This place never fails to disappoint Front desk staffing is bizarre and very unprofessional

usually looking at their cellphones If you are expecting housekeeping, again you’ll be disappointed Recently stayed there 6 nights and my room was serviced ONCEand the trash was not emptied I would imagine they spent all of 3 minutes in my room The only good thing about this property is it’s location near the 205 freeway and the Safeway within walking distance

After checking out, there was a charge in my bank account of a couple hundred dollars I called the hotel and asked why I was being charged and they said it was because there was an ironing board, iron, and pillow missing from the room They accused me of stealing the items and had footage of me and my husband checking into the hotel but conveniently “couldn’t find the footage of us checking out”

There’s no way I could fit an ironing board in my over night bag along with an iron and pillow I called the hotel manager and explained the situation and they only agreed to give me $50 back If you don’t want to get accused of stealing, I would find another hotel to stay at

Very kind and friendly owner He keeps the property well-maintained Although the room set up looks dated, the furniture like table and bed frame look relatively new

The bathroom was also kept clean The a/c is cold enough for warm summer days, although a little loud for light sleepers I didn’t mind though It’s a reasonable price for a decent place to stay

Paul Palmer

Incredibly friendly owners, Clean and well appointed rooms with kitchenettes, fast free wifi, all at a great price Can’t say enough nice things about the place I normally prefer hotels to motels but this was a really great experience

They even ran the A/C in my room before i checked in to compensate for the heat wave! So thoughtful!

Jeremy King

Highly recommend! Super comfortable, super clean They had everything we needed Plenty of restaurants nearby (like, within walking), a nice little coffee shack, and a grocery just down the road

The family that owns the hotel were super friendly They told us it has been a family owned business for 44 years! You can tell they care about their business by how well they take care of everything I can’t say enough good things about Capitol Hill!

The only reason I give an extra star is because our room was clean We stayed in room 130 The door next to our room had a sign taped on it ( Do Not Disturb )

All night long we heard this individual cough and it sounded like he was eating cereal for over two hours Like a spoon hitting porcelain Our bed crunched The ladies at the front desk were very nice and accommodating Because we were so tired I slept pretty good Parking is tight this hotel is in a very condensed area right next to Providence park where they have their soccer games Unfortunately, we stayed here during an active game night That eating facilities are 03 to 07 miles away I’m not sure you’re going to find a cheaper hotel that’s close to the amenities here in town That being said I would look for another hotel before staying here again

Radhika Shankar

Parking is horrific! If you get room across the street from main building, no access to regular fridge or microwave In room microwave can only hold 4 water bottles No breakfast just cookies and coffee

Rooms are really small and cramped Floor was not clean Main building has a tiny cute courtyard that you can enjoy if someone doesn’t discover it first 🙂

Julie Corrales

Booked a room with two queens and was excited to stay in the modern, colorful room the website displayed That however, was not got what we got The room was outdated with no microwave, mini fridge, ironing board, extra plastic bags, etc

The room smelled like an entire bottle of bleach was used to clean it The beds were squeaky, uncomfortable, and scratchy At one point we had a small spider crawl out of one of the pillows One highlight was the kind staff that helped us check-in and out Really unfortunate we couldn’t enjoy our stay more

Rooms clean and nice, decent price, professional front desk staff Unfortunately the person handling the breakfast needed help, couldn’t keep up, so we never got eggs Someone asked for salt but it was never brought out even though we could see all the shakers in the back

There were no grab bars in the small room that had the shower and toilet My elderly mother had a hard time

Ryan Gates

So we just checked in with a non refundable booking, I have 2 kiddos that love pools, so we stay where there is pools!… we find a sign saying closed Been closed for a while they said and the reason I’m even typing this is because I haven’t seen it posted anywhere including here So heads up if your looking to swim in the advertised salt water pool, call first!… story is there looking for chemicals for it?

salt water pools have less chemicals and easy maintenance according to google, but doesn’t matter it’s closed! I’ll follow up with the rest of the stay!

iLarold

Breakfast, and indoor pool were the only good things about this stay We showed up an hour after check in started, it took awhile to get checked in they were still cleaning rooms We were given our key after 15 minutes of waiting and was told to wait in the lobby while they double checked to see if the room was ready

When the receptionist returned she asked for the key back and said there was a problem with the room From what I could over hear one of the workers asked to hold the room but it wasn’t communicated, and the room they just gave us a key for was still occupied by someone We were told to go wait longer while they checked in the many waiting guests behind us Waited 20 minutes in the car came back in still no room ready, it wasn’t a good first impression after a very long drive When we finally got another room it was wornout and smelled bad, the beds were hard and didn’t look like queen sized, my feet hung off the end and it wasn’t nearly as wide as our queen size beds at home The first day we told the front desk to skip cleaning our room because we didn’t have a do not disturb sign, they still knocked but no nig deal Then the last day we got a knock on the door while we were getting ready an hour before checkout, and before I could answer it someone ran a key card and started to open our door I said hold on! They rushed off saying sorry as the went down the hall, just not a good stay overall

Booked a 2 bedroom suite for 2 nights Very much enjoyed the rooms and the responsiveness when I called the front desk for bedding The king bed was nice, but definitely not as comfortable as many hotel beds I’ve stayed in (too firm)

Hot tub was great being inside Biggest complaint is lack of Continental breakfast The hotel gave us two $7 coupons for the restaurant breakfast which still ended up being almost $40 for two modest meals Almost everything seemed cooked well but shockingly bland Like zero flavor The french toast was just plain bad Overall, would definitely stay again but I’d avoid the restaurant

Hyperjackaboy 3583

I loved my stay here! The rooms were very clean and comfortable Most rooms have a small balcony that looks right out onto the river There are walking trails next to the river and even a dock to walk on

The staff is amazing The lady that helped me upgraded my room to one with a jet tub for my husband and I The restaurant has very good food When you check in they give you a voucher for 7 dollars towards breakfast Overall it was a great stay and we will be back!

Stacy Caswell

We had such a good time on our first stay, that we decided to book the same tiny Bamboo house, for a second timeSadly, it was in a bit of disrepair- missing light fixture, absent kitchen ware, etc As directed, I had requested sheets for the pull-out couch; no sheets were waiting for us on arrival

Maybe we will try a different house, next time

Bridget Van Well

Almost a week after checkout my boyfriend and I keep saying how much we miss tiny digs! We stayed for a short weekend and had the best time in our tiny home There were some issues with my reservation but Leanne was so helpful in getting everything sorted Just be weary in winter times there is a shortage of hot water and only a space heater

This didn’t affect us much as we still greatly enjoyed our stay Can’t wait to come back during our next time in Portland

Tiff Freccero

My sister and I stopped here for a night on our roadtrip up north, and absolutely loved it! Clean, comfortable and very functional for a small space I loved the bathroom! We chose the tiny home that was dog friendly, and it was a great match A ton of restaurants in walking distance

We loved the german one right around the corner! I would highly recommend a stay here again

The best hostel!!!!! I stayed here for a week (in a private queen room) and couldn’t fault it at all Super modern, clean and awesome The rooftop bar was a huge plus, although not open every night so be aware of that

Great location to get to downtown on the bus or walk to some cool restaurants Staff were lovely Seriously can’t stop thinking about how cool the place was, wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels before and this genuinely was the nicest Don’t miss it!

Samantha Georgi

Great idea, has potential, lacking in executionI stayed in one of the 4 bed female dorms for 2 nights I was very excited about a new hostel in Portland

I’ve stayed in many a European hostel so am familiar with the structure and price bracket The facility is clean and modern and the attached cafe and rooftop bar are nice amenities Unfortunately I was too exhausted the first night to check out the rooftop bar, and on the second night it was mostly blocked off for a private event that appeared to also block the computer room area, which I was planning to use I wish that guests were priority in the use of space, especially considering that the price for 2 nights came to $103 total for a dorm room which is higher than most hostelsThe layout of the shared dorms is great in theory – enter into a common area with a small locker for luggage storage and 2 toilets/2 showers shared by 3 – 4 bed dorm rooms which are accessed through this room I would think the intention behind this is to keep non-sleeping activities out of the quiet spaces for sleeping However, the lockers are too small so luggage ends up in the room anyway The photos on the website failed to show single window dorm rooms, which have a more claustrophobic feel The bunks don’t seem to be bolted to the wall, which allows them to shake a fair bit when getting in or outThe most disappointing part of the layout is that despite what seems like careful planning of intentional quiet spaces, the doors are all THE loudest self closing doors in a space with no sound absorption so you constantly hear the slam of doors at any hour someone comes in or uses the bathroom I understand rugs would be hard to keep clean, but some kind of sound absorption paired with soft-close doors would be a huge upgrade to this spaceOverall, the hostel served it’s purpose of offering a reasonably affordable and clean place to stay in a great location And all the staff I encountered seem great

Peter Custer

Perfect place to launch a college reunion trip Lolo Pass was ideal for our group and we used a ton of the first-class accommodations We enjoyed the rooftop views, the coffee at the cafe and even participated in a local wine tasting event held in the lobby

The staff was friendly and helpful…Steering us to a great meal within close walking distanceRoom was clean and quiet Highly recommend

I’m giving 5 stars because 4 isn’t fair The location is great Yes it’s right off the highway and while in the parking lot traffic is loud—you can barely hear it from the room

The rooms have been renovated While smaller in size they maximize space efficiency and not in a bad way The room felt quite spacious I love using the app to check in—no waiting, texted the desk about a minor repair needed, and checked out without any contact

Theresa L

Stayed for 1 night after landing around midnight Check in was fast and the room was clean They even had a Guest of the Day welcome bag in my room which was thoughtful

Never gotten one before at any of my other Hilton stays lol Breakfast was pretty standard with plenty of options Plus for the crispy bacon and waffle machineThe only 2 things to note were: 1 The bathroom was small so no real counter space 2 There was no real closet to hang clothes Since we were only staying for 1 night, these weren’t deal breakers

Angela Barr

The room we stayed in had incredibly hard beds that gave us terrible back pain We’ve stayed in many, many hotels and expected softer beds for the price Also, we had to pay $50 to let our dog sleep in her own bed on the floor of the room when it is standard most places to charge $20

I could even understand charging a refundable deposit for damage, but an adult dog like ours who doesn’t make messes and came to sleep for 8 hours shouldn’t cost $50 extra On the positive side, it was nice to have warm cookies and water for the kids and the breakfast was decent and had some good options If the beds weren’t so hard I can barely walk today and I didn’t have to pay so much for my dog, I’d probably come back

One of the better Courtyards I’ve stayed at The main lobby was very spacious and had many lounge sofas and the interior was decorated beautifully I was surprised this location didn’t have a pool which I was looking forward to use

The 24hr gym has decent amount of equipments and was well kept I was surprised there was even a bike trail behind the hotel which I made use of The trail cut thru the forest behind the hotel so it was a nice quiet place away from city noise

Wolfgang’s Mom

I am a traveling nurse I started with 4 other nurses I showed up, on a Sunday and was unable to lock in a price for nurses

Was told to speak to the manager J Paul, the next day He offered me $149 a night, or whatever price was on the website, for that day My stay for Sunday was $116, the next next it was $150 Aqua, the check in lady, said it would be lower than $113 for the rest of my stay Another, younger, better looking nurse got a rate of $113, for the same contract, that I am working We are 5 women, that wanted to stay together, but he was not about to help us, as we traveled to his town, to help out his communityThe was no breakfast, for $149, no muffin, no juice My shower didn’t drain My TV turned off, every few hours, to reboot I had a great view, in the back, of the homeless, living in the woods If you want a different view, get a room in the front Stains on the chair and bedspread Housekeeping entered my room, without knockingThey charge high prices, for motel 6 qualityThe other nurse, left the same day as myself We are now at a Hilton property, for much less, with nicer rooms and free breakfastI am letting all my fellow travel nurses know, avoid the Marriott They don’t like nurses

Katie Anderson

The service was kind, the place was clean, and it slept us all My only reason for 3 stars is that I had booked a king with a separate seating area, shown with a door dividing This is perfect for our family

They seemingly just put us in any room, asking if we had a floor preference, and we ended up in a standard king No privacy for the kiddo, and no reduction in charges

rachael raftery

I was between ratings in this stay I have a relative that put us up in this guesthouse that lives in the area HIGHLY recommend the area as all the restaurants and shops are very walkable and such a beautiful area in a lively neighborhood

Contactless check in was a plus, we stayed in the Beverly cleary room which faces the front of the guesthouse keeping in mind spring to fall there is an ac unit in the window so you hear quite a bit (We turned on the fan feature and it drowned everything out) It was a large room with its own bathroom The public guest areas were very nice and always clean with breakfast accommodations and a fridge (Though they only had one tiny drawer for guests) My only reason for not doing 5 stars was because of a staff member who came off very cold and unwelcoming I believe she was actually one of the owners I heard someone in the hall so opened the door and as I stood in the doorway I say hello! And her response was “mask!” (These are required in their public areas at this time) I then say ok… we are staying here almost a week and we were just wondering if we could get more towels? She responds with “they are right next to you, As it states in the welcome letter Mind you this was a very brisk tone like we were being a nuisance Well I read and reread that letter and it says to ask if someone is available … so we were just following direction I have worked in all industries and would not talk a to patron this way Many different ways to have handled this Other than that there was a gentleman that was there on arrival, very nice, as well as the cleaning staff

***This review was written about a stay during COVID***Exceeded our expectations! The website photos did not do the room justice We stayed in the first floor studio and it was a lot larger than expected Bed was very comfortable, shower was very nice

Most important to us (we were traveling with a packed car) there was a parking lot attached to the property, we were able to move things very easily from our car to the roomBreakfast was grab and go, perfect for our situation Would gladly stay again next time we are in the PNW

When we got to our room, there was a strong smell of cleaning chemicals We’re sensitive to stuff like that so asked if they could move us and they found us another room with no hassle, no questions The new room was a little smaller but didn’t face Burnside, so quiet and a nicer view

I felt like they really took care of us and were very gracious about doing so It was refreshing to get such nice service and really made our stay fantastic The staff were all friendly and eager to help Really enjoyed our stay

Kathijune Bruyere

Absolutely fun experience for a creative being like myself! We got the Werewolf room and the quote around the room though dizzying to follow is the greatest thing I have seen The art in the room and halls (and I am sure the other rooms as well) gives me a through the looking glass feel The bed is comfortable and clean and the staff/personell are helpful and friendly

Dave Cramton

This place is all about attitude and convenience Tiny rooms and shared bathrooms aren’t for everyone But the rooms are clean, the bathrooms (single occupancy, not dorm style!) are kept clean as well

Provided robes are comfortable and voluminous Typical of McMenamins, everything is funky and stylish Great place to stay if you’re seeing a show just up the block at the Crystal Ballroom Zeus Cafe in the lobby makes a great brunch

I would go back and visit Portland just to stay at this hotel! The staff here are beyond incredible Upon arrival I had a lot of anxiety as I was a first time solo traveller and everyone there made me feel so safe Everyone there genuinely cares about you and your safety

The hotel offers an escort system if you feel unsafe at a location and you can even text the staff at anytime which was super helpful I stayed at a single room which meant I had to share a bathroom and I had some reservations about it before visiting but it exceeded all my expectations! The room and bathroom was honestly cleaner than at any hotel I have stayed at The cafe/restaurant in the lobby had amazing food (I had a chocolate chip cookie from there every single day because honestly it was the best) There’s also amazing views from the beautiful rooftop patio I VERY HIGHLY recommend staying here!

Gosh what a unique hostel/hotel I loved staying here They have a big, coed hostel room with comfortable, ship-berthing-inspired bunks

They have privacy curtains which I loved The hotel also has private rooms but I didn’t stay in oneI loved the common cafe area The hours are long and there are always people taking advantage of the spaceThe only thing I can say negatively about this was the location being swamped by homeless people I have compassion for them but there’s a lot of unaddressed mental health issues and it made me feel unsafe leaving at night The doors to the cafe/hotel required being buzzed in or using your room key so that was coolOverall, I would stay here again This is the nicest hostel I’ve been in

We were on our first road trip from E coast to W Coast

We had never stayed at a B&B before We were reluctant to contact any B&B But it was almost like the Hand of God put us here at the “Clackamas River House Bed & Breakfast” We were amazed and I must say very blessed to have been in the company and care of these Guardian Angels After arriving, it took only a few minutes to let our guard down and enjoy the beautiful, peaceful, ” Piece of Paradise” that God had literally dropped us into The home was great, the food was great, and Marc and Suzi were great I can’t find one thing negative about this stay Except they have set an remarkable standard for what we will expect from other B&B’s in the future Thanks for all you do to make every one’s stay with you, an unforgettable moment in time Sincerely, Michael & Sharon Teague

My 4 year old Son & I came across this little gem when the one hotel in Sandy Oregon was booked I am extremely glad that we did The owners were extremely welcoming & had a lot of patience with my excited & overly tired child lol

The house was cozy, the breakfast was delicious & the back yard was the icing on the cake I absolutely LOVE the backyard I felt like I was back in Oahu in an oasis of sorts I had a great time chatting with both Mark & Susie I was beyond impressed to find out that Mark had done all of the landscaping & wood work himself I could go on and on We had a great time & I would highly recommend I plan on staying again whenever I am in the area Thank you so much !

Marc and Susie at the Clackamas River House saved us!Best accident ever! Me and my partner were having dinner and some drinks at a bar across the bridge, after an adventure floating the river from Barton, when we realized we missed our last chance to bus back to pdx!No lyfts/ubers in the area, we frantically searched for nearby spots to crash to avoid sleeping on the riverbank overnightClackamas River House looked like our only walkable option!I called and spoke with Marc, who was able to book us and have a room ready in under 30 minutes! Boy were we relievedWhen we arrived, we would have been more than fine with anything a step above a sandy shore, but were welcomed with so much more than we could’ve hoped for!The friendliest most welcoming hosts in the Portland area, (been here for 7+yrs) Susie even let us use her phone charger overnight

Talk about hospitality! When we got to our room on the ground floor, we found the most comfortable bed ever, seriously like sleeping on a giant pillow! In the morning we got the jacuzzi going to cool off from the record breaking heat and joined the hosts and other guests for breakfastSo delicious! They were very inclusive with their food options as well, offering any dietary accommodationsLots of fresh fruit, pancakes, crispy perfectly cooked bacon, and a cheesy bell pepper egg scramble with plenty of fresh coffee, all served outside in the wonderfully dreamy gardenSo impressed to learn that all the woodworking was done by Marc himself! Gorgeous spacesCannot wait to come back for another adventure!Izze and Suzy ❤️
