We stayed in the Yurt and it was super cute! You cross a little babbling creek and the trees all around made for such a picturesque spot! The bed was comfy and they had all the little items you would need for a comfy overnight stay We even enjoyed some star gazing They have a fireplace with free wood too which would have been awesome if we weren’t so tired from having a blast in Deadwood

The only 2 downsides were noise from traffic so just bring earplugs Also, when I went to the bathroom before bed in the shower house I was sitting there minding my own business when all of a sudden water gushed up from the toilet and splashed all over my nether regions It was ALL over me and even got my sweatpants wet I was NOT pleased and was so thankful I hadn’t actually gone to the bathroom yet GROSS!!!

Great place to stay Clean, inexpensive, close to skiing at Terry peak, nice little sauna, did I say cleanA couple things to be aware of that come with not staying in city

Well water that doesn’t give as much water pressure as what you might be used to Right on road so road noise could be issue for some people in high seasonI gave 5 stars because was exactly what I wanted

Place is A-1 in my book We booked a standard double room while on the road from Mandan Pulled in at 9pm, checking in was a breeze

I asked the gentleman at the desk how late they cook their pizzas, and he said they were done for the night Not a big deal Then lady that was beside the gentleman finished checking In another guest and said they could do a pizza for me, I would just have to pick one out and put in the pizza oven located in the lobby Awesome! Then she explains how everything is closed at this time of the night so she understands I told her my sons will be happy and I thanked her again Then she tells me to go get settled in and she’ll bring the pizza to the room with paper plates Another awesome move on her part We get settled in and there is a knock on the door there she was with our pizza and she threw in a candy bar The Lady is a Saint! Customer Service was through the roof I will recommend this place to everyone Bedwas comfortable AC cooled the room real quick, fridge, coffee pot, and microwave is always a plus

Days Inn is one of the nicer hotel/motels in Spearfish Some of the older motels have been turned into apts so there’s not a lot of choices in town This is clean & comfortable & walking distance to Safeway, fast food, good coffee & the town’s fancy swimming pool

Main street proper is about 5 blocks with sidewalks all the way into town It’s a great location & the price is right Make reservations as the tourist season is in full swing now Oh, free breakfast!

M. Eldridge

stayed there in June 2022 Its a dated hotel with room entrances from both inside & outside Rooms was clean

The AC unit did not work that well had to get help when we first arrived & guy unplugged to get start cooling and for 2 days i had to unplug & regularly to get cooling again I don’t mind a broken room as long as i pay broken room prices but i was charger full price we would not stay there again One plus was the breakfast area was nice, somewhat different u had to order what u wanted & someone brought it out to your table

Andrew Peterson

The staff was very friendly I asked about a rollaway bed and was uograded to the “suite” wich has a sofa bed the room was clean with comfortable beds, and a hot shower

The breakfast was just right, eggs, sausage and toast with a banana Even saw a few prepackaged bakery items The coffee was hot and ready to go This is the perfect place to stay while traveling and they even accommodate your 4 legged family members The price was excellent I would stay again

What a gem even in winter! Arcade, bar, pool tables and darts all open after lunch in the hotel Perfect start with breakfast, a somewhat small pool but absolutely sufficient Just was absolutely great

We did stop at the visitors center and get $1 tokens for the deadwood trolley If you pay on the trolley, it’s $2 per ride but it’s a great way to get around from the hotel My only wish is that the trolley would stop at the chocolate shop up the road or a hotel near it – no issue of the hotel, just my little wish:)

A great hotel with a beautiful location The room was very clean and comfortable The staff is friendly and helpful about all the hot spots to go visit

Mini golf course, arcade room , bar , slot machines, restaurant, exercise room and the trolly that comes by every two hours to drop you off right to any location downtown Will definitely be going back for the great experience

Ok, so in the past couple years driving across the country I’ve stayed here 4 times, and I have to say this is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at The price is great, the beds and rooms are really good And the pool hot tub area is nice

Many rooms have outside access and have a nice view for wildlife The staff are top notch and super friendly and helpful But it’s the breakfast that seals the deal Real eggs real omelets made fresh, etc

Button sister Noodle

We’ve got some family down in Iowa, so occasionally we make trips down there When on our way last time in November, we made last minute reservations and it was an excellent stay This time we booked this hotel ahead of time and again, it was fantastic

The lady at the front desk, Denver, recognized us from last time and was super accommodating We left the hotel at 3 am, and she made all of the kids a little breakfast bag to take with them Overall its an amazing hotel to stay at if you happen to stop in Belle Fourche

John L

Clean quiet rooms and friendly staff Lobby seating area has selection of paperback books and games that you can play I’d like to make a special point to mention Diane that works in the breakfast bar room

She is delightful, helpful, and makes a great omelet I wish every hotel I visit to had someone like her! Thank you I will be back!

Nice accommodations, but parking is located across the street and very tight We could barely get out when we left, it was so tightBeware if you are booking for 5 people

The reservation system will tell you it will sleep 5, but the hotel will charge another $10 for a rollaway because they don’t have any rooms that sleep 5 Hotel staff (specifically Kyra, the assistant manager) was unhelpful and insisted on charging me extra anyway I will be disputing this charge with the credit card company since I’m getting no help from hotel management

There is a small “water park” and a big hot tub for the kids to enjoyThe casino is pretty large and the machines weren’t super tight They have about 8 table games if you prefer cards The sports book is very nice with a massive TV screenWe went to the sports bar the good was good amd the the wait was shortThey are under construction but you hardly notice once inside

Deb Landoll

We drove here to eat at Oggie’s Sport Bar and we were very pleased with the service, selection and quality of food Would definitely eat here again if we were in the area We we staying in a cabin nearby and decided we wanted a nice dinner one evening

What an awesome place to stay!!!! I have been going up to the Black Hills for 30+ years and have never been to Whitewood before let alone the Iron Horse Inn, what a gem!! This is your basic motel with beds, A/C, and a bathroom but it is clean and well kept! There is an onsite Bar and restaurant that is very reasonable and has a good vibe The owners Andie and Greg are very personable and hands on! They go out of their way to make sure everything is above board for their customers!!! I will definitely be back!!! I will also make it a point to stop by in August for a cold one:-) By the way, they are motorcycle friendly where you park right outside your door and vehicles do not have access, what a plus!!! Well done Iron Horse Inn owners and staff!!

Mike M

Great place off the beaten path Motorcycle friendly as you can park your bike right in front of your door and have it semi protected by the rain I Bar right next door was good

There is not a microwave or mini fridge in room Have a cooler when you comeWould definitely stay here again

Taylor Pierce

I normally receive great business here and everyone is always super nice However I stayed here last nigh, and saw a note in the office stating one of the rooms had ants everywhere Well not thinking anything of it, we got a room for $144

Just to wake up and find the entire room and our belongings covered in ants When we told the owner he refused us a refund of any sort, since we had to check out today anyways Very disgusted

We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was the perfect place for us It was not their busy season so they let us park our 12ft motorcycle trailer there when they normally would not Sarah was very polite and friendly and often would smile and say hi if she saw us outside of the room

The rooms themselves were clean, cozy, and the beds were comfortable Worth the price and was only a few minutes drive from downtown or a few minutes walk to an amazing diner nearby

Dave Cartwright

We’ve been coming here for years, even under new management it’s still a great place Rooms are well kept and most of all the A/C works Parking is in the rear, good for bikes, you can also wash your bike here as well

I have stayed at multiple Best Westerns, and this one does not meet the standard you would expect Beds and pillows were old, washroom was very tiny, sink would back up quickly, a/c roared away and was even set on low Room in general was dated and sub-par

I would have moved hotels if it wasn’t for Sturgis Bike week and limited availability A month earlier I stayed in Spearfish at the Days Inn and it was great, this Best Western was a big downgradeHowever, the staff service was great, really friendly, and the location was also greatAll chains have a responsibility to maintain a certain standard so people can confidently book and reasonably know what your going to get, this one does not fit the chain

Jim French

Extremely dissatisfied with the service received at the Spearfish location Contacted Best Western well in advance to cancel our reservation due to a family development prohibiting travel for this date We were scheduled to stay only one night before attending a basketball camp at Black Hills State the next day

Unfortunately our daughter (camp participate) was injured and therefore unable to participate We cancelled her camp entirely & immediately when the severity of the injury confirmed The camp was understandingBest Western was not!During the conversation with Best Western we were informed we could not cancel and was referred to speak directly to the hotel Hotel representative (Mark) received the request and did what he could to assist us and spoke to the GM on our behalf Unfortunately the GM was unwilling to work with us even though we notified them well in advance and also are long time Best Western members After this experience and failed customer service from one GM in Spearfish we are disappointed and will never stay at a Best Western in any location in the future

We had a great stay, in the finest Mountain Harmony Suite It’s a beautiful room the has panoramic views of Deadwood and the surrounding Hills The restaurant on site had fantastic food and were accomodating for our special diet needs

This is a fairly expensive place to stay, and that fact slightly reduced my rating We stayed on a Wednesday and Thursday evening in June 2022, and the hotel was not seemingly busy so the price seemed high for a weekday stay Also, a negative to our family was having to walk through the Casino and take 2 elevators to get to our room Not an ideal situation for having younger kids Overall, I would stay here again next time we visit Deadwood!!

Nathan Telkamp

So, I have to say, I booked this hotel accidentally My wife and I were coming for a comedy show, and we thought it would be nice to stay the night I had a gift card for the lodge at deadwood

My mistake, of course, but the rude inflexibility of Robyn at the front desk was frustrating when she told me she would “absolutely not” cancel my reservation for me So there, I was out 330$ for one nightThe customer service was poor throughout the night There were no plates or utensils in the room for the microwave I went down to the front desk to ask for microwaveable plates to warm up some leftovers, and they gave me Styrofoam plates and said that was all they haveNow, after my stay, I find out on my bank statement that I’m being charged 16$ for “Spa Charges” for the SOAP Have you ever been charged for hotel soap before? This stay was a total bummer If you want to go to Deadwood, I would absolutely walk all the way to the Lodge or even Cadillac Jack’s before every staying here again

Dana Hanna

Reasons to stay here:- you require top notch amazingly comfortable beds, linens, blankets- you have a gambling problem- you have too much money- nothing else is availableI fell in the last category as it was a last minute trip and needed a room somewhereThe only entrance is through the casino and up an elevator to the lobby Then you have to take another elevator to your room

Parking is in a garage across the street from the main entrance This all makes it quite a hike if you have a lot of luggage There is concierge and valet tho, so again with the money, you’re welcome to have people do the work for ya if that’s your thingLocation was very convenient for walking into historic downtown and up town to Adam’s house and area aroundFront desk was neutral Not very informative or pleasant

Rooms are dated and tired, obvious furniture missing from multiple rooms, showers are short and have to bend over to climb into The walls are thin and you can hear every door close on the entire floor Anybody walking past your room sounds like an elephant due to poor construction

The parking lot lights shine directly into your window and the curtains don’t do a good job of blocking the light at night The continental breakfast is laughable No protein at all All carbs and suger, with even worse coffee RidiculousLocation isn’t bad tho

Beautiful location, beautiful lobby Nice bar and gift shop but drinks and gift shop items are pretty outrageously priced Love that we were able to bring our dogs without an issue

Love the hiking trail right behind the hotel Only about 25 minutes from downtown Spearfish Wish the beds weren’t so firm but weren’t too bad Overall had a lovely weekend

Tracy Stegner

My family & I have enjoyed this lodge and restaurant for many years I called to make reservations for this Mother’s Day with a guest services young lady named ” Bernie” What a delight! She represents this destination in excellence! Kudos Bernie! We love it here! Food is wonderful, the service impeccable and the views from the outdoor patio are amazing for photo ops!

Jason Motley

The lodge itself was very nice It’s clean and in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen Surrounded by mountains and beautiful water falls with trails

There were a couple of things that brought down the experience My reservation got moved to a smaller room because of a non working fireplace without consulting me Same price just a smaller room That was disappointing but still made it work I was surprised at just how cheap the shears were They weren’t the right sheet for a deep mattress and would come off every time we got into the bed The “comforter “ was something you would expect in a $49 room not a $200 roomThe staff were friendly at check in however if you asked for anything from them they were willing to help but not excited about itOver all it was a great experience and if a few hospitality changes were made it would be an outstanding experience with 5 stars!

Great stay at an unbeatable price! It’s hard to find good accommodation in Sturgis, and I’m so glad I got a room here The room was spotless, and the walls were very thick Someone next door was vocalizing in the night (due to intellectual disability, not deliberate behavior), but remarkably, it wasn’t audible at all when I was in my room

Night desk staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the young woman who was training someone else (didn’t catch a name) Loved the hassle-free checkout; just dropped my keys and went

I wanted to like this hotel While it was nice the people were nice, it just fell short The problems started at the beginning went to check in and they don’t do ANY check-ins before 3pm

Which you guessed it causes a backup at 3pm Was in line to check in for about 15 mins just to be told our room wasn’t ready and they would call in the next 20 mins to let us know our room was ready 35 mins later went in to find out what was going on, they had the keys just waiting there No call, nothingThe rooms were nice but there is NO sound barrier You hear the people upstairs doing everything There was such a gap between the door and the frame and the floor I had to get their extra blanket to cover it up just to sleep This is a pet friendly hotel and we have dogs while they’re usually pretty good with the barking when they hear something by their room they are going to bark With no sound barrier and the spaces in the door this was a crazy mess Good luck!

I have stayed here several times now They have nice clean and comfortable rooms The pool area is large with plenty of seating especially if you have a large family or are traveling with a couple of families

The pool also has access to an outdoor patio with a grassy area Friendly staff as well They do not have breakfast but they do offer a discount coupon for Perkins which is across the parking lot and they also have a snack/breakfast bag If I could recommend one thing it would be to bring your own bath towel, I am not a large man but a hand towel rivals the size of their bath towels Overall a very good value

Things I didn’t like: The walls are thin, and the lights are operated individually with light switches Things I liked: The room does not have carpet, the bed is very firm with no pillow top, there’s a tiny microwave and dorm sized refrigerator, there is Mexican restaurant and a Subway within walking distance The room was cleaned everyday, and front desk was excellent every day of the stay

Overall, a good stay for the price The shower is oddly shaped, but we had no issues with that

We stayed at this hotel for a last minute travel arrangement for a visit in Belle Fourche This location is cleanRooms are simple, comfortable, clean, and in convenient location for Belle Fourche

Floors are hard which makes it loud in the room Beds were of OK comfort The bathroom was a bit small, at least the sink counter for 4 people The shower was in a very awkward triangular shape, with shower head an inch from the shower curtain I made it work, but it was not convenientThe doors were thin, but hallways carpeted which absorbed sound This location includes breakfast and a poolBreakfast was simply donuts and coffee with some options of yogurt There is a pancake “machine” which my 8 year old found entertaining and fun All you do is press OK and you can watch 2 pancakes cook and fall on a plateOverall this was a comfortable stay I might try a different location if the occasion arises
