The Sea Blue Hotel is such a gem if you’re looking for a nice, affordable stay near the Santa Monica pier! It’s literally steps away from the beach, restaurants, bars, bike rentals, etc Our room was perfectly spacious for 2 people, very clean, and nicely decorated for a “60s vibe” California trip There’s also a microwave and coffee maker in the lobby for guest use, outside tables/chairs, and a balcony on the back side with a nice view of the pier and ocean! All of the staff were so helpful and accommodating
They also helped us find overnight parking when their lot was full Oh, and it’s only a few blocks from the metro and bus stations as well!

I had only pleasant experiences no matter what time of day or night and even some great conversationsI knocked off a star because of the bathroom It really needs remodeling badly The sink stopper got stuck in the down position a few times and the shower pressure could have been better if the water wasn’t also flowing from the main faucet at the same timeBathroom aside, this is a great place I hated knocking off a full star, but the review had to be an honest one

Pros: Great location and staff was very friendlyCons: Our room faced the street side, and there is no insulation or sound proofing on the door or windows Our stay was very noisy from late night guests returning home in revelry to incessant car traffic along Ocean
The shower head pressure is also very weak and showerhead is probably 5’5″ high The AC unit attached to the window is right above the toilet and doesn’t work! I’d say you can find better value elsewhere

I knew when I booked this room that it was several blocks back from the ocean So I had low expectations for an “ocean view” room I was pleasantly surprised by the view from the large balcony of our 7th floor west-facing room
We had a great sweeping view of the ocean over the low rise buildings, including the mountains and coastline all the way to MalibuThe room was good sized, clean, comfortable, and in good working order The only downside for me was the lack of a coffee maker in the room I know that’s a personal preference But for me, that’s a deal breaker when choosing a hotelService was great throughout the hotel, including valet parking, the front desk, and restaurantThere’s not a lot within close walking distance, so having a car is important Fortunately, the hotel restaurant has great food at restaurant prices And the complimentary valet parking saves at least $50 a night compared to many nearby hotels

This was the easiest hotel experience ever! We chose Sonder because it was significantly cheaper than Airbnb options and I’m so glad we did It was a central location, the room was really cute and overall the process of checking in was so simple I gave it 4 stars because the walls are quite thin so you can hear the people walking above you if they’re loud, and I was able to hear the cleaning lady vacuuming the hallway one afternoon
However, for the price and convenience it really is a fantastic option We found street parking right next to the hotel without an issue every night and it felt like a safe area

It’s quaint & clean, and a bit dated compared to a name brand hotel, but the location on the marina beach is amazing, especially for the price compared to the surrounding hotels We stayed on the 2nd floor with patio overlook of beach 1st floor has a larger patio with a picture window view of beach

This is simply the best hotel in Santa Monica The service from the booking process to checking out is exemplary This was my tenth visit to the hotel since it opened
Ramon at check in was so friendly and helpful – he wrote a list of cafes and restaurants to visit and told me about a local band that was playing at the hotel one evening that week The hotel also offers free bikes and you can book them out for half a day – there is a cycle path along the coast which is beautifulAnother person who provided excellent service was Tony on the bell desk – he is very friendly and helpful Jesse is also another excellent employee who is a credit to the hotel and he helped me with my reservation prior to arrivalThe rooms are spacious and have stylish wooden floors and the balcony is just the right size to sit out and eat dinner on whilst watching the sunset The pool area is clean and never too busy and the hot tub is a welcome addition after a day of cycling!The hotel is in an ideal location – 5 minutes from the pier and 5 minutes from the Third Street Promenade with a range of restaurants and cafesThank you again for another outstanding stay!

Hotel feels safe, and location is prime You’re across the pier and walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores, convenience stores, and obviously the beach I love the bike rental they provide, that made our Santa Monica visit so much better and I would stay here again because of their easy to use bikes and the location!! The room is modern, spacious, and beautiful They’re not your tacky cookie cutter large chain hotel rooms with the outdated carpets (We didn’t utilize the pool or other amenities but they looked great!) We are 100% starting here again when we return to Santa Monica

I would have given a 5 star if there was no bed bugs I got bitten on my neck, head skin, arm, and they are very itchy Hopefully, they won’t infest in my house That was the only downside to this place

I stayed there 2 nights but almost didn’t come back for the second one John was very nice during the tour of the location but it was never precised that they have rats/ mice on the premise and one of them got me up all night chasing it away I ended up in the morning tired, With a hole in my bag that the rat managed to do to reach through my stuff
When I talked to the person in charge in the morning, she didn’t even look at me as she was on her phone and finally said « sorry we should have let you know » which is very limited… I will not recommend !

I stayed here with my Sister and niece and I am only reviewing the property as I paid for none of it so I can’t give insight on pricing Valet was quick and efficient They have an outdoor pool on the 3rd floor with plenty of seating in the area
No hot tub that was disappointing for one of the kids and myself There is a restaurant on site if you don’t feel like going out, but it’s a bit pricing compared to other food options in the area But you pay for convenience Location wise it’s maybe a 8 to ten minute walk to the pier and maybe the same to the downtown shops It’s really not a far walk and kept us active and not having to worry about parking in the city The room we were in was nice and the only wish I have is that in addition to the mini fridge that they had a microwave in-room also You can store leftovers but can’t reheat them I didn’t hear people through the walls or overhead so that’s a positive Also I appreciate that the tv allowed us to plug in our Nintendo Switch easily with no restrictions to keep the kids entertained Depending on pricing I’d definitely stay here again

One of the best hotels I’ve visited I have stayed at hotels for $500 a night that weren’t as nice as this The entire hotel was IMMACULATE and smelled so good
We saw the maintenance team scrubbing the elevator floors at night The restaurant (though overpriced) had really good food The location is ideal, the room was super clean and comfortable My husband slept on the pull-out sofa with my son and it was as comfortable as the bed The room was quiet and had modern amenities like a nightlight in the bathroom and plentiful USB charging ports I’d definitely stay there again

Great hotel! Room was very clean I asked for a quiet room and they put me at the end of a hallway It was so dark and quiet in the room I felt like I was in a sensory deprivation tank! I loved it
The staff is amazing! Especially the front desk workers Super friendly and accommodatingI loved the pool and hot tub which I must say I had to myself The pool is heated which is very nice!The location is really great Close to the pier and beach and third street promenade It is true that there are many homeless people in the area However, the area is heavily patrolled and I didn’t feel unsafe in the least Having said that, any hotel near the ocean in LA will have the same problem At least the Marriot has some safety protocols in placeI don’t usually write hotel reviews but I really appreciated my time here and I recommend the hotel to anyone!

While I had an issue my first night, they quickly resolved and upgraded me to another room The rooms were spotless, I didn’t use the pool or the gym but the outdoor fireplace was great area to unwind at night The hotel only uses valet parking through a 3rd party just outside the front which comes at $49/night, there are other parking options if you don’t mind walking

First of all, I loved the room I stayed in I was able to secure a room to accommodate my pet, so that was huge bonus points from me The bed was comfortable, the shower got hot very quickly, and the sink/table/microwave area was spacious
The front desk staff upon check in was super friendlyThe hotel is located by a lot of businesses so it’s perfect for walking distance The breakfast is within Covid standards, so you’re going to get simple, yet still filling, food items I was satisfied with the selection and have no complaints thereA couple of cons though – I stayed in a ground level room The floors are not carpeted which means extra loud walking from the occupants above me It was a big distraction so if you plan on staying here, make sure to specify a second floor However, there may be a down side to that because there are no elevators (at least in the building I stayed in there wasn’t)And finally, there are very limited parking spaces with the city not allowing street parking If you get a parking spot right away, I would strongly suggest not driving your vehicle for the rest of the night because it was a major struggle for me The front desk staff had to give me a pass to use at Trader Joe’s to park (which is about a two-min walk away)

A hotel 6 would have been better than this We paid $500/night for the worst hotel experience of our lives The furniture was old and outdated, the floors were dusty and dirty and the windows were dirty and couldn’t be opened
The bed was pushed towards the window with little room to sit and enjoy the view while there was a huge open area to the other side The ironing board didn’t work (legs were broken) and the chaise had white spots on it and looked as if it hadn’t ever been cleaned The plumbing was clogged and there were very few amenitiesThey had a huge private pool party the day we checked in (which they didn’t warn us about) and we couldn’t use the pool The party was obnoxiously loud and disturbing and had I known about it, I would have gone elsewhere They didn’t clean our room during our entire stay and on the day of checkout we were an hour late checking out and they sent security to threaten us Then they called our room every five minutes to harass us, even though we assured them we were doing our best to get packed upCustomer service is a joke here This hotel is a stand alone hotel and run by a general manager who doesn’t know the first thing about customer service The young guy behind the front desk is extremely RUDE and should be working as a bouncer at a nightclub, not a hotel The staff are untrained and unqualified to be in the service industry (except the Valet, who was extremely friendly and courteous) They do not know how to run a hotel and just trying to keep their dilapidated hotel afloatBe warned, don’t waste your money staying here! We’ve never been so disappointed This place is an EPIC FAILURE

We were advised upon check-in that the housecleaning service would only be offered every three days We cannot imagine any luxury hotel advising guests that their room will only be cleaned every three days Unthinkable There is no executive lounge and the meal service is minimal The manager did offer us free drinks at the hotel bar to make up for the lack of the lounge At $450/night average, we can think of many better hotels more deserving of our patronage When we return to Santa Monica, we will not return to this hotel

Food is not great My daughter had a chicken sandwich $25 and it made her sick-Eduardo who is REALLY great took it off the bill!! He in fact went and found me a Coke-they only have Pepsi (yuck)!!! They don’t even have guacamole and chips!! Lol Eduardo is your guy!! Excellent customer service! Benny the manager was great too!! Everyone was really nice there! Love hate relationship with the Valet-they charge you $55 a day but you are tipping every single time you are coming and going-so it ends up at $110+ a day or really whenever you get your car I wouldn’t stay here again! Marriott gave me 15k miles to make up for it-but I definitely think the Residence Inn would of been better

This place is great if you just need a place to lay your head and move on The rooms were clean and the staff was super nice and accommodating, but if you are staying here to attend an event or have any reason to get ready or put on makeup ( ladies) it’s almost impossible The lighting in the rooms is terrible! I don’t know who wrote 5 star reviews describing a bellhop and service, I found this place very poorly run, dirty, unattended most of the time and very much like a motel When I got there with a huge suitcase I had to drag it over the entrance that’s fitted with boulder-like non-slip feature which is fine if you can get help but there was no one The carpeting on the floor is thick and nothing rolls over it
The carpet on the floor has huge stains and looked very old Breakfast was disgusting, no coffee, no one to ask about it 15 mins later someone appeared to refill the brew Food selection was on the level of an airport motel This place is a rip off Stay away

The hostel has a dinning area which is a good place to share breakfast or a quick meal and catch up on travel ideas or updates with other travellers or simply share a conversation Rooms are clean and quiet and there are lockers if you happen to want to use oneIt’s in Santa Monica, near 3rd street promenade and the Santa Monica Pier
There is also a grocery store a few blocks up and a range of dinning options, from street food to almost anything you might wanna eat You can find the beach crossing the other side of the road and all in all, you’re staying in a landmark area of W LA It’s a cool place

Great hostel for a first timer! Check in time was a little long, but the room was spacious and the showers were very very clean They provide everything you need, and it’s all close to the Santa Monica pier and mountains, making it an affordable and ideal place to stay in this area Park your car right across the street in the garage, that’s affordable too!

Stayed here a couple of times already and love it I felt safe and met great people They have a big kitchen where you can cook and fridge/ freezer to store food
They have vending machines by the kitchen It’s close to the beach and stores There is a juice place next door ( a bit expensive), and Hot8 Yoga Sprouts is about a 10-15 minute walk (near Target) Just be alert because there are a lot of homeless people with mental disorders There is a big parking lot across the street but don’t know how much per day The staff was pretty nice too

I would give the hotel itself 3 stars It’s just an average room I liked that it had a suite area and a balcony! The bathroom was insanely tiny
The pool was OK The spa was broken The breakfast was good It’s getting 4 stars from me because ALL of the staff we interacted was very friendly and accommodating I would stay here again

It’s an older motel so some things are to be expected like the thin walls and small bathrooms The heater didn’t work in our room In one bed you could feel the springs in the mattress
The other bed the mattress was very hard The fan had a ton of dust on it although it was cold so we didn’t need it lol But the staff was awesome, the soap was awesome and we received a breakfast in a paper back So 35☆ Oh and it’s about 13 miles from the peir

Suuuper loved our stay here! We just got to LA and Laura was really accommodating! Everything was in order and the place was pretty clean My mom was on a wheelchair and we were able to move around smoothlyLocation wise i think it’s pretty good to like walk around or take the bus to key sights to see in santa monica!Overall, would def stay again ✨
