A Holiday Inn Express that meant my expectations for a clean comfortable place to stay without a whole lot of frills There is a small indoor pool, no real outside lounge area aside from a very small concrete patio outside one door of the pool The staff was friendly

Complimentary breakfast was typical of what you can expect at a Holiday Inn express Nothing to write home about but plenty of small snacks and things to grab to satisfy you at the beginning of the day Coffee was fresh and hotThere is good access off of both US 2 and Interstate 80 My only negative is that there is nothing immediately around this particular location in terms of gas, conveniences, or food There is nothing within walking except for a dental office and a very large Chevy dealer Supplies are not too far away, but it is a short car ride into Vermilion or back to the Interstate if you want anythingOne of the reasons we chose this location was good highway access and it’s reasonably close to Cedar Point Amusement Park, but it is far enough away from the park that the room rates are much lower than comparable hotels within 5 miles to 10 miles of the park itselfI would certainly consider staying here again

Well this will be lengthy……SorryChecked in with a third party reservation We paid with my wife’s MC

The CS rep when checking into the hotel asked for a card for incidentals which is typical So I used my VISA for the auth of 15000 While addressing this the next AM with Donna stated that there should only have been a 10% auth not a 15000 I said there was an auth of 39848 She didn’t believe me & stated they will have the GM look at it By the way never did Donna said check with the 3rd party It’s their problem not ours Went about our stay not very happily but I figured it’s just an auth & it should fall off in less than a week……I was shocked that a Holiday Inn Express was like this All the ones that I have stayed at address the situation or got me answers the next AM Here’s my list of disappointments………1……Room key the whole stay deactivated even though we left it in our cup holder of our car We know enough not to keep it close to any cell phone or other cc’s2…The pool area door was unlocked & anyone could have walked in so the security after hours was terrible Donna also didn’t believe me & stated she will have maintenance look at it3…The hall leading in from the side entrance smelled like pet urine All the hotels I have stayed with have smelled incredibly clean orrrr a nice fragrance4… Had continental breakfast available from 630-930 the next AM We showed up at 830 &&&&& the only trash area had 5 pizza boxes from the night before still stacked up while trash was overflowing Also had no food other than oatmeal, cereal, muffin Noooo hot food left &&& was not going to make any either5…Finally addressed situation with the charges because now it went from auth to current charges a week later Called the hotel & once again it’s Donna &&& she couldn’t help me so she once again said that she will have the GM call me tomorrow Also SW 3rd party &&& yes I was charged by them on my wife’s card & confirmed with my bank I was charged by Holiday Inn Express on my cc that was supposed to be for just an auth for incidentals Soooo double charged for my stay to once again wait without any helpLessons learned……NEVER EVER STAY AT A PRIVATELY OWNED HOTEL MAKE SURE ITS A CORPORATE OWNED LOCATIONSECONDLY……NEVER EVER STAY AT THIS LOCATION AGAIN!!!

Great staff here Very clean Excellent rooms

Right Location for Ohio Turnpike Easy off Easy on Look forward to returning againUpdate: we are from Michigan I grew up here and the Midway Mall mentioned in several reviews used to be the big hang out as a kid Few malls are surviving This location would be ideal 30 years ago But it is still ideal for Turnpike travel which was our need today Great hotel

From Weird to Great Experience!Just passing through and needed a hotel for the night and we got lucky at this hotel The front desk lady was very accommodating made sure to try every discount I’m qualified for and found one Got us checked-on in no time

Hotel is clean overall and room was fantastic The room smell and looks clean and the bathroom was very clean as wellBut while going into our room we met a weird next door neighbor who insists in knowing my name and shaking my hand Not to offend him I complied and washed my hands right away Wife and I were weirded out a bit but we we’re tired so we took a nap I got out of the room to check on my car and this dude was behind me insisting on small talk about his wife cheating on him but I minimize my conversation and leftI reported it to the front desk and Marquis the new on duty from desk took it seriously and noted who the weird person was Then offered me room upgrade for my inconvenience and moved us in a different floor I was very impressed on this action by the hotel staff Wife and I had a great sleep and well rested for the rest of our trip the following day After a good free breakfast of courseI highly recommend this hotel to any travelers passing this area

Livin’ Life

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel The room was clean, the breakfast was very enjoyable but most of all the service was exceptional! I wish I had gotten the name of the front desk employee that checked us in but in all of my travels she was the most accomodating, warm, and friendly hotel employee I have ever encountered We checked in on Wednesday, July 20 in the early afternoon if that helps to find out who this amazing employee is to commend her for an awesome job

We’ll be back again on our next trip to Ohio

Quite possibly the loveliest and most enjoyable stay we’ve ever had on the road The house is historic and its story as a stop on the Underground Railroad is brought to life through great visual and actual storytelling that is compelling to say the least Joe and Susan are gracious, kind, fun and funny

The heart they have for the incredible Americans who found their way to freedom with the help of the good people of Oberlin all those years ago is the stuff of legend You’ll laugh a lot; feel completely at home and come away changed somehow by what you’ve experienced in this unique and remarkable B&B

Ezra Disbennett

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hallauer House over the Valentine’s Day weekend and had a fantastic time The house as a whole was beautiful as well as had many accommodations to make our stay even more enjoyable We spent a couple hours in the game/activity room and purchased the Spa package that we enjoyed every moment of

Our room was clean and very welcoming for our weekend stay The house had many historic artifacts as well as Mr Woodward sharing many stories and information during our delicious breakfast made by Mrs Woodward The location of the house is just minutes away from the town of Oberlin which is great for a casual walk round town and visiting local shops Our stay was everything we could have asked for, and we will be recommending friends and family for future vacations!

This is a wonderful place! Comfortable, well-appointed rooms in a home on a lovely property The hosts have thought of everything when providing room amenities, down to a spare toothbrush and feminine supplies How cool is that? The grounds are charming and well-maintained, including a gazebo with comfortable chairs and a small stream and fountain

I’d have spend more time out there had the weather cooperatedBreakfasts are excellent! The hosts were able to accommodate my partner’s dietary limitations (gluten free), too

Greg Eakins

The rooms here are super nice I especially liked the well designed shower with the high-flow showerhead You could wash a moose in that thing

The mattress was nice and firm, and the pillows weren’t so soft that they envelop your head and heat up your ears Our room was equipped with a fridgeThere’s a small gym with some dumbbells and the typical cardio equipment Not much to offer for serious liftersThe pool seemed to be closed or something while we were there That may have been a pandemic thingBreakfast is scant There was some cereal and yogurt But the coffee was actually excellent It’s a bit of a drive to get breakfast from here

Joshua Bryner

Stayed one night kept telling me I had a credit card on file that wasn’t mine The breakfast bar was horrible not hot breakfast as advertised and people in room next to us were super loud tried calling front desk no answer just ringing Hot tub was broke and there breakfast was better during the pandemic than it is now at least it was hot and fresh then

Now they wanna give you teddy grahams and apple sauce and no flavor cereal Will not be staying again in the future

Joan Peterson

This is supposed to be a higher quality hotel and we paid a premium rate for the room The lobby and seating areas were nice, but our room had a broken door to the bathroom (wouldn’t shut), a broken closet door that made it hard to get in and out of the bed, and a couch that was broken There were other minor issues like frayed towels

Generally, it did not seem well maintained I made a list to turn in at the front desk as we checked out There was no apology for the condition of the room The desk staff just nodded as if she had heard this type of issue before Clearly, this was not a well kept hotel

Guess Who

This is the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in The bathroom floor was sticky, the bath tub was slimey, the shower curtain had stains, and there was mold in the toilet The carpet felt like it had never been cleaned and had many stains

The pillows were flat and one of them didn’t even have a pillowcase I felt more dirty after bathing here than I did before I stepped into that disgusting shower The breakfast is also gross The oatmeal was basically cold soup The waffles were stale and cold Marriott should be embarrassed to put their name on this dump I have literally stayed in much nicer hostels The cleaners should all be fired and the health dept should be called

Mercedes Smith

I should have stayed at the courtyard across the street The staff was friendly but the rooms are run down and nasty I had broken glass, window came completely out, bed smells like grease(cooking oil), and the couches needs to be replaced

They look as though they have been here since the hotel was built I had to switch rooms because the heater stopped working and there wasn’t any hot water The heater eventually started working but I can’t take back the scream shower I had to take in 27 degree weather 😩 I will probably never stay at another town place suites ever again By the way, the staff is great 👍

Stephanie Winkler

Just read all the other reviews Very true I didn’t have a window fall out, but ac has been on 65 and room still above 70

Everything is old and stained The amount of doors you have to walk through to get to the elevator! Beds are hard as a rock Appliances barely work Gym has only two 40 pound dumbbells Treadmill works but very basic and oldOhhh and did I mention the train track right outside my window?

This is probably one of the nicer hotels we’ve stayed at The bed was was really comfortable, and we didn’t hear any hallway or neighboring noise The option of the bar, basketball area, and lounge areas were all nice

Breakfast was great, several options you don’t find at most other hotels (almond milk, turkey sausage) The front desk staff was also friendly Would definitely stay here again!

Rebecca Bowers

Staff was indifferent Never got a friendly smile in 3days from anyone The toilet flange had to be replaced after each flush

Ice maker never worked Towels for the pool are kept at the front desk so you have to drip across the lobby if you are not aware of this The outdoor courtyard is cozy Will not stay here again The rooms were clean enough, but not the best

Nn Kk

The room is spacious but little things like not working bedside lamps, sofa bed full of crumbs and chips and broken sofa mattress, fridge obviously needed some wipe down so is greasy stove top, the pool had dirt on the bottom, jacuzzi barely warm We are members with Marriott but this is the first time we came across this kind of hotel By the way, I did reported it to the front desk and she says she’d refund us, but didn’t follow through

Incredible hotel I have stayed at many IHG properties, and this hotel ranks amongst the best All of the hotel employees were amongst the friendliest and most helpful hotel staff I’ve had the pleasure of working with

The rooms were clean, quiet, and quite comfortable Breakfast was hot and plenty of options, and even the breakfast attendant went out of her way to make sure we had a pleasurable stayOnly negative we had was the room was not equipped with bedding for the sofa bed, or had enough towel Easily alleviated with a visit to the front desk, who was extremely apologeticWould definitely stay here again, and highly recommend

Sarah Herrier

The room was clean and cozy The front desk was very kind The pool was pretty cool with different colored lights and a hot tub that overflowed into the pool

There was also a little kiddo area in the pool with a mushroom or something that would sprinkle water down The pool seemed a bit under chlorinated Overall a very nice stay and was close to Dave and Busters which was the whole reason we stayed at a hotel The breakfast hours were a bit longer which was nice but there were so many people the selection was small We went down at 8:30 I would definitely stay again though

Rosie G

Let me start off by saying our 1st room was not cleaned properly in a few areas so we had to switch rooms within 10 mins of arriving The second room was much better The pool area is amazing

hot tub is big enough for about 8-10 people and you can still 3 ft social distance Regular pool is in an L shape ranging from 3 ft to 45 ft They also have a kiddie pool area with a whirlpool and water sprouts and a slide Therefore the pool area is great for every age Breakfast had a good variety of prepared and grab and go options We would stay again

Our room was clean and comfortable We were greeted warmly and with fresh baked cookies and hot coffee We loved the hot tub – it was perfect! The hotel is starting renovations

I really hope they keep that hot tub and not remove it Breakfast was good too and the cook/server was super friendly Walking distance to several restaurants Gas station at the nearby corner All in all a very nice place to stay

Pamela Miller

We stayed because of a death in the family Everyone was so nice to deal with and extremely friendly The breakfast was delicious and Anna in the dining room was very helpful, such a pleasure to talk to, and a tremendous blessing to us

There’s some renovations being made and we’re excited to see it when finished We will definitely stay here again when back in the area to visit family

Patrick Donnelly

Summary: you’re getting down-market quality at up-market prices You’re better off staying somewhere cheaper This hotel is in very poor condition

The whole front has been torn apart, they claim they are renovating but it looks like a tornado hit the place And while they say they are renovating the front, it’s the rooms that need the renovation My room has a huge melted burn mark on the rug The mattress is old and saggy and you can feel the springs through it The pillows are old and gross and worn out The linens are so-so for a nice hotelI stayed here because of the hot tub/pool, and that area was GROSS I used to clean hot tubs for a living so I know from experience: that hot tub is very rarely cleaned There was a thick layer of sludge around the water line There was dirty underwear and socks strewn about the pool area The whole pool area seemed unkept and grossThis seems like maybe it was a nice hotel when it was new, but now it’s basically a dump that you will pay fancy hotel prices for Like I paid almost 250 bucks for this place – you expect a comfy bed and nice linens and someone to pick up underwear off the floor in the pool!Gross hotel Do not recommend

Curiously quaint place, a bit like going back to 1965 But clean, shower decent, tiny beach nice

And friendly people with a nice dog Flowers very pretty outside of cottages owner wonderfully helpful when I left my favorite hat behind and I had a great swim in Lake Erie with An amazing sunset viewed from their quiet private beach

Terah Coleman

If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay near Lake Erie, this place is great!! The owners treat you like family and acknowledge you by name when they see you The beach is fabulous and private! I had all of my children here and I was able to set them free on the beach without any worries They get up here each morning and clean the grounds, wipe down every flower planter and landscaping

The housekeeping came by first thing and exchanged dirty towels and rags for new ones without a request I would love coming back to this place and recommend them to anyone compared to any of the places we looked at within a mile of here

Kathryn Hamm

My family stayed at Lakeland Lodges for an overnight on an extended road trip The owners were incredibly personable, flexible and welcoming and our small cabin was quaint and rustic, but also clean and complete with all of the basics (including a small coffee maker, mini-fridge, hairdryer, and shampoo) We a great time playing on the private beach and enjoying the community lawn and spent several hours sitting at the tables outside of our small cottage

We also had a fabulous time wandering around Vermilion This is a great stop if you are just passing through or want to stay for a few days with some close friends or family We’ll definitely return the next time we come through town!
