We really had a nice stay The hotel is made up of several historical buildings on both sides of the streets The lobby is nice and the staff were fantastic! Our only issue was with a few things in our room

For $200 a night, we might expect the dust ruffle tear to be repaired, the smoke alarm to be fixed to the ceiling and a sink drain that wasn’t clogged Other than those things, our room was nice The beds were very comfortable and we had a little coffee pot, microwave and fridge which was nice Overall, we enjoyed our stay

Lauren Serb

Wasn’t sure what rating I wanted to give this place The staff was wonderful Truly

So helpful and friendly The location was wonderful In the quarter but just far away enough from bourbon st that it’s nice It’s just a shame the quality/condition of the rooms It’s not that they’re dirty (I think the cleaning staff does the best they can with time and what they have to work with), but the rooms need a deep scrub, some paint and a little TLC In fact, so do the courtyards and pools This hotel has the potential to be a seriously cute boutique-type of place But it’s like the owners don’t really want to put the money back into it or something And it’s a shame cause it could be so much more than what it is now especially with the staff they have working for them now

Andrea Acosta

Location was great as you are in the French Quarter but off of the busy party streets Building was old so condition was a bit rough, but they are 200-300 years old So that is to be expected

Beds were comfortable Our room was upgraded I booked about 10 months before and got a great price through Hotelscom Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful With the exception of one night person Gates were locked at night for safety I would be curious to stay somewhere else in a future trip, but would also stay here again

ARIANNA WAS AWESOME as well as the other front desk attendants to include housekeeping ARIANNA pointed out to us to some great restaurants The only issue I had was the rooms were dated as well as the sofa which needed a little cleaning and our air conditioner was was SOOOO loud that we couldn’t hear our TV

Lady at front Courtney was so nice and inviting She made us so comfortable She let us check in early and gave us a upgrade second night with a balcony

Amanda at the bar made us some killer good long island teas The trolley stops at your front door everything is close walking distance Perfect location and far enough away from bourbon so you get quite sleep We definitely will be back

Betsy MM

A colleague and I were in NOLA for a conference and landed at this hotel due to rates being incredibly reasonable for a five night stay It is centrally located, super walkable to just about anything and we loved that a Starbucks, Cafe Beignet and the Trolley stop were just steps awayThe front desk staff are ALL incredibly friendly and welcoming

Even with navigating a slew of check-in’s they were all very pleasant I have status with Marriott, so I was able to check into my room at 2PM My colleague was not able to check in until roughly 4:30PM so be aware of the 4PM check-in I imagine if they are short staffed, like the rest of the planet, that would account for even the delay in getting in your room by 4I had a King room, that was plenty big, clean and well decorated with everything in working order My sleep quality was amazing, the AC worked great and the beds/pillows were dreamy My colleague did mention that his room was much smaller than mine, but comfortableWe had a drink at the bar one evening that was deliciously made; plenty of signature NOLA cocktails to choose from We were in and out of the hotel over 5 days and never had any negative experience I would absolutely stay at this hotel again!

Brittany Bowers

Great water pressure and temperature in the shower for those late night showers after Bourbon St Pretty good selection in the market shop in the lobby Didn’t try the on site Bistro or Starbucks while visiting (always woke up too late or arrived back in too late lol) Friendly staff

Shout outs to the night shift front lobby receptionists for being available to let me shop for a late night snack Housekeeping was fantastic as well Room was clean for our 4 night stay

Linda Harrington

The listing of “Chartres House” is erroneous and refers to The Quarter House, a holiday apartment rental, at 129 Rue Chartres in the French Quarter See photos and review listed correctly under The Quarter House There is no such establishment as “Chartres House”

Also the map for this non-existent establishment puts it on the wrong side of Rue Chartres and in the 2d block, whereas the actual location ofThe Quarter House is in the 1st block n the left, not the 2d block on the right

Dave Barnett

Excellent space for a more homey stay and easy access to everything in the french quarter The kitchen is great and there’s a lot of storage all around The shower is nice aside from low water pressure – I didn’t mind much but my wife was really annoyed with it

We were able to walk down bourbon and royal streets nearby, and down to Jackson square as well as heading the opposite direction to the WW2 museum If you don’t mind walking, it’s a perfect location to avoid transportation costs

Christin Cormier

Located two blocks from Bourbon street had its pros and cons There were several folks camped outside the door but the restaurants and fun was closeby This is not a family oriented location

The upgrades are nice but any rooms to the front are noisy The older rooms are dated and smell musty So we switched to a newer room The beds in the newer room was very hard and difficult to sleep on and the room was not clean The pros are the customer service was good

My oh my! What a perfect hostel! We originally booked two nights for my partner’s birthday, and loved it so much we stayed a full week! There’s a pool, kitchen, laundry facilities and ample space for people – everything we could possibly need to exist We even made friends with the staff because they are just so amazing! Everyone is an equal here and accepted in all their beautiful forms I’ve never experienced such a crazy, spiritual, incredible place! We had to wait for some packages to arrive which prolonged our stay a little more, but of course India House accommodates all 😉 it was actually sad to say goodbye to continue our trip, so sad that we have to come back on our way home! Thank you for everything 💖

Jeana Schreiber

We arrived at India House hostel on Wednesday and it has been a great experience so farWhen we arrived at 9 PM for check-in we were greeted promptly by Audrey and given taken to our rooms in one of the out houses The hostel’s main building unassumingly seems small from the outside, but has a maze of rooms and buildings in the back that are all interconnected by a pathway

We were staying in a private room with a double bed and twin bed bunk and a private bathroom The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a hostel with clean sheets and pillows The room also had a desk and a small seating area Our room was clean and inviting The only strange thing was that there were some toiletries left over by a previous person in the shower but other than that we really didn’t have any concerns The provided towels were good and we were able to get more if requested which is also really convenientThe hustles amends for the General community there’s a pool (it was a little bit dirty when we were here but we’re gonna chalk it up to people having a good time on their holidays), indoor and outdoor kitchens both with amenities included, a large fridge that is restaurant grade, multiple dining and seating areas including picnic tables outside, and a TV with a bunch of comfy chairs around it in the main areaDon’t forget Taj, the resident cat who reigns supreme in the hostelSome concerns were raised in other reviews about items being stolen from rooms, specifically private rooms We haven’t had any problems with us and the only thing that we’ve even noticed which would suggest that anyone have gone into our room is extra toilet paper

Gabriela Ferreira

I want to start this review saying that I have stayed in hostels in Europe and America This has been by far one of the best experiences I’ve had The hostel is super charming and comfortable

The staff was extremely helpful and nice Shout out to AJ! Every time we went out the managers would ask us where we were going and what we were planning to do and then they would tell us the best way to do what we wanted or go to a different place if that didn’t sound like a good plan to them You could truly feel the community vibes in this hostel The location was great too, not too close to the craziness of the quarter but very close to the street cart We got a private bedroom with a private bathroom The bedroom was simple, but clean, the beds were also very comfortable Our only regret is that we didn’t get to eat the food made at the hostel They serve food every night and the smell was divine!

Overall, this hotel is very nice The people at the front desk are really sweet, the location is probably the best you can get in NOLA (more quiet, but still lots of things to do, is close to universities…etc), and the rooms are pretty nice There is an outdoor area near the pool where you can bring your own food and eat dinner which is really nice and you can only sit there with a room key (so if you’re staying there)

10/10 recommend! Edit: forgot to mention it did smell very strong of marijuana in the hallway I was staying in which was very uncomfortable

K L

Location is nice – hotel itself is average Parking is behind the hotel itself Also important to note that you have to scan your hotel card to get in the parking lot

Not super helpful for me because I checked in on the app but still had to go to the desk to get a parking tag to hang on the rear view mirror Kind of defeats the purpose of checking in on the appSecond thing is hot breakfast was completely empty I went back to my room to let the crowd die down, went back a half hour later and still empty unless someone would just want a bagel and wait in line to make a waffleProbably would stay again if I can for business again but as the rating says – average

Jessica Beck

Clean! The only place I physically saw sanitize wipes available in New Orleans That isn’t the only reason The rooms and everything is clean They have a pool and a sitting area outside

They have helped us tremendously! We had to stay overnight from cruise due to waiting on a rental car They held our luggage while we explored the city today Also a warm breakfast that is delicious Trolly available right outside door that takes you to Bourbon Street $300

This place is awesome First day here and it’s more like visiting with friends than anything else Everyone seems extremely friendly and helps to make the hostel a home

Within 10mins of check-in I believe 4 countries were well represented in the diverse guests we met, and all seem very culturally conscious with a very human service focus HIGHLY Recommended Pictures to come

I booked a private room in mid-June and was not disappointed A beautiful property with lovely spaces indoors and outBit of a hiccough at the front desk

Our stay was okay Our first night checking in was good The gentleman who helped us check in was fast and efficient

However, we felt really rushed getting our stuff out of our vehicle They only have valet parking which is $40 a night and they don’t validate which was a frustrating unexpected expense They take your luggage to your room for you so make sure to bring smaller bills for tipping We left so many things in our vehicle we had to go back down about 4 different times because of feeling rushed The rooms were beautiful but small Beds were comfortable There is no refrigerator in the room which was frustrating Our toilet wasn’t secured to the floor so if you turned while seated it tipped and since it wasn’t secure it leaked water on the floor Overall an okay experience I don’t think we’ll stay here again though

Melissa Knight

The hotel is centrally located It’s a block from Bourbon ST and the green line street car is just a few feet away The hotel service was great

They made it so easy to check our bags and make the most of our time in the city They accommodated late check out too We had a river view and a great view of the city The room is showing some age but super clean The bed was very comfortable

C C

Probably one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on, especially for a hotel! The room was also clean, which we appreciated The hotel staff was also really friendly! The room was a bit dated (peeling, chipping, etc) and like some of the other reviews said, the lobby has a pretty strong funky smell when you first walk into the hotel

However, given the room cleanliness and how comfortable the bed was…absolutely worth it considering the price This hotel ended up being a couple hundred dollars cheaper than anything else I could find for the same dates!Lastly…location It is SO convenient for French Quarter/Bourbon street walking, so that was great, but there are definitely a ton of vagrants around, many of whom were pretty aggressive with asking for money (one even went up to an elderly lady and acted like he was trying to dance on her) right outside of the hotel We watched someone steal a cart full of items from the next door Walgreens The French Quarter/Bourbon Street definitely seems to have this issue widespread, but it felt especially rough on this street I’m glad I was traveling with my boyfriend, as I would’ve never felt comfortable at this hotel aloneOverall, we would consider staying here again!

This is a great little hotel The rooms are attractive and clean, designed to maximize the amount of space The bathroom is beautiful

The outside area, with a small pool and regular-sized hot tub, has everything that an adult might want to have a nice evening after a night on the town There’s a coffee machine, a bottle of bitters, even a half pack of smokes someone left It’s thoughtfully put together, like hanging out at someone’s house I would love to stay here again in the future

This inn is spectacular The pictures and descriptions cannot do proper justice The room and outdoor area was very clean and accommodating

Our Elvis room was perfect The decor, high ceilings, furniture, and large windows were outstanding Very close to more tourist areas, but far enough to escape traffic and noise There is a bus stop one block away, making for easy transportation to and from several places in the city We’re looking forward to staying here again and again! Don’t forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏᴄᴏm when booking a room This website will compare hundreds of hotel sites and typically will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is the best rated in this area

I’ve been coming here for a long time If you stay for a few nights you definitely will love it I’m sure! The hotel service and staff were very accommodating We had a family emergency and the hotel management handled everything and made our stay comfortable and carefree Thank you for the very clean room, hotel hospitality, good restaurant food and great customer service I will definitely visit again!!!

dolly Salcedo (Dollface)

Room was clean did have an issue with the toilet first it was leaking then it wouldn’t flush but both issues were resolved the same day Relatively close to everything, did see a lot of homeless people around the park front of hotel, cable car stop and bus stop next to hotel Overall service was good

The pool was open which was great because I had been informed after I had booked that it was closed Do wish the pool was bigger though, it was more of a watering hole size no deeper than 45 feet So there was a family the size of 9 and another group of 3 people and that pretty much took over the pool leaving no actual room for swimming

Rachel Kahler

Our initial room had a clogged sink The staff were super prompt getting maintenance to the room, and when they were unable to fix the sink, they immediately got us a new room The maintenance guys were super helpful in getting us new keys while we gathered our stuff

The bar is a great feature of the hotel The rooms themselves were pretty basic, which was what we expected They were clean and the bed was comfortable However, the toilet was a bit wobbly, which I suspect is due to replacing an old toilet with a slightly different sized one, and one of the bolt holes on the floor was slightly too big or the bolt was loose Also, the shower curtain rod was curved while the tub wasn’t No big deal, but it meant that the curtain tended to slide open on either end The curtain still kept the water in, but it made me a bit paranoid that I was making the floor wet

I’ve been staying here for a very long time If you decide to stay here you definitely will love it I’m sure! The room I got was really small with one wall of old brick, and at first I had some misgivings, but it grew on me I stayed for two nights and found the room to be cozy From the hotel I was easily able to walk to the aquarium, Jackson Square, and Bourbon Street I will definitely consider it for future stays

Nidhi Kikkeri

Stayed here with family over the weekend Its located in the downtown and within a mile from the Jackson square and the french quarter Hence, these places are walkable from the hotel

Room was clean However, it was smaller than it appears in the pictures One other drawback is the parking It is paid self parking in a parking lot, which is about 03 miles from the hotel Wish the parking lot was closer The AC in the room was too noisy through out the night Breakfast was good and had options Overall, the stay was okay

K Greatting

We were very pleased with this hotel It was very clean, had a nice breakfast and the staff was friendly It was very easy to walk most places we wanted to go and there is a streetcar stop close by for anywhere further than we wanted to walk

The only downfall was that parking was a couple blocks away but we were able to unload and reload our vehicle right in front of the property when we arrived and when we left We would stay here again

Pros: LOCATION–the location is absolutely superb if you want to see the French Quarter The hotel is well-appointed, nice lobby and courtyard with a pool The Bourbon O Bar was fun the one night it was open

Our room was on the opposite side from Bourbon St so it was quiet We did not hear street noise at all Staff was very friendly and professionalCons: Ridiculously understaffed The staff was professional and helpful, but they clearly are overworked For what we paid, it is insane to not provide any housekeeping Couldn’t get extra soap or toilet paper On one day, the lobby was filed with people waiting to check-in, but apparently there were no clean rooms They really need to step up their game–it would be sad to see such a beautiful and historic property go downhill

Surprisingly clean and beautiful hotel right in the middle of the French Quarter Staff was friendly and accommodating There is a bar and restaurant attached and a lovely courtyard pool for cooling off after a hot day walking and touring the French Quarter

Our room had a walk out to the pool and was cool and clean A central location which made it perfect for exploring Upgraded toiletries in the bathroom as well Would definitely stay here again as it was quiet and I did not hear any street noise

Such a beautiful hotel with a interesting history! All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful We had a room that overlooked the courtyard It was very quiet! We never heard any noise from outside

The hotel is in a great location Right off of Bourbon Street, right by Jackson Square and the St Louis Cathedral and everything else was within reasonable walking distance The hotel and courtyard were very clean The room was also clean upon check-in, except for the container of food left in the mini fridge The pool was nice & refreshing, especially after walking around in the NOLA heat and humidity! Overall, we were very happy with our stay & would stay at Bourbon Orleans again, the next time we visit New Orleans!

This is probably the best hostel I have ever stayed in The rooms are very clean I really like that everyone has a private locker which opens with your key card

The locker has a small light and a socket inside, so you can also charge your camera, laptop etc while being out The beds are very comfortable and have a privacy curtain which I really like The shared bathrooms are very clean, bath mats and soap/shampoo are also provided The location of the hostel is perfect, it is in a safe area just in walking distance to the Bourbon Street

A very nice hostel experience:- Location excellent with easy access to the airport and most spots in the city via the bus / tram links after a short walk- Comfortable beds and secure storage- Plenty of bathrooms which are cleaned regularly- A nice social atmosphere with the added bonus of a pool table and various board games

I also liked the nice touches such as the privacy curtain and light in each bunk, provision of laundry facilities and partnerships with Nola Blue Bikes which give a free half hour rideTop notch and recommended

One of the cleanest hostels I have ever stayed in! Located very conveniently to reach from the airport as well as central New Orleans; most of the attractions were only a couple of minutes away! The staff was very friendly and helpful, they do not charge extra for stuff like lockers, earplugs or towels and I was just amazed by how neat and clean the rooms and bathrooms were! It is way cleaner that some hotels I have stayed at For this price definitely a must and I would always stay there again!

SUPER nice staff, specially the valet gentleman (he’s the only reason for the stars)Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep at all With the highway and Canal street on each side and windows that seemed to amplify noise rather than block it, you can hear every jerk with a modified tailpipe (every few minutes down here), every police chase at 3am, every car blasting is radio

Just as I feel asleep around 4am, and again at 4:30am, the microwave started blinking super bright in the dark room saying FOOD out of the blue for no reason waking me up againThe room decor is cold and uninviting with concrete floors They’ve replaced the cozy seating area with a makeshift kitchen strip (though the oven only stays on for second before overheating)Both plugs under the bedside lamps were having well out with live exposed wiresFirst room was hotter than the hallways or outside Even after two engineer visits, it was still 81 degrees in the room while it was 75 outside Front desk was very reluctant to move me until I said I’d be leavingSpeaking of front desk, they also wouldn’t upgrade me (gold elite) when I was first checking in even though it was mid week during a slow seasonMoved to another Marriott the night after and slept like a baby

The hotel itself was very nice I only gave 3 stars because during my stay they experienced an issue with the water Apparently ships docking affected the water pressure, resulting in NO water in my room

We couldn’t shower, toilet couldn’t flush I had to brush my teeth with water from a water bottle and no one really seemed to care They all took an, “oh well it is what it is” attitude I didn’t appreciate it; my group and myself had to leave the room for the day not feeling clean and they didn’t even offer as much as a complimentary bottle of water Smh, I understand that things happen but do better

The room was clean and overlooked Canal St The staff was pleasant The location was perfect for us since we like to get our steps in daily

We walked the entire French Quarter during our stay I am however extremely disappointed with the handling of room availability upon check-in There is a $17 per day self-parking (a block away) or $34 for valet

They saved my vacation! I was 19 trying to find a quiet place to stay during a break from college, the hotel I had previously booked with denied check in (fine print 21) and barely returned my deposit This La Quinta was the only hotel to be kind enough to accept us for the three day trip The rooms were perfect, staff were amazing, and they made our trip possible

I will only stay at this location for all future trips, thank you guys!

So, I get the feeling that the manager Tony is one of those type of people that looks down on his own people who he feels displays “undesirable” behaviors I came from Wyndham, which is where I am a timeshare owner, but my week was up and I needed one additional night, so I booked at LaQuinta I arrived around 1:50 which is about 1 hour before check-in which is around 3pm

The front desk took my id and credit card info and said that my room would be ready shortly and that I could check in early I waited for about 15 minutes and still no room I decided to start eating my food which was crab legs and seafood fried rice while I was sitting down I was eating the food already for 15 minutes when one of the workers went and told the manager that I was eating it and then he walked over and told me I couldn’t eat the seafood inside I told him that it was fine I was almost finished anyway and I could just finish it when I checked in my room Then he says that his hotel had a no seafood policy and that I’m not allowed to eat it in my room or I’ll be charged a fine I asked him why wasn’t this in the agreement that I signed and why wasn’t I told this at the time they took my credit card? He had no answer Basically he was assuring me that I would be charged even if I bought the food to my room and there was no proof that I was eating it He was completely rude and wanted to argue with me back and forth I asked him if I would be charged even if I bought it to my room but didn’t eat it He insinuated that I would eat it so they would charge me anyway and he instructed the front desk clerk to put a note on my account to be sure to charge me He was out of line and rude This is New Orleans where people come here for the seafood and even some hotels serve seafood in their restaurants Telling a guess they can’t eat seafood on their room without being charged a fine was completely unreasonable and unrealistic Furthermore I don’t think Tony the manager, would have said that to any other guest unless they were guest of color People need to realize that you can be prejudiced against your own kind I feel that Mr Toni targeted me because I am a black woman who was wearing an Afro-puff at that time and I was sitting in the hotel lobby cracking open crab legs, and he wanted to make an example out of me
