanliness experienced not many other places, friendliness that is not a facade The material structure of my room ( masonry walls not stud and sheet rock, dampened noise from the airport) with poured concrete floors gave reassurances to a restful night’s sleep The decor in a spartan understated elegance gives way to a comfortable stay

I have experienced both the poor lodgings and being the poor quest and giving this establishment a poor rating would fall back on meThe amenities provided along with the meal are to be appreciated My compliments to both the local management but also corporate for insight and perseverance
