My husband booked a month stay here while in the area for a travel job For the price, the room was very small and tight with little to no amenities (no hot breakfast, no pool, had to pay for laundry) after approximately 1 week of staying in this hotel We noticed a bed bug on the wall

We IMMEDIATELY notified the front desk and packed all of our belongings and found a new hotel to stay in We were refunded for the nights we did NOT stay But in my opinion, we should have been refunded for the nights we did stay after finding bed bugs As soon as we left we had to pay to have all of our belongings disinfected and were paranoid for a ridiculous amount of time that the bed bugs could have possibly followed us Luckily they did not as we were extremely thorough in our disinfecting and bed bug treating our clothing, shoes, and bagsI would not recommend this hotel There’s a hotel just up the road that is the exact same price for a WAY bigger room, incredibly clean, a pool and hot tub, hot breakfast and free laundry services… and no bed bugsEdit to add : This incident occurred on 2/20/22 The room was originally booked for 2/15/22 – 3/15/22 We checked out of the hotel on 2/20/22 at approximately 5:30PM immediately following the discovery of bed bugs Confirmation number 85663EDO48481 To say there’s no record of this incident would be a lie The reason of this review is to warn others I’ve never been in a hotel with bed bugs EVER and it left me feeling paranoid for future hotels

It’s a great hotel, staff is super nice and helpful The room is clean and beds are comfortable The location is great! Not far from West Virginia and the town is easy to get through

Also a big thank you to the Manager David and front desk guy Jason! We had booked through Dimond and things were screwed up from Dimond and those two helped us out and got us in a room Thank you again David and Jason!!!

We travel a good bit The staff was the best we’ve ever experienced From start to finish

If I could give them 100 stars, I certainly would Front desk was kind and quick to help get us in a room Rooms were clean Breakfast was warm and hit the spot Everyone was beyond helpful I seriously, appreciated this stop more than anticipated

Diane Kooser

We had a nice stay here, rooms are quiet and clean Staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast in the am was well stocked and managedThis location has 3 Tesla destination chargers and 1 J1772

Someone iced one of the spaces If you’re J1772, I’d recommend buying a Tesla tap before you stay here or travel to this area (I saw more icing on this trip to WV and OH, than I’ve seen in the entire time we’ve owned an EV)

Couples things kept this Hilton hotel from reaching a 5 star rating I stay at Hilton’s throughout the US and this time I used points to pay as it was for pleasure and not business1

There was a sign on pool that said it was closed at 7:00pm, went out later kids were in pool at 9:00pm – I suggest moving sign off door until pool is actually closed2 TV – TV had no source/cable when I turned on – went to front desk, lady got master remote went to my room and reset Easy fix but inconvenience3 Loud outside activity as my room was by outside door, and person above us was walking stomping periodically throughout night4 My digital key card was deactivated prior to checkout Could not access doors or my hotel room had to have card made at lobby desk to enter room prior to packing to leave5 Breakfast was stop at 9:15am on Sunday Usually hours are 6-9am Monday through Friday and 7-10am on the weekends I settled for bread and butter for breakfast6 Attitude of staff, staff seem grumpy/on edge when I guest has a question or complaint But are quick to resolve issue

My company has a dinner at The Galley I think the same placeI had steak, if you can call a 2oz portion steak

They had the option between chicken & steak but 3x more chicken then steakI’m sure my company paid premium prices for these meals for them to skimp outEven tho the portions are smaller then a silver dollar the food quality was amazing If they would have served a 6oz portion I would rate it 10 stars out of 5 However with the very small amount of food which was not enough to go around I only give this place a 3 star & I think that is generous

Renee Coleman

Super cool boutique hotel that has history mixed with modern updates! We stayed in the Ward room for a quick overnight stop but would love to come back and explore more and visit some local spots Nice friendly town and lovely hotel Clean room, nicely decorated and furnished

It also had a nice common area with a stocked coffee/snack bar! Highy recorecommended!

Alexandra Archer

I wish I could review the hotel, but we were unable to stay due to a problem with their check in process Our two night reservation started on a Sunday, when no one is staffed We did not receive remote check in instructions and spent hours on hold with our 3rd party travel sight, with no resolution

I’m sure it’s a lovely hotel, but do wish they would remove their listing from third party booking sites since there is incompatibility with pre check in communications – looking at other reviews, I see someone else had a similar experience

This place has the best Wi-Fi on the planet!! (This is/was kind of a joke because I maintain the wi-fi; but it’s nice to see some other comments about decent wi-fi) As far as the guy commenting about overnight stays, this is an intractable problem — with only 21 sites, the owner can’t very well schedule somebody 5 months ahead, and then be faced with a situation of having to turn away LONG TERM guests because some spot is held so far in advance The comment doesn’t appreciate the logistics of space allocation

Kevin Haught

Great location Owner is super nice and friendly Very clean and neatly kept campground

Great spots with full hookups Fishing just a few yards away from any of the spots Quite area Close to (approximately 3 miles) Marietta and all the shopping areas Lots of pizza shops to be deliveredSmitty’s Pizza our personal favoriteWe hope you have the opportunity to enjoy the relaxing spaces

Sara Craig

Called here to get advanced booking for a trip for my son’s travel ball team Wanted to book a campsite, in advance, for mid- July and was turned away because they have “reoccurring customers” that they want to save sites for When I asked when I should call, mind you, it’s February, I was told to call back the week before arrival

Given the competitiveness of campgrounds now-a-days, I’m not going to risk, not having advanced plans Told the lady that we would look for somewhere else to go So unless you are a long term, or reoccurring customer, don’t attempt to book just for a weekend

We got a week here because we were in between housing We had to switch room twice! The first time because there were no curtains, the room we switched to had a tv that wasnt programed and when i called the front desk the clerk alwas extremely rude! The second time was because the lamp between the beds was broken & showing wires My daughter tried to turn it on, in which is sparked shorting out the entire room! The carpets are filthy i can say we did have clean skeets and the room was bedbug free

The wifi has been out for our entire stay though which is inconvenient But the maid service was nice & helped when they could

The shampoo, conditioner, & body wash, which were big, refillable bottles, were also empty!! For over $200 a nighti should not have too get these things myself!!!! Breakfast was great! Loved the cinnamon rolls Great variety to choose from also

Gato Libero

One of the better kept Holiday Inn Express’s I’ve stayed at in a long time It was so clean I had to ask the lady if the hotel was brand new, but she said it was 5 years old Nice

The only problem was a broken elevator and a door that was a bit rough to push open, but no big deal Definitely worth a stay if you’re traveling north/south along 77

Room was clean and whole hotel is quaint with the old riverboat style Love the old phone booths in one hallway! They serve a really good breakfast in a nice dining room and you get a coupon with your room rental for $5 off whatever you order from the breakfast menu or a free continental breakfast Hotel has a nice bar

Really fun place to stay in a cute river town

D.E. Osborn

Quaint, well maintained and quite interesting in the old hotel decor This will take you back to a bygone era Check in was smooth, with staff being pleasant, helpful and approachable

This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel! The only negatives was (1) no refrigerator/microwave and (2) the room was on the small side for a king bed But, as it was only myself staying the night, quite nice and comfortable Will definitely be back if only to try the Gun Room Restaurant The Riverview Bar & Grill did NOT disappoint and the meal was great (see my review there) Next time will book one of the rooms with a balcony and sit there watching the river flow by

Michael S

The hotel was historic, so it has that going for it, antiques in the rooms is a nice touch I noticed that if there were a fire I would have a three st I ry drop to cement with no fire escape unless I went in the hall and down to the next hall The mattress was higher at the foot than the head, we turned it

The mattress was way too soft to sleep in, no support at all The staff was friendly I rate it 3 out of 5

A little over the top for me The room was great, people nice, & very comfortableBreakfast was decent but I expected more for the price

Better then having an option of bagels or cold cereal but at least a buffet style breakfast would have been betterIt had a nice size refrigerator that was nice and enjoyed having real plates and a coffee cup in the room For just one night the cooktop, kitchen sink, and dishwasher was a bit muchWe got there late and left early so I can’t tell you if there is more Overall it was a great stay

Mollie Halko-Smeker

What a wonderful hotel! After driving all day with a toddler it was the perfect place to rest We had requested the 2 room suite and it exceeded our expectations The bed was comfortable and the pack n play had sheets and a coverlet

The kitchenette had everything you could need Very clean and very quiet There are so many amenities but we weren’t there long enough to take advantage of them all

Psmith smith

The reason I gave a three star review was because of the followingOkay so it was a special day for me and my new wife, she was 27 weeks pregnant at the time and more then anything wanted a jet or soaker tub to help with her aches and pains So I called the hotel and they told me that the kind deluxe room was the one that had a soak/jet tub, but it was only after paying that I was told there was no tub

I was still okay with this because they had an indoor pool, but when we got into the pool it was ice cold The breakfast was not worth the price of the room and the the TV was small and placed on the wall making it hard to watchNow with all of this being said the staff was friendly and kind although miss informed as too what was included in the room we got I asked for flower pedals on the bed and the came through and folded two towels to looks like swans kissing, and with that plus the fact the room was clean are the only reasons this hotel got three starsYou let down my wife on a special day and I wish that hadn’t happened

We are IHG Spire Elite members and as such have stayed in many IHG properties across the east coast Our stay at this hotel was the first night of a spring break road trip Upon check in, Melissa was extremely friendly and welcoming

I have a weird allergy that often is not accommodated so we are in the habit of checking whenever we enter our room (I’m allergic to feathers and down) I had called ahead and was told the property doesn’t have feather pillows Upon arrival, we found that there were feather pillows We removed them and let the desk know Melissa was amazing She was very apologetic and tracked down poly pillows She apologized profusely None of it was her fault and we weren’t mad She was incredibly accommodating and did everything in possible to ensure a great stayWe stayed in a queen suite sofa bed room The room was huge! The beds were clean and comfortable The room was larger than the $400/night Marriott we stayed at last weekend in Richmond VA Don’t expect Marriott amenities but this is an amazing Holiday Inn Express My husband enjoyed the hot tub at the pool (Which the Marriott in reference didn’t offer)If your travels take you to Parkersburg, stay here Melissa will take great care of you

Daniel Hayhurst

Rooms were nice & clean and the younger gentleman at the desk helped tremendously with finding us a wheelchair accessible room for my grandmother at such a late hour of the night and also helped with getting a roll away for my son and even brought extra blankets to our room The breakfast was good and hot The elderly lady who was setting breakfast out reeked of cigarettes, came off to be miserable with life, and took what seemed like a cigarette break every five minutes and not washing hands afterwards

Disgusting She cursed like a sailor near the front desk with the woman working the desk at the time which is extremely unprofessional My opinion- move the smoking area and hire some people who have more customer service skills All in all a great establishment

This was literally the best hotel experience I’ve ever had I have traveled extensively and this hotel is the perfect blend of bed and breakfast treatment with a boutique hotel feel You can tell the staff love and are proud of their town and heritage

The rooms are clean, the brunch was delicious and every staff member we interacted with was very helpful The room was clean and comfortable We will be back

Meg Palicka

The overall friendliness of the daytime staff was great today But we have had several other issues First, the hotel only took $4 off of the price for block rates for the rooms

Then, half of my wedding party was unable to book for the block rates I called 4 times before someone finally fixed that issue Today, however, we came in as a large wedding party, and we asked ahead of time if we would have space to socialize, they assured us we would have plenty of space Now, at 11:00 at night, they kicked our party off the patio, and they told us to go inside to the atrium, where we would then disturb all of the other guests because it’s open in the center to floors 3-5 We were not disrespectful or loud The gentlemen on duty used profane language while speaking to us, and was generally disrespectful when we were trying to resolve the problem For what they charge for this place, it is not worth it Save your money and go to the chains down the street that are more than happy to accommodate us We really wanted to support a historic, local business and our needs were absolutely not met

Jeanne Milford

Beautifully maintained Our room was cozy and we enjoyed the extra care put into our stay Extras that we appreciated: robes in our room; Keurig for coffee, tea or hot chocolate with real creamer; hand held make-up mirror; and a floor fan forsleeping! Kyle was very attentive as our bartender

Make sure you make reservations if you are going to dine at the hotel The outdoor patio and fire pit were an added bonus Just a great place to relax, eat, and sleep

I was greatly disappointed From arrival, no one at the front desk to check us in, the rooms need updating Our bedding was ripe towels are old

Extremely loud in halls ways when trying to sleepI was most disappointed and shocked when I went down for breakfast and watching the employee put the pasties in with NO gloves and told everyone my hands are clean! After she had been touching the tray the bin to open the pasties and put her bare hands on the pasties, during the pandemic! Horrified, left and did not EAT thereI personally will not return or recommend this hotel

The stay was a very good stay The pool was great The breakfast was good and filling to continue our travels on

The staff was very nice to work with and they were very professional while dealing with us The real big reason we are not giving the hotel five stars is the hotel is of some age and we noticed that there are multiple soft areas in the floors (at least the 3rd floor) The other thing we noticed was the drain in the tub did not drain fast enough to keep up with the water from a shower The property was very clean When we head back through, I believe we would not mind staying there again

Susan Hodges Grant

Avoid at all costs We had a full car and I am disabled and there were NO carts to bring in our luggage Well, actually there was a cart behind the desk, but neither of the desk crew (2 people) wanted to move the items on it

It took my husband 4 trips bringing in all our belongings And you do NOT want to leave your belongings in your car as this is a questionable area The room said “non-smoking,” yet the aroma of cigarette smoke hangs in the room Additionally, aside from the cigarette aroma, it also has the faint odor of urine You get 2 double beds, not queen, and they are not comfortable The fan in the bathroom is painfully loud The outlets by the bed do not work, so don’t even consider charging anything and they are assuredly not into the 21st century with power outlets for electronic equipment And there is no streaming option on the TV with a very limited selection And the microwave was filthy Far too expensive for this area and this type of third-rate hotel Free parking, though! My opinion: Go to the Hampton Inn, which I wished we booked

Ady Lang

I had a terrible experience My family got ready to go down to the pool but it was disgusting The pool itself was like a big hot bathtub

There was no water flow and the water looked very cloudy and gross Not to mention, it’s pretty small and there was about 8 people inside of it Also, the hot tub was terrible The whole thing had dirt everywhere and the water was green! Also there were a few minor inconveniences like outlets not working, dirty room, and the people that stayed here were just kinda sketchy

We got stuck unexpectedly due to car trouble- with our 2 children (11& 14) and our dog 😖😩😭 It was a nightmare- until we arrived here The rooms were clean and fresh- the staff was soooo sweet! The other guests are considerate of one another, as the hotel is pet friendly

I’ve stayed in many pet friendly hotels- across the country- up and down both coasts and in between… this place was by far, miles ahead of any other establishment I’ve been to I mean seriously clean and super inexpensive- (not to be confused with cheap) I will recommend to everyone and if I could have given them 10 stars I would have!!

Hotel is nice Newer buildingCheck-in was easy

Unfortunately, not a single ice machine was in working order And also unfortunate that the cleaning crew did not notice wet gross trash in the ice bucket that was in our room Attention to detail is crucial!More of a one-off occurrence, but it was unpleasant no less

Joe Corra

I’ve stayed at this hotel previously, and it’s fine–the building is new, the rooms are modern and clean However, on my most recent stay it was obvious the place was under new management As is becoming sadly common among mid-range hotels, new owner-operators are hostile to the concept of customer service

Don’t expect a smile, a greeting, an explanation of the hotel’s amenities, or even directions to your room from the desk staff (the staff seem to be comprised solely of the proprietors’ family, who also appear to be living in the hotel) During check-in, the proprietors’ interaction with me was limited to “what’s your name”, “give me your ID”, and “sign there”, after which he wordlessly slapped a room key on the counter and walked away I’ve never been arrested, but I imagine this might be just a step above the prison intake processThere are some signs that basic property maintenance is being neglected; for instance, large clumps of vegetation sprout from the gutters, suggesting they haven’t been cleaned in ages Ominously, management has taped a piece of paper on the door which reads, “WE HAVE WEEKLY RATES” I choose to stay at places like the Sleep Inn precisely because it’s not the type of hotel that would attract a clientele looking for “weekly rates”; however, the owner apparently has different plans It’s a shame

Very unprofessional and no common courtesy Called for a room at 3 am

been driving all day and night, they have rooms available for the new day for $84, but can’t check in til 5, but she has some now and I have to be out by noon she’ll rent me for 120 plus taxes it would be a hundred and thirty something, seriously, doesn’t make any sense, thanks lady, and she was happy about it after I questioned her I’m an auditor myself and I know very well she already done the audit and is on the new day on her computers already, nice way to be real a-hole

I stayed 2 nights The room was properly made-up for my 1st night’s stay However, when I returned to the hotel the evening of the second day for that night’s stay, I noticed the room was NOT cleaned and made-up again as anyone would expect

Trash not emptied, wash cloth and hand towel not replaced with fresh, coffee amenities not replaced, bed not made In short, they skipped doing my room The old adage “You get what you pay for” is mostly true! I will try my best to steer clear of any lodgings which are franchisees of Choice Hotels There are twelve brands associated with Choice Hotels: Ascend, Cambria, Comfort, Sleep, Clarion(2), Quality, Main Stay, WoodSpring, Suburban, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn There are PLENTY of other hotels to choose from and many are close to the ones to avoid so if location is an issue, it probably won’t beThet also charged my credit card MORE than they quoted me in my reservation confirmation and it appears I may not be able to recover the overcharge! You live and you learn! My advice is to stay away from any CHOICE HOTELS franchisees (they are independently owned and operated)CAVEAT EMPTOR!!

Pleasant staff, no bugs, free coffee Located near the mall and lots of food Short drive to the hospital Could use some updating but that doesn’t make or break my stay Just want clean Happy with my stay
