We loved our stay here! It was right on the beach (the highlight of hotel), convenient to local stores, restaurants, and bars (all within walking distance), and the staff was very friendly and super attentive- anything you want was a easy text message away! If I had to give any recommendations for an improvement would be better ventilation in the rooms The rooms are really small (which is standard for a boutique hotel) but because of that the room felt moist and stuffy at times (especially if the air conditioning wasn’t on) My other recommendation would be a separate sitting area outside for hotel guest! The restaurant inside the hotel has seating for restaurant patrons only, but as a guest it would have been nice just to sit out on that balcony area and enjoy the nice weather

Yusimy Reyes (Yusi)

Hotel personal very nice Front desk personnel very friendly and helpful However, rooms are not as cleaned as expected

Rooms need a little maintenance to make them look as they are promoted within their website Sink was loose; from the wall Toilet seat was not the size the toilet bowl required (oversized) Bed sheets were not changed during my 5 day stay It would have been nice to have had at least every other day; room service; done to the room and clean towels placed Otherwise, my rating would have been 5 stars

Luis Mercado

This is my 3rd time at The Tryst I love the location Super clean, with a beautiful ocean view

I understand and respect that with hotel lodging you pay for what you get However, for $170/night, this place does not give you hardly anything! No washcloths, no bars of soap or shampoo, no early check-in, no breakfast, no fresh coffee or water, no courtesies like plastic utensils for guests, no security (no one sits at the front desk until you call), no deadbolts on the room doors, poor cleaning service (there were still dirty towels in our room), no cups or glasses in the room, no plastic liner for the ice bucket (which was still wet from the last guest), no coffee maker in the room (but for some reason coffee mugs), unprepared rooms (everything in our room was unplugged- including the AC and fridge meaning it took forever to get things cool), and unreliable hot water If there’s one perk to the place it’s just that it’s a nice building with a neat layout

Much to be desired still if you’re going to charge as much as a Marriott

Anabel Hernandez-Mejia

Read the paper given at check-in Room will be warm and AC may take a bit to cool the room downSoap is in refillable dispensers

I appreciated the water pressure and cold water (Sheraton shower was only warm, never cool/cold water & decent pressure)It is a basic amenities and straight forward typeof place Found the doors a bit unexpected, but there are cameras and code needed if arriving after hoursWill need to uber for any attractions

dorie bas

Does what it says on the tin Good value basic hotel Tad outdated but rooms were clean and comfortable

Downside is there is a motorway behind the hotel so it can be noisy but as mentioned above does what it says on the tin Some restaurants and cafes and supermarket nearby Will need a car or Uber to old city but not far Or an hour walk Staff were friendly and helpful

I’ve been to San Juan more than a dozen times and this was possibly the best hotel stays yet Definitely above average in terms of hotel condition (well maintained) and the staff genuinely seemed interested in providing good service From the valets to front desk, to bar staff, and housekeeping, everyone was great

Heard similar comments from others there for work Its well located, within short walking distance of a super market and several restaurants It is where I plan to stay going forward

Anthony Orpen

Don’t forget to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking a stay They compare hundreds of hotel sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is one of the best in this area

I have been coming here for a very long time If you decide to stay here you definitely won’t be disappointedAmazing! Truly one of the best stays near Old San Juan And the restaurant was also amazing I highly recommend this spot, thanks to the front desk and waiters for their great service

Jasper Buchert

Valet parking is $20 & is the only option if you have a car We were leaving for the airport the next morning & I asked about an airport shuttle at the valet They said yes, I asked several questions about how often it comes, he pulled out a clipboard & didn’t seem confused at all about what I was asking

I told him we were going to return our rental car & take the shuttle the next morning All seemed fine We return our rental car, & when we get back the front desk informed us there is no airport shuttle So after we returned our rental car, we must Uber to the airport No apology givenThere is a daily resort fee for reasons unclear The beach is a hike & there are no perks to the hotel (no shuttles, breakfast not included, fees for everything, etc)All of the shaded tables around the pool are reserved for restaurant customers & the lounge chairs in the full sun are uncomfortable & so hardBed was comfortable, shower was hot, room was tiny with nowhere to put your suitcase Just enough room between the end of the bed & the furniture to be able to walk The fire alarm was taken apart (is that even legal?) & housekeeping started knocking on doors at 10am, checkout is noon

First: I would stay again Now for the small negatives The front receptionists could be a little more welcoming, brown bag breakfast is a little disappointing, you can very clearly hear people talk outside of your room door and I feel the amenities close to early

Now for the pros The maid staff was great, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the location is very convenient for the beach, food, and essentials shopping

Melanie Leslie

This was our first time staying here and I must say it was great!! If your looking for convenience, we’ll here’s your place Close to the beach, and a variety of restaurants! 10mins from the airport!!!Once we arrived, we came earlier than check-in so the front desk lady was kind enough to hold our bags while we walk around for a few! The lock on the door was a bit annoying so we had a key instead The room was really small

I kinda reminded me of having a bedroom just with the bathroom attached The room was very clean! Prices for beverages were $1 which you can’t beat that anywhere I would definitely book here again to stay!! But I’d definitely see what other room options they have available!!! The hospitality was beyond great

Samantha Sheen

The hotel itself was great It was clean and the staff were very helpful and welcoming! The rooms were a decent size for 2 people Very small negatives like there not being a mirror other than in the bathroom made it difficult for 2 people to get ready at the same time, and the doors are very thin so you can hear everything outside your door (which wasn’t a big deal because no one was really loud), and although its a cheaper hotel in the area i think it was about $20-$30 more expensive than it should of been for the amenities we recieved but we would stay again despite these things!

My husband and I stayed at Casablanca hotel June 16-19, and I wanted to post a review because there were a couple of negative reviews that made me question our choice before our trip Let me say that this hotel is gorgeous, comfy, and in a great location and those reviews do not do the hotel justice It is what it is, a boutique hotel in a historical building, but it is so full of charm, and the owners have done an amazing job of using the available space

We stayed in a king bed room on the second floor, and it was very roomy, much bigger than a normal hotel room, with a sitting area Our “windows” faced the interior (enclosed) courtyard, but let in plenty of natural light, and the shutters could make the room as dark as night, which made for great sleeping-in time The bedding was soft and thick, and the air conditioner in the room let us keep it nice and chilly There was not a closet, but there was an area to hang our clothes The bathroom itself was small, but the shower was hugeThere is a Cafe and bar in the hotel, and you are steps away from dozens of shops and restaurants There are TWO rooftops- one with soaker tubs and the other with three partitioned Jacuzzis, and plenty of lounge seating on both, with gorgeous views of the cityParking is two small blocks away, and you get a discount from the hotel, it is only $14 a night When we take our next trip to Puerto Rico, we will definitely stay here again!

Lauren Vaughan

I can not wait to return (I am very lucky to live in Puerto Rico) The service was amazing (front desk), the room was extremely clean (very comfortable bed), and the 3 hot tubs on the roof made it the perfect Valentine’s Day/Night stay cation The room was worth the price (around $130)

I did not get the chance to try the restaurant, but the food looked good The location is also perfect and the parking garages (public) are the next street over

Michael Henne

This location is fantastic The hotel has hot tubs and deep bath tubs up on the roof that were great late at night They also have an arrangement with the nearby parking garage that’s only $13/day

Breakfast was charged separately, but very good They have a small bar that opens at 6:00 pm But what makes this a 5 star is it’s location

The location is absolutely perfect! Short walk to the lagoon for paddle boarding and to multiple beaches! The price was unbeatable and the staff was friendly and helpful Being able to use the pool next door was a huge bonus and we even had a little balcony on our room which I didn’t expect The view from the rooftop was also gorgeous

It’s definitely a slightly older building but as long as you go in understanding it’s a budget hotel with a great location, you’ll have a great stay

Balthanon Ysen

Overall, I was fairly pleased with my stay at the El Canario On its own, it is lacking a number of amenities and its rooms are definitely dated However, the arrangement they have with the Comfort Inn next door remedies most of the elements that are potentially gaps with breakfast, a nice little pool (shaded in the evening for sunburn free swimming, in the sun in the morning for those who prefer that), an exercise room, and a slightly nicer area to sit and relax

I was surprised at how tasty the breakfast was most mornings– it’s fairly simple fare, but it’s cooked and seasoned well and they give you a good variety to make up for it not being the standard all you can eat you typically receive It also changes each morning, so you’re not just eating the same thing constantlyThe rooms are the biggest gap, but while old (not even having electronic locks) they were clean and the bed and pillows weren’t terrible The biggest issue for me was really the AC, which was the old style in room variety and thus noisy, constantly running and cycling between very cold air and room temperature For the price compared to nearby hotels it was more or less what I expected I stayed at the very beginning of spring break so I did experience the fact that the noise in corridors is clear in the rooms tooOverall though a decent stay

Yesenia Martinez

Love this place Breakfast next door, The elevator is kind of scary If you go you’ll understand what I’m talking about

Unfortunately this hotel does not have parking and there’s barely any street parking but there is a garage down the street that you can park the car and they charge about $20 fee overnight parking But its nice , peaceful place to stay

I would not recommend staying here There were various problems throughout my week long stay The biggest gripe I have for sure is that my bag of souvenirs was missing

I reported it and never heard back, when I followed up I was told that it was never reported but it was most likely accidentally thrown out by housekeeping and in the dumpster The next day I followed up again I was told there was never a report despite the person I spoke to standing right there! The person at the desk went to talk to somebody and came back and said after an investigation it was determined there was never a black bag in my room so I cannot be reimbursed 1)The bag was white 2) How did they do an investigation if they just said it was never reported? 3) How could an alleged investigation determine it was never there when the one item I took out of it was still there? On top of that, there were other problems Our rooms were not ready at 4 PM like we were originally told check-in time was The 7th floor smelled like what I can only describe as wet clothes and stunk up the hallway and bedroom None of the computers worked in the business center either The washers and dryers were also bad the clothes did not dry at all and had to be hung out The hotel is nice aesthetically but that is about it I feel bad writing this review but I felt that I had to say something

Guillermo Loubriel

We liked this Hyatt Why 4 stars? When we checked in we had to wait past 3 pm for our room (503, a handicap room) even though they were not full Also, the room seems to have a problem with the AC- it always felt humid and the sofa felt wet

We remarked this and they changed the filter but that didn’t help But, kudos to their maintenance guy who was friendly and professional NOTETO THE MANAGER: the breakfast staff take out a large amount of food just prior to closing, is it because they are allowed to take it home if uneaten?

Robert Harris

The hotel was not forth coming on all the fees They nickle and dime you And don’t like being transparent

I asked what the fees were to park, when setting up I couldn’t get a clear answer Then i was told $1100 a day They charge a daily incidental fee And it broken down with surcharges Its not like a $15000 a then fees They’re also taking that fee with a municipal fee, and surcharge fee Question ask them?

We are from Pennsylvania and our family had a destination wedding in San Juan We stayed at the Casa Castellana B&B This was our first time to San Juan, and we had many concerns

Will there be language barriers, will the accommodations be comparable to those in the states, how would we get around, will we feel safe, what will the food be like? We stayed for a week and can honestly say that none of our concerns materialized The owners are originally from Florida, so that immediately took care of a lot of the concerns They were also extremely helpful when it came to transportation and suggesting good restaurants The taxis don’t have meters, so it is easy to be taken advantage of, but the owners hooked us up with trusted cabbies which worked out great They also suggested things to do and how to get there The location is great An easy walk to the beach and the beach shops and casino in the Marriott, an easy bus ride into Old San Juan, and ten minutes from the airport We walked around during the day and evening and always felt safe If we returned to San Juan we would definitely go back to Casa Castellana

John Vazquez

One of the best experiences at a Bed and Breakfast we’ve ever had! Natalia was a great host and offered everything we needed for our stay She was extremely helpful with suggestions on things to do and provided us with all tours and excursions of our interest during our time in PR Highly recommend for however long your stay is! Thanks!

john Kirulis

We arrived very early in the morning (4:30 am) on the day we were to check in Casa Castellano set up a taxi to meet us at the airport and welcomed us at slightly after 5 am Official checkin time was not until the afternoon, but they let us have our room at no extra charge, as no one had used it the night before

In all ways they went above and beyond the call of duty The house was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and centrally located They gave us so many insider tips on what to do that we felt more a part of a larger community than just a tourist Such a memorable time

If you stay, you MUST go to Cafeteria Mallorca for breakfast Incredible 🤤❤️

Will never, ever, bring my family to this place again No furniture at the room we had, just two bunk beds, the window was locked, the door got stucked all the time, all is old, all si falling apart, the place is super noisy, cheap and even feels expensive for what you get, they can do way betterI really don’t get it why this place has so good ratings, I’m very disappointed on Google reviews, seems to me that many are faked

shelly Peabody

The location couldn’t have been better The price was perfect This was the first time staying in a hostel, it was much more than I was expecting

The bed was comfortable, though I suggest bringing your own pillow and blanket They provide pillows, I like thicker pillows and they provide sheets and towels, the ac gets the room cold (We brought pillows and light blanket) friendly staff, it was clean Good kitchen though we didn’t use it 2 thumbs up, highly recommend

The Wave Hotel has a lot of potential We enjoyed our stay The rooms were clean and comfy

The staff is very accommodating and friendly The jacuzzi was quite soiled and we didn’t want to go back in it Maybe we’ll try it again before we leave The continental breakfast offered is sufficient and varied The rooftop ambiance is very cozy and has amazing views

Rusul Ka

I booked with the ivy hotel originally then when I arrived they told me they don’t have a room for me and that I can go to the wave hotel and they will have one for sure I did that and I stayed at the wave hotel for 4 nights the room I originally booked with the ivy hotel was for 2 queen beds, and the one they gave me at the wave hotel was 2 single! Yes single beds I didn’t want to make a big deal about it and I took it anyways my mother and sister had to book another room because we wouldn’t all fit in one room So everything was fine we settled in and it was nice while we were there

They took a $100 deposit and said it will be back in my bank account the day I check out and I was fine with that I checked out and I haven’t received my deposit until this day now this been 23 days ever since I checked out I had called them almost everyday nobody ever answers, I emailed them too again no answer, and I don’t know what to do at this point I’m very upset never going there again!

Tianna Homer

The only good thing about this hotel is its location – it’s close to the Condado beach, restaurants, shopping etc I was definitely catfished by the photos I saw online The rooms were not clean, floors were sticky, the toilet and shower were barely functional, the water was out for like two days, and the air vent was super dusty

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days, and there was no house-keeping Considering the price I paid for a 3-night stay, it was not worth it at all
