We dined at the Boomtown Steakhouse the other night Our waiter, Jiar, was excellent and very accommodating The food was delicious and reasonably priced

Staff were attentive and the restaurant had a pleasant ambience I enjoyed myself so much that I forgot to take my credit card after paying for dinner, so I had to return the next morning to retrieve it Even though the restaurant was closed, Jim, the manager, went out of his way to open the Steakhouse, locate my card, and return it to me with a smile (Thanks, Jim!) Great place, great people, great food

Teleen Santillan

This is a place to stop and check out if you are looking for something small The card dealers are friendly, the one floor server is overworked yet had a beautiful smile Tip her well she deserves it

Not only was she serving the whole casino floor for drinks, she was cleaning as she went and moving fastMel’s diner is a great place to eat You can never go wrong with Peet’s coffee and the steak house is perfect for a romantic dinner The buffet is currently closedThe hotel for us was not a good stay The mattress was an old box spring that had seen better days The sheets didn’t smell fresh, they were stale smelling When you check in you are asked if you want housekeeping service during your stay We opted in, yet somehow that did not get marked correctly I spoke with house keeping before leaving the hotel and was told that they would speak with the supervisor to ensure our room was cleaned and fresh sheets were put on We came back after a long day of exploring Virgina City to discover nothing had been done I spoke with the front desk and was told they will ensure it’s done tomorrow but couldn’t do anything that night I spoke with a supervisor she said the same They wouldn’t fix the issue nor refund the night so we could go somewhere else so we cut out stay short and told them we were checking out in the morning They did not charge us for the cancellation I was told they had upgraded and fixed the rooms Maybe other rooms were and just my luck I got the only one that wasn’t like the pictures or descriptions (Update: day supervisor made up for the disappointment)Try it out you might have better luck The location is perfect It’s a one stop have what you need and it’s a short drive into Reno It’s also close enough to Virgina City and Carson City to explore and experience this part of Nevada with a convenient location that keeps you out of the hustle and bustle of RenoForgot to mention this is a great family location so bring your kids

Megan Marie

Loved the room and view, it was spacious and clean The front desk staff was very helpful and polite There is great cheap food 24/7 at Mel’s

The floor has a variety of machines, definitely something for everyone The bar tenders were very nice and attentive, and made delicious drinks There was live music by talented artists Had fun playing and luckily won a little! Overall had an enjoyable experience at Boomtown this will always be the spot to stay when coming to reno!

The place is quaint & a bit dated (rustic mountain cabin vibe) which actually ends up being perfect The ninetys border across the top of the room & the cramped quarters were my only complaint The photography skills used in the pics online were impressive, the room was fine though, quickly heated up, the shower is tiny as well, for someone really tall, you might want to hit up someplace else, but I think its kind of a Tahoe thing

great vibes truly Hot tub was great, could have been better if it was more clean Im super picky about hot tubs, so keep that in mind Overall, I highly reccommend

I booked a room for one of our employees and she informed me that her hairdryer caught on fire and the lights went crazy She went to the front desk and where the manager was sitting He responded with no sympathy or care for her safety

He did not even offer to place her in the different room or look at the room to make sure everything else was safe He took the hair dryer from her hand, dropped it into the trash can, then dryly said, “done Is there anything else I can do for you?”I called today and ask for management He said, “that would be me” I explained the situation and he said, “first off, that was me Second, hair dryers get hot It happens” I said, “respectfully sir, I blow dry my hair every day and have never had that happen” He got clearly frustrated and told me he would give me only $25 dollars back I told him, “we booked 6 rooms for two nights at full rate and didn’t request any money back on the two we cancelled In this case, a guest was put in an unsafe situation and ended up staying elsewhere out of concern for her safety We expect to be refunded for that room” He said, “No We don’t need guests like you all staying at our hotel” and ended the call

The service was exceptional from general manager to the cleaning crews This is the best hotel out of everything that I have been to Jared Souther (General Manager), Stevenson (Front Desk Supervisor) and Can were all welcoming

They greeted with professionalism from start to finish Room was clean and fully functional There are amenities like complimentary breakfast, 24 hour gym, open pool with spa and laundry room I have included a few pictures in this post I will definitely recommend this hotel

Patrick H

Newer hotel Clean and comfortable They did charge $10 per car per night for parking

Right off the freeway and still fairly close to everything That said, Google maps showed it 07 miles from the edge of downtown Truckee Thought that would make for a good walk after dinner and drinks there Good thing I drove it first The road is dark, without sidewalk, and cars move pretty quick Would not suggest walking that path at night

Stayed here twice for Northstar skiing trips It’s a good location for this purpose, just leave hotel <30min before lift running and no pressure to park in the closer free lotDue to the location, this place is not cheap during snow seasons - easily over easily over $400/d for weekend days

If you think about how much you spend, it’s hard to stay happy for everything about this hotel – 1) Free break fast as it’s SpringHill branded, but barely eatable Not even as good as an avg holiday inn express 2) Noisy, especially for the rooms facing the highway Last one is to Marriott also – 3) the “guaranteed” late checkout is “never guaranteed”, they ignore the request you made in app checkin, and simply say no when you ask due to “availability reason” Fake advertise from Marriott I guess? (I’m Titanium tier member, 4pm checkout is “guaranteed” benefit)

Had a king suite in the back, very little noise No a/c but in early May not a problem Plenty of room with a separate area for the very comfortable king bed

Large window in bedroom area Double sinks in bathroom Room stayed toasty with baseboard heaters during unusual snowstorm Management was very responsive and friendly Easy parking and Safeway and CVS are next door Good restaurants close by

David Della Lana

Wonderful holiday weekend trip to Tahoe City The Inn’s location is magnificent – right on the lake, easy walking distance to the heart of Tahoe City shopping & restaurants Plenty of free parking, rooms are basic & small, very but clean and nicely appointed with mini-fridge & microwave & high-quality local coffee

Management was kind & responsive – check-in/out was a breeze Look it’s not The Ritz, but it’s totally charming when you get a real metal room key labeled Rm#1 🙂

Matthew Williams

We read the other reviews about noise and thought “how bad could it be” From our first floor room we could hear the people above us walking around and know exactly where in their room they were The outdoor walkway on the second floor was also fairly noisy

The rooms did the job The bed was comfortable, the TV worked, the shower was great Our room had some weird amenities There was a clothes steamer but no hair dryer There was an iron but no ironing board There were no decorations (not an issue, just the first place I’ve stayed without something hanging on the walls)The location was great Easy to walk to restaurants or borrow the bikes from the hotel for a ride

They say that you can get rooms cleaned if you request it When you request it, they ask ” what do you need?” Then tell you to come down to the desk for towels, trash bags, and soap and that you should leave your full trash bags in the hallway The cut fresh fruit at the breakfast bar in the morning was excellent

They do not have cream/milk for coffee outside the breakfast hours Multiple times they ran out of hot food well before the end of breakfast The rooms were spacious and well appointed although poorly constructed They were fairly clean despite the lack of cleaning staff Lack of cleaning staff at the rates they are charging simply means they are not paying staff enough, yet they continue to charge room rates as if they were

Andrea Chung

Clean rooms and great breakfast Also very smooth check-in and check-out process; when checking-out they even offered free water bottles for our travels* We stopped here again on our way back, the service was just as good and in fact even better!

Nathan Weyburn

I typically stay at a Hampton not only because they have the best options for breakfast but usually it’s a good stay We ended up staying there New Year’s Eve and it would only seem that the events and the walls were very thin as we could hear everyone talking and having a great time The wife and I did get up early and we did use the exercise room which was very well adequately equipped

Although it looks really nice, we didn’t have enough time to dip into the pool My wife enjoyed the tea table as there was plenty of flavors and hot water

View is superb, our stay with lake view was awesome Clean and hygiene was maintained properly Loved staying two nights

Only one thing we didn’t like that the check out time was 11am but housekeeping people started knocking the door from 8 am which was annoying And one housekeeping person opened the door without asking which we felt bad and uncomfortable since we are sleeping We left the room at 1047 am as our check out time was 11 am Otherwise all were nice

The place is your typical hotel with all the things that make it nice Continental breakfast was goodCharles was very helpful with my obscure requests

I had to find a stick for physical therapy and he went out of his way to track down several items the hotel had that could accommodate my needsRecommend

Brett N

Overall good Hampton inn, typical of my experience with the brand Location in Truckee was pretty good, just a few minutes to downtown or really anywhere in Truckee A Raleys grocery store conveniently around the corner

Breakfast was good each morning, was busy and yet food was never in short supply Heated pool was great for cool days, cleaned each morning Rooms were overall good, no issues and were clean Plenty of parking based on a holiday weekend stay

Cherilyn Jones

Great stay We loved the hot tub!! Laundry, fitness center, and free breakfast were all really appreciated Staff were great

You have to request room cleaning in advance as fyi or it reverts to every 4th day Not a fan of that but understand the circumstances Walkable to Raleys market and a decent convenience store at gas station next door The accessibility was great for the accessible rooms Although the king bed height did make for difficult transfer fromWheelchair

I was supposed to stay elsewhere one night but my reservation got lost I booked a night here via a third party site because it had the best rates (that wasn’t a sketchy-looking motel) When I arrived, lo and behold, my reservation was technically on the wrong date

(At this point, it was nearly 3am, and I could not check in until 3pm)Cue the EXCELLENT customer service I was helped by an employee at the front desk named Dana He was not only incredibly friendly, but extremely understanding and accommodating He SAVED my evening, my sanity, and my “relaxing” vacation! He saw that there was a room available, got me checked in, and I was able to finally rest after a LONG day of driving from San Francisco to Truckee late at nightHe not only helped me snag a room, but he helped me reverse a complicated issue with the third party site (note to self — call a property DIRECTLY for availability, deals, and more because 3rd party sites take so much from small businesses!)The room was spacious, clean, and the bed was very comfortable I had considered cancelling my booking at the other resort so I could stay here longerbut I will be sure to keep this amazing hotel in mind for a near-future visit Breakfast and coffee are included, as well as gorgeous outdoor scenery It is also very conveniently locatedVery special thank you to Dana Your kindness, your professionalism, and SUPERB customer service is what I hope all future travelers get to experience!

Amy Catalan

This was the only hotel we could get since we arrived pretty late at night Just needed a place to stay for that night only and the price was reasonable Their complimentary breakfast was very good

The donner lake is literally in the back yard of those Just need to walk a bit to arrive or drive which is like 2 min away max But I recommend the walk since it’s beautiful scenery The bad thing is the construction going on I front of it The hotel is definitely outdated But I found the bed to be very comfortable Our room was on the main floor which over looked the forest/donner park

Remember , this is a hostel Basically a bed at the end of the day The woman who was on duty was friendly and attentive

The room was clean and well kept as was the bathroom I stayed In a dorm and had plenty of room to store my gear I did not notice any road noise and very little from the near by rail line Granted I didn’t sleep very well, but it’s a dorm, and I did not use the white noise, ear plugs may help, 5 other people in the room Keep in mind that the tahoe basin is a world destination and the price is definitely a value Good beer Pizza is OK but hey, for 20 bucks it works Always interesting folks at the bar

Mary Kate Supplitt

I’m quite confident that anyone who complains about this place doesn’t understand what a hostel is, or has never stayed in one The place clearly advertises it’s a hostel or”bunk style hotel” for those who that doesn’t register This is the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in my fair share of European and Asian hostels

It’s a little on the pricey end but for American prices this is amazing I’ve paid more for a motel 6 that didn’t provide me a foam mattress and a sound machine Yes some amenities are shared but that’s because it’s a HOSTEL I would absolutely recommend Staff is lovely Location is divine Details are too notch Bed is comfortable Privacy for a hostel is well above average I’m so happy to know these place exist in the us for budget travelers who cant afford the $250 Hampton inn aka the next sharpest option

I have stayed at The Crown several times for work and with my family Each time I have been very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms, friendliness of the staff, variety of amenities, and, of course, the absolutely unbeatable location! Melissa and her team work tirelessly to make every guest feel like family and go out of their way to accommodate guest requestsThe pool construction is clearly communicated at multiple points when booking and checking in, and with Lake Tahoe steps away from your room, who would even notice? Can’t wait to return again!

Great location to Kings Beach restaurants Nice views of the lake Property is old and tired

Room was very dated and tired… unless you like dirty green carpetWe requested a room cleaning mid-stay, and it was great that we could request a cleaning time so we knew when to leave However, they never showed up Had to go back to office and request cleaning service again Very inconvenient to have to leave the room twice

This place is excellent! The 5-star rating doesn’t quite do it justice (I almost feel like we need a 6th star for “Exceptional”!) The room was super clean And despite all of the snow outside, it was warm and cozy inside

Breakfast was cooked and served by Paul and Mindy themselves and it was fantastic; best breakfast I’ve had in a while! And the hospitality that Paul and Mindy gave us brought our stay to a whole other level I highly recommend this place

Thank you Paul and Mindy for making our trip to Truckee truly special The B&B is located right across Donner Lake and we felt right at home The room was warm, cozy and very comfortable with views into the forest

As a family with 2 teenagers it is hard to find a place that everyone loves equally, and we had a fantastic trip at the Red Wolf Lodge Even with spring skiing conditions, the proximity to the slopes and restaurants, as well as the hot tubs and sauna, made for a great week for adults and teenagers! My sons have already asked when we can go again!

Leslie Coone

How lovely! Just a great little ski hotel! They do not have a pool or any attractions for kids (unless they like puzzles, they have lots of those in the clubhouse), but the rooms are perfect sized, have everything you could need (they don’t provide robes, but we don’t wear robes), and the atmosphere is very calm and relaxedWe needed a real break from work and life, and we found that here! The kitchen is not bad, I’m a chef and love being able to cook our own food I did bring my own pans and knives though

Here’s a travel tip if you have the room, buy one of those standup rolling totes from Lowes We fill that with pans, spices, games for the kids, toys, and the Xbox (of course lol)Only ‘complaints’ we have is, the screws fell out of our door and it was stupid hard to close and open, the downstairs neighbor probably thought we were housing Godzilla, and the lack of events for kids

This hotel is so so so wonderful It’s admittedly not for everyone but if you love places with personality, history, charm and a homey feel, this is the place Come here to get away, enjoy not being tied to technology and play a game of chess in the sitting area

The patio is wonderful to watch the snow fall or people watch and just enjoy the sights and sounds that make Truckee so specialThe bed is comfy, the staff is beyond lovely I can’t wait to come back ❤️

Emily Heard

Room was cute, but we couldn’t get into our bathroom Staff made us feel like we were stupid by just telling us how it worked but we actually couldn’t find a living person to talk to or show us Just kept telling us how everyone else could open it

so awesome that everyone else besides us could get in our toilet except us Finally got someone to show us and it was opposite of the written directions Bed also super dipped in the middle No fridge, few outlets, 3rd floor room with no elevator Pretty dang meh experience overall

Melissa Vennel (Spira)

I love old historic places Thos hotel was a wonderful mix of old and new I got a room with a bathroom (not all room have that, other rooms have a shared bathroom down the hall)

The room was spacous and clean, the bed was so comfy The bathroom was cute with its deep clawfoot tub The staff was welcoming and gracious, they made sure I was comfortable and had anything I needed I was even offered a glass of wine with my takeout dinner when I returned to the hotel I don’t drink, but that was a nice gesture I thoroughly enjoyed my stay Very restful Note: Because this is a historic building, there is no elevator and is not ADA compliant If you can handle that, I recommend staying here when in Truckee

Great location in Incline Village Private beach access is nice Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help

Rooms were pretty nice Pillows were very thin Air conditioning didn’t go below 65, which is probably okay for most people, but we run warm so it was a bit warm for us Only main complaint is there is no great way to get from the parking lot to your room other than through the main entrance Dog friendly is a great perk with no size restrictions and reasonable fee

My wife and I decided to stay at this resort for our 30th wedding anniversary I must start by saying we definitely had one of the best times in our life and we have traveled all around the world! For starters one of the managers her name is Jennifer she went above and beyond for us you could not imagine !we are so grateful for her for everything she has done she is just absolutely fantastic !I hope she reads this we want to thank you again Jennifer making our stay so wonderful !The resort is very clean !the staff is absolutely amazing !the lake is absolutely beautiful the people who work there work hard young people very polite! The casino was really cute didn’t see any big winners but people were winning Love that it’s pet friendly

Only one downside this resort is very crowded which is expected! Other than that we had a fantastic time lots of fun love the area if you get a chance you must drive around the lake to the top of the mountain for sunset photos of the lake absolutely Breath taking! Would definitely return

I rarely write reviews for hotels, but this why by far one of our best experiences The hotel itself was so well kept and beautiful We traveled in with our dog and they were so pet-friendly

Upon our arrival, our dog was greeted with treats, doggy bags and an extensive list of doggy day cares in the area! We had such a wonderful time and can’t see ourselves staying anywhere else when we visit

A rustic retreat in the small town of Tahoe Vista, with a small private beach and near many attractions (NV casinos, decent restaurants, boating, mini and regular golf) We’ve been coming here for years The rooms could be more up to date, but it is rustic, not modern

Service is available by request only Prices are mid range for the area If not getting a lakefront cottage, go for the forest side, better value than ‘lakeside’

Stayed in room #15 and absolutely loved it! Super close to the water (wish we were on the beach but it was still very close) room was clean! We arrived late and they had no problem putting our key in a lockbox We stayed two nights and it was overall a lovely experience!! Very quite and a nice relaxing getaway wish we could have stayed longer Would stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to Tahoe!

Like many BW hotels, this is not a new building, but it has been updated Amenities (beautiful pool and spa, lounge area, outdoor fire pit, ample parking) were great Best breakfast – full buffet with friendly kitchen staff – included in rate, amazing! Front desk folks are super friendly

3 minute walk to several restaurants Quiet and restful night Loved it!

Our car broke down just outside of town Hauling three kids and a pet they gouged is on everything they could Including trying to charge us for a late checkout while we waited for our car to finish being repaired for two extra hours

Our rooms air conditioner was broken as well, making the nights stay even more miserable Indifferent unapologetic staff Overall a terrible (and yet still insanely expensive) experience

Such a delightedly stay at this quaint, mountain vibe hotel One of the best parts: very dog friendly They even provided a custom doggy bed for my dog and when we walked into our room, they had a big treat lying on the bed (which my dog enjoyed immediately)

I will also add the bar in the lobby was very diverse in its portfolio and even had custom cocktails It’s a full bar with good bourbon as well My wife had wine, I had bourbon, and they also have a full tea bar for the morning We are very thankful for the welcoming staff and hope to be back soon Cheers mate!

Great hotel, very luxurious with clean spacious rooms The staff was incredibly friendly and helpfulThe hot hub, which is open from 9am to 9pm is a nice bonus as well as the complementary coffee in the lobby

We would definetly recommend stopping by, it’s well worth its price

Very attractive but expensive A shared soup, bread and chicken, no drinks, came to $100 in the restaurantI’ve stayed at a different motel/hotel every night for 28 days

This was among the cleanestIf the owners are serious about making the experience better for older folks they could make some improvements The table between the beds has only one phone jack and it didn’t work, even with instructions for a tub bath (impossible for me as I have bad knees) the shower mechanism had no way to turn it on, and no breakfast, unless one pays high prices Truly difficult stay
